Guess eBay truly doesn't like Cash Rewards anymore lol.

@gotyourback may we have a list of compatible coupons?

I want a new a gundam lol aka SNSFUN

    • +7

the problem with partnering with CR is that they actually have to honor and pay out CB, which is not profitable.

      • +1

If we want to take about value and business. Shopback definitely "better" over Cash Rewards even just looking at the IPO of CR then be taken private by ANZ.

Shopback has move to payment processing to add other revenue streams. Hoolah acquistion and a successful round of series F. It hit unicorn status recently compared to the value of $100mAUD for cash rewards. It good it shifting to look at other sources of revenue (debatable with BNPL) but its a good shift.

        • If we want to take about value and business. Shopback definitely "better" over Cash Rewards even just looking at the IPO of CR then be taken private by ANZ. 1835i.

FTFY. 1835i being independently run of ANZ, while Cashrewards is independently run of 1835i.

          • @Clear: End of the day. Who money is used for ownership? ANZ as its their partner and fund pool. x15 and Reinventure are the same.

The bank said the new operating model would allow 1835i to run "more like a start-up, without the same regulatory requirements that ANZ has as an authorised deposit-taking institution."ANZ will still fund 1835i’s investments and governance, with ANZi's managing director Ron Spector overseeing the new business.

            source

            • @Sheng: Hypothetically it would be kinda like saying Bunnings bought Kmart Group instead of Wesfarmers, with Kmart Group operating independently.

So to be accurate the buyout was by 1835i and not ANZ.

    • Seems eBay doesn't like cashback. Experienced order cancellations from eBay, not the seller, on different occasions during increased cashback promotion. Can a rep comment on this? It's a waste of time and degrades reputation of both companies. With Amazon's sitewide cashback promo today perhaps they can take my money instead of eBay who would in all probability make it a waste of time and a smouldering mess getting refunded.

    • Good to know that, as I don't like cashrewards, too

  • +6

    Wrong company shopback

  • +6

Guess will be the usual cashback not eligible if coupon code is used. $20 is not a huge saving for full price ebay items

    • Oh drat, I forgot about that.

Was going to get the current Switch OLED deal, knocking another 20 bucks off would have been nice but yeah I guess they won't stack =(

      Ah well.

  • I wonder if the new codes for eBay Plus Tuesdays are included too

  • +4

    AEDT

I think this is an old promo they accidentally put up. It isn't even daylight savings lol

  • Unobtainable Deal - Moved to the forums

    Not meant to be live.

Banner has also been removed from their Amazon Prime Day Landing Page

    • +6

Not meant to be live - wouldn't that mean it will go live thus is valid to be posted as a deal?

      • +2

It will be a deal when it goes live

        • +3

So any deals for upcoming sales should be deleted?

  • +8

Amazon search is absolutely trash, I could type in 16gb ddr4 3200mhz SODIMM and get results mixed results ranging from 8gb to 32gb, desktop ram, and not even ddr4 nor 3200mhz.

Whereas ebay search perfectly narrows down what I need and actually uses similar search tricks as google, such as quotation marks for must include words.

  • Ebay trying to run a deal on Amazon Prime Day lol

  • +6

They wouldn't want just anyone sharing such a deal ;)

Mod Note: Deal was first discovered by Munnday, but was moved to forums as unobtainable based on the report from ShopBack Rep.

    • +2

      Is it sitewide?

    • +1

Fixed Daylight saving and now is a new deal. Bravo SB.

    • +17

The original post by Munnday for this deal should have been reinstated instead of making a new one. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/711836.

    • Please confirm the source of the eBay 15% Cashback, as Shopback Rep reported 'Munnday Post' with

      Not meant to be live.

      • +27

It's on a banner on the shopback app itself, on the first page.. Clearly I wasn't the one who they wanted to post the deal

        • My apologies for moving your deal to forum as unobtainable.

I was under the assumption that the deal was unobtainable based on the report from the Shopback Rep.

As the deal has already been moved to the forums, I don't have the ability to reinstate your deal.

          • +9

@RichardL: Let Munnday post the deal again and move this to forums?

            • @8azinga: Don't worry, it will get fixed in the monthly transparency report card. Is not like we lose sleep over missing out hundreds of likes + the usual SB negs.

Typing this during morning hours in AEST

      15% off $133.33 spend = $20 cap

      • Thank you Ozbargain's accountant!

        • +1

          Yes to maths,
          No to accounting

          ( I failed accounting at uni )

      • +4

Isnt it $146.67 since they calculate cashback excluding gst?

        • I didn't know that, but that's a great point and sounds valid.

        • +3

Only on international items, so @whyisave is correct if you're only buying items from Australia.

  • +6

    sooo… it was real?

    • +10

Like I said they didn't want just anyone to share it. Reserved for only specific people.

    • +3

      This is so BS

    • -8

It was, the banner wasn't supposed to be live yesterday.
Pre-promoting merchant content without authorisation can get us in trouble.
I reported the deal as our team had to take the banner down.

@Clear surely TA has shared this same concern with you at least once before, right?

      • +5

@Clear surely TA has shared this same concern with you at least once before, right?

Of course. The difference is that TA won't pull the deal if it wasn't posted by the intended recipient, like this for example. Unlike what's happened here.

  • A bit of database surgery was done to migrate this post back this morning.

    • Move this post from forum to deal
    • Move all the votes from the dupe post to this deal
    • Merge the comments from dupe post to this deal

A few minutes after this deal was posted, we've received a report from ShopBack saying that it's not meant to be live so we migrated it to the forums section. However as a separate deal was posted an hour later and gaining votes, we felt that it would be fairer to move the original post back as a deal.

    • +1

Cheers Scotty, my apologies for the run around.
Definitely not something we wanted happening πŸ˜”

  • Well, that was a big serving of popcorn 🍿

  • Thanks.

  • Am amused

  • +4

This sounds like some weird OzB politics.. only certain people are allowed to post certain deals? What's that all about

    • +1

Explained here. ShopBack Rep reported the deal so mod removed it. Banner shouldn't have been live last night when it was posted.

      • That's what I figured. The comments are confusing

    • +2

only certain people are allowed to post certain deals?

Yes it's a real thing. I won't discuss it further here though.

  • +7

So deal was accidentally made public. Gets posted here, rep lies about it to get the deal unpublished so their preferred person can then post it shortly afterwards? Seems like a pretty low act tbh.

    • +4

Hey mate, I'm unsure why that's the narrative that's going around, my replies earlier and the truth of the matter is that we have responsibilities and relationships with our brands that we have to maintain. Things getting posted at the wrong times can cause them problems, so we do what we can to limit that.

We do have mates that help us post offers here and there, but I don't lose sleep when that can't happen for one reason or another. I'll cop the criticism from the community today that this has left a sour taste, but not when it's criticism based on something that isn't true.

    • +1

One would have thought SB would be a little more diligent with their eBay promotions after their last debacle. Apparently not though.

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/701083

      • Its the ebay Singapore and Aus marketing folks and SB folks being at their mercy of them. TA (CR) didn't want to be a party to that and hence no ebay cashback deals on CR anymore. Its upto us folks, if we want to give ebay the boot and don't want to be a party to their marketing bosses. I am sure they will read it, but wont care now, only care when they become a Nokia, they think they are too big to sink , LMAO

  • 1) Is this on all categories?
    2) Will an international purchase count via ebay.com.au?

    Thanks

    • +1

All categories, yep! As for international purchases, orders from international sellers are eligible for Cashback, so long as the transaction is placed through eBay Australia.

      • +1

Just to confirm, use of any promo codes will invalidate the cashback?

      • Thank you!

      • One final question - if seller accepts best offer, and it's paid for within this timeframe - will that be included also please?

        Thanks

      • +1

eBay code SNSHOGA is listed on shopback, will that still invalidate the cashback?

        • +1

@scrimshaw and @CodeXD, it's likely that eBay will have to pull that code for the upsize, sadly, so no codes will be usable during the flash period.

@Uncle Roger, best offer items aren't valid for cashback, I'm afraid!

          • @gotyourback: What about something like this?

            BOGOF, no codes required

            • @CodeXD: That's all good, merchant offers that don't use a code are fine for use with us.

          • +2

@gotyourback: You need to clarify this on the terms in the Shopback app. Currently it says that codes are not eligible for cashback of 15% (unless otherwise stated). And in the "Promo" section, SNSHOGA code is there as an allowable code.

Not everyone reads OzBargain so there will be others buying on the assumption that this code can be used.

            • @delfredo: Yep, was going to comment this as well..

              • @Uncle Roger: Good flag, thanks heaps. Asked to get this removed to clarify from our end.

                • +1

@gotyourback: Agree on delfredo's comment - the terms mentioned codes are not eligible for cashback (unless otherwise stated) .. but I seen the specific banners for get cashback with these coupons, so I figured it fell under the 'stated' allowance haha. Even took a screenshot of the banners in the app because I made my purchase decision based on the advertising

                  • +1

@tammo: Hey tammo, we did get the code removed from our site shortly after my previous comment to ensure there was no confusion during the sale period, but if you've made your purchase before this was removed and end up having issues with your cashback, shoot me a DM with your account info and I'm happy to do what I can to help.

  • Bloody hell I am so confused.
Can we just delete this thread if the deal is not going live to avoid confusion (and disappointment!!)?

    • The deal is scheduled to go live as you can see on the ShopBack app

      • +1

        Don't use the app 😊

    • It literally says 3-7pm in the title…

      • Last I saw it was UNOBTAINABLE

        • that was like 14 hours ago lol

definitely already had the date/time when you commented

  • +1

    is today's ebay 10% off PLRANGE2 eligible?

  • Does this include auctions paid for during the cashback period?

  • +10

Pretty much every item I buy on eBay has only been worthwhile because of a coupon.

  • +2

Be careful purchasing more than one item in transaction with high chance of return for either of the products. They will get rid of the cashback entirely

  • How does one remove a code applied by the seller? I've got "BDWINTER" on an item that I can't remove, it keeps giving me a "We ran into a problem. Please try again".

  • +2

    WHAT TO BUY???

    • Indeed what to buy that isn't already on Amazon and can get to me by tomorrow
