Lol. That’s all I can say.

  • My first laptop was in 2005, Celeron, 512M/40Gb, $1200, worked perfectly to 2010, then $200 sold.

Love it or hate it many people will still buy these laptops because they can’t afford any better 🤷‍♂️

Not true. They can afford a decent refurb/used. They are just ignorant of it. There is no such excuse for those of us who follow ozbargain.

      • Yes but not everyone thinks like us. I work in tech retail and unfortunately I do sell quite a few of these laptops. The customer specifically wants something new and cheap for their kid or for light usage. At least I make sure they’re aware it’s a very basic machine. They won’t even touch a refurb even though people like you or me see the light and would purchase one of them.

        • What would you suggest then as a check laptop for emails and word docs for uni? I'm on the computer at work all day. Want something cheap and light for uni assignments

Just don't.. Get a refurb.. Alternatively light your money on fire.. You'll get more enjoyment.

    • looking at sending a laptop overseas, can you point me in the direction of some decent ones up to $300?

      • Look on Gumtree and EBay for an older business laptop from a few years back.

You will easily find refurbished Lenovos with:
        - more powerful dual chips from Intel 7th and 8th gen
        - 8gb ram (double amount)
        - 256gb SSD (faster and more space)
        - also if lucky you might get 1080p screens

I see them pop up randomly in the $220 to 350 range

    What a description. Bravo

      That's strong copy

  • $277, almost the right price. let me know when they give me $350 to use it and ill think about it

Real friends don’t let their friends buy this laptop.

I'm wondering if this is good for gaming.

Thinking of some kind of card game - e.g. patience. Or maybe that find-a-mine thingy.

    • +2

Solitaire would lock this thing up

1fps when the cards cascade when you finish the game

The first line in description is play demanding games. Lol

  • Here is an example of a used laptop that would put this new laptop to shame.

Just the cpu alone is way faster. The screen is FHD also.

X1 carbon has a nice build.

  • can you add another SSD and RAM for this typing machine ?

  • Would this be an upgrade for my ageing Dv6-1244TX featuring a P8700 with 2 cracking 2.5ghz processors?
In all seriousness I still use it to play Red Alert 3 and Battlefield 2, but only if it's plugged in. It's like turning the A/C off in an old car to get more power up a hill Lol
