Was cheaper in 2020 and unfortunately I missed https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/681215 but this kit is still/currently cheaper than local Australian stores by ~$100. Stack with an additional item from the qualifying list for an additional 19% off (totalling $126.96). Personally I am thinking of getting a Wera ratcheting screwdriver but you can find items for a buck or two if you just want the discount.
If you think $50 a piece is expensive that's fine, you're probably not the target demographic of these quality tools.

            • @UncleRico: literally just did it.

there's a catholic church just over my back fence and I've been wondering why that half naked dude on the cross was always looking into my yard. I thought it was creepy but I now that he loves me so I guess it's okay.

Just want to say… that Wera ratcheting screwdriver is fantastic. I have several different ratcheting screwdrivers and the Wera is my favourite.

    • Definitely keen, should pair very nicely with my Wera tool-check kit

I’ve bought a couple of Knipex pliers like this from Amazon, this is definitely one of those things where Amazon is actually really good value for money. Same with the Wera stuff. I use them all the time but I can be a bit shy with my Knipex stuff as often I am needing to be rough (eg holding something to whack with a hammer) and don’t want to damage my nice pliers.

  • Could someone explain to me what sets this set of pliers apart? It’s like wow- $150 for three pliers.

There must be a reason (no experience here) but I appreciate good tools. Would love some enlightenment here. 😊

      Jaws actually line up

    • +4

Two things. Generally just brilliant quality with super hard teeth. The other is that people really like the push button adjustment, it can be easier to get the jaws to the right width than the normal "open it all the way up, then adjust it" method - especially one handed.

Also the 100mm and 125mm cobras are super portable, I have one in my backpack and you don't even notice them. It's not easy to find brilliant quality pliers at those sizes, and the jaw design makes them useful for larger jobs than you'd think.

As Joker042 has said, the quality really sets them apart. Often adjustable pliers like these can feel or become quite wobbly between the two handles/jaws. In some ways you are paying for the brand, in this case the Knipex brand is definitely more geared towards the professional market and has established themselves as reliable and quality made gear. At the end of the day if you just need something to tighten up the pipe under the sink every few months your bargain bucket Bunnings special would be adequate.

  • I got this with it.

    I hope they are quality.
