even if you were going to be buying Ikea products during this promotion period

Time to hand in your ozb membership

Using the app at ikea (when they actually have the app-only lanes open) is amazing cause no one uses it and you can skip right past everyone.
So I get 5% extra discount for that? Hell yeah

FYI you can still pay cash at Ikea even in the self-serve electronic payment 'only' lanes (which is most of them).

After scanning all your items, ask a human Ikea worker to come over and they will do something on the screen and print a receipt for you and then show you over to the perma-closed human operated checkout lanes where either they or their supervisor will process your cash payment.

As expected plenty of negs but nobody refuting my comments 😏

How are they going to harvest your data from a sandboxed app Mike?

They already know what you’re buying if you’re a loyalty member anyway.

        • You're getting negged because your comment is nonsense. No one calls anyone a Nazi for disliking an app. You're being overly sensitive.

    • This is wrong. There is one aisle for app checkout and 10+ for non app (at least at my local).

You don't use the app to pay, you just scan using the app and then you pay however you want (including gift cards).

It just means as you are walking around IKEA you have essentially done your checkout.

Lucky. My nearest Ikea has 2 remaining human operated checkouts (which are never open), and then 6 lines of 3 self-checkouts. Two of those lines have had a QR code operated gate installed and have been reserved for people using the app.

Regardless, it takes approx the same amount of time scanning at the shelf as you put it in your trolley/bag or at the checkout.

  • Does anyone know if you can redeem physical IKEA gift cards in conjunction with this offer?

Also can you schedule delivery date a week in advance?

    • +1

Good question. Can you redeem gift cards via the app to pay?

If they did not change how app purchase works, you just literally scan all items on your phone, instead of the checkout. After that, a QR code will be generated that can be scanned on any checkout to pay, just like what you did in the past.

      • That is great

      • +1

Yes, this, it just allows you to skip the queues and do your scanning as you wander round. The payment process is identical to the non app checkout.

        • it allows you to skip the queues

Until enough people get suckered in by paltry deals like this and the app-only checkout lines grow to the same length as the other checkout lines.

      • I forgot to scan a couple items on my cart so I added them via the checkout scanner - still applied the discount.

Logically then, you only need to scan a minimum of one item with your phone.

  • Why not Friday lol

  • Possible to use ultimate gc to pay?

    • Should be fine. You use the normal checkouts, just do you scanning in the app.

  • combine with ikea reward keys to bring the item costs down

  • just an FYI to sign ahead on the app for iphones. I tried to sign in but everytime it asks for a code and I'm switching tabs, it'll reset the tab back to the sign in which is frustrating.
