  • Will there be smear when use playing the game?

    • As long as you don't defecate on the screen, no.
On a more serious note, Hisense are atrocious for motion handling.

      • +1

Agreed. We have a couple of Hisense TVs at home 2020 models and motion handling is absolute garbage. Even a budget SONY model will outperform Hisense on any given day.

  • Hummm … this sounds very good !!! Where are the TV specialists, what do you reckon? I'm after an 85 that won't break the bank.

    • +3

pretty much the only option from a trusted brand?

    • +9

Unless Australia gets the same panels they sell on American market I wouldn't bother with Hisense.

      • What are the other options with good picture quality with similar price?

  • +1

    What panels do these use?

    • Screen Type LCD/LED?

    • +3

I won't worry too much about panels for an entry level TV….

      • If it's an 85", you would probably wanna worry.
Defects would stand out like a sore thumb on this thing.

    • IPS.

There are three TVs very similar spec wise from Hisense

    85U8G - $2396 - JBHIFI
    https://hisense.com.au/product/85-uled-4k-tv-series-u8g/

    85A7G - $1799 - COSTCO
    https://hisense.com.au/product/85-uhd-4k-tv-series-a7g/

    85A7HAU - $2236 - JBHIFI
    https://hisense.com.au/product/85-uhd-4k-tv-series-a7hau/

Does anyone have one of the TV's above and could share the experience?

    Cheers guys

  • This looks really good price for the screen size. Definitely worth taking a punt

Sorry just realised a friend of mine has something similar and there was a lag with fast moving images.

    • +1

And my experience with Hisense is that this tends to get worse over time. Great TVs if ease-of-use and a long warranty are more important to you than image quality though!

  • +2

Here I am again lol, bombarding the post.

Apparently it's clearance and TGG has on sale as well for $1865 + 1.5% Shopback, it brings down to $1837.02 and it's available in store for C&C.

I know it's not cheaper, but it's an alternative for people that does not want to wait or places where COSTCO does not deliver.

  • What about in comparision to this TCL 85"

    Only 60Hz!!!!

I would not be spending $1800 on a TV in 2022 (no matter the size) that's not HDMI 2.1 or 120hz.. This is a bad buy.

    • +9

Why do we need more than 60hz?

      • +1

Agreed. I do not like the soap opera effect.

        • ??? Do you know what soap opera effect even is? This is not relevant.

          • -1

            @askbargain: Clearly does not.

          • @askbargain: Um…it's very relevant…

Soap opera effect is consumer lingo for a visual effect caused by motion interpolation, a process that high definition televisions use to display content at a higher refresh rate than the original source. The goal of motion interpolation is to give the viewer a more life-like picture.

            https://www.techtarget.com/whatis/definition/soap-opera-effe…

            • -1

              @1r4n14n: Motion interpolation isn't 120hz and 120hz isn't motion interpolation.

      • becaue 120 sounds twice as good or bad as 60,

    • +2

Having faster than 60Hz barely makes a difference for TV or movie viewing (i.e: non gaming). More expensive TVs with fast image processors may be able to inject a few interpolated frames to lessen the impact of motion blur, but it doesn’t always work right or make things better (e.g: soap opera effect).

      • +1

Love the so called Soap Opera Effect. Maybe because it looks more natural, closer to lifelike? Anywayz, tbis is a stonking deal. Is it Android?

    • +3

You do realise for a 85 inch TV at this price point, you are getting an entry level panel right? Don't expect 4K 120Hz mate.

    • but this is 85"

    • +1

Sure you can get a better TV with all that but you would be paying double, LG Nano75 86inch has hdmi 2.1, 200hz but its $3600 at the moment.

I was going to get the Nano but in the end after seeing them both in person, I decided its not worthy the double price as LG has a pretty dark panel consider its the same Edge Lit as the Hisense. And Hisense has 3 year warranty with LG been only 1

  • Has anyone seen this in store as to the price? Typically in store price is less than the website delivered price as they add in delivery costs into the online price. Thx

  • I made the mistake recently of looking at Tvs at Costco and they had 1 OLED TV in the line up. I've never actually looked at an OLED before but once you see one, every other set looked awful. Unfortunately no OLED in these sizes are affordable.

    • +1

Difference between OLED and highend LED (QLED, Micro LED etc..) is not that big especially under bright lighting conditions like that in Costco. Are you sure you were looking at the exact same video footage on all TVs ? otherwise you can’t do a fair comparison. When there are multiple sets on display, the more expensive sets will showcase the highest quality 4K demos while the cheaper ones will show some generic FHD footage or in some cases plain old FTV that will look horrible in any large screen.

P.S: I’m not saying this Hisense has a highend panel, this is a budget TV therefore the picture quality will be on par with other budget sets. I’m simply replying to the comment that non OLED TVs look awful compared to OLEDs.

      • Good points made. From memory some were showing the same content but not all and I didn't think about them deliberately displaying different quality content but that makes perfect sense. I didn't look at the specifics of each panel as I was there to buy groceries not TVs but that's good to know re QLED and Micro LEDs too.

    Sony KD85X85J double the price at $3.5K - https://www.costco.com.au/Smart-TVs-Audio-Cameras/Smart-TVs/…

This Hisense is a good buy if you are not technical and 99% of your buying decision is based on screen size

    • +1

Got this Sony delivered last week. It is an amazing TV, fast UI, installed various Apps that allow free streaming of international TV, played Mario kart on switch with 4 players (ie large screen got divided into 4 separate screens) and the graphics was amazing, no ghosting, no clouding, no issues, Fabulous colours. The TV has ARC feature so by pressing just the home button on the Switch controller, it turns on the Switch, which then turns on the TV and puts it in the right AV Source channel, and then it turns on the Amplifier and sets that to the correct source channel too! Amazing fast and awesome feature.

      • ‘+’ for ARC experience sharing. Cheers.

  • +3

I have this exact TV, I have to say apart from the black level which isnt great, everything else is great.

Never seeing any lagging or ghost even with F1 racing. So no idea what the others are talking about with the 200hz thing as this is only 60hz and i dont see any lagging ghosting ever

    • +1

It’s from people with no real life experience and purely reading tech specs.

      • Well I used to work for them and can tell you first hand that they've successfully bluffed their way into the Australian market and fooled people into thinking their TV's are worthy of comparing with the Japs and Koreans.

        • You've made some pretty strong comments on the last few Hisense threads. Did your colleagues get disgruntled when you yelled "THIS… IS… SPAAAARRRRTTTTTTTTTAAAAAAAA!!!!"?

    • Same here, this is my 2nd living room TV and had it since March. Wife watches it daily and have beem impressed - 4.5 out of 5 starts. Will give 5 stars if it has Google TV which can be fixed by using the Google TV 4k chromecast.

      • +1

I would be impressed too if it got the wife out into the 2nd living room! What happened with the 0.5 starts? Does it not start up when it is too cold?

  • OOS

This is an entry-level TV. Not sure why so many experts criticize its lack of high-end features.

    • +1

Because 'experts' live in a spec world with no concept of fit for purpose

    • Exactly. Just like they are paying only $50K for a big 4WD vehicle, and expecting it to include a 300kW/600Nm twin turbo engine as well.

  • Have Hisense 75 A7HAU from Telstra Good Guys promo. Excellent picture out of the box and very acceptable entry level TV for non gaming activities. Motion issues with sport not evident with HD channels.

  • question for owners of this tv, if you view it on a angles like 30 to 45 degree, not straight ahead, is the picture still reasonably good compared to viewing it straight on ?
