    Just compared prices with Amazon:
    PX5: $238.50 Shipped

    The others are marginally cheaper.

    • Amazon don't ship Turtle Beach headsets to Australia anyway

Whilst it doesn't change the fact that this is a good deal.

Turtle Beach headphones are massively overhyped, and only became well known once they started Call of Duty/Halo branding.
You can find equal sound quality from other brands much cheaper.
Steel Series, the high end Razer (5.1/7.1) even Sennies.

I have Audio Technica ATH M50s and find them much better then my friends PX3, granted my M50s don't have a microphone.

    • +1 used to have a pair of one of their first models, the earforce x41s
paid about 230 at the time, and whilst they did sound good, they were not worth the price.

one of the main reasons i got them though was due to a lack of options. few years back there werent many choices/options in regards to headsets that were xbox chat compatible. but these days theres definitely more choice

I did a bit of research before buying, but I couldn't find any other set that had a suitable feature set to the PX5's.

I was lucky enough to pick them up for $187 a couple of weeks ago from ausgamez (uk site) http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/68818 - unfortunately it wasn't long till they went out of stock.

The reason I went for my PX5's is that they are 5.1 surround sound compatible with both Xbox and PS3 chat, support optical digital for my receiver, and are wireless. You can even use them as a bluetooth headset independent of the audio, allowing you to answer calls within the game, or listen to music on your phone through bluetooth whilst still hearing the game audio and sounds. They're the best headphones I've ever had, and I think they were worth every penny.

The sound is absolutely fantastic through the optical RF (especially considering they're a wireless set). Decent bass, surround sound, plug and play into Xbox Live/PSN Chat and very immersive.

However I did think when listening to music through bluetooth, although very clear, it was lacking in bass. Thankfully this is not a problem through the optical RF receiver.

I couldn't find anything else with that same feature set, but if you are looking just for PC, you may have a much wider range of options, especially if you go the wired route, which are generally a lot better.

  • I wanted wireless for PS3 & PC multiplayer, couldnt find anything else that would handle both well. Only used the PX5 on PC so far but very happy.

  • ive been thinking for a while now about getting a wireless headset for my ps3 and potentially macbook.

I normally play FPS games online and watch a fair amount of movies. I was thinking about buying one of those wireless headphones just for the TV, but perhaps the PX3 will do as I will be able to use it for gaming.

Anyone have first hand experience watching a movie with the PX3? How is the quality?

    • is the PX3 MW3 bravo headset the same as the standard PX3 headset?

      • +3

Not 100 sure, the PX5/deltas have same hardware just different voice/sound settings (MW3 optimized) so I figure its a similar situation with them.

Funny how I find $17 cheaper, $42 cheaper and possibly around $89 cheaper (if they are the same) deals and get negged for the effort. Looks like a couple of trolls have negged the same few posts previous to mine. Leachers gonna leach.

    • They are a little cheaper but are not Australian stock with warranty.

If you have read several reviews of the Turtle beach then local warranty sounds like a good insurance policy, these are quite a complicated headset.

      • +1

I have had a pair of PX5 since release day, well made product, hardly complicated and that includes flashing new sound settings. I wouldn't worry about importing from ozgameshop, they replaced a controller for me last year after 8 months with no fuss.
