"Drink Milk until the cows come home!"

This sentence makes my head hurt thinking about it

  • +1

$5.50 shipping for one litre ;)

  • +1

Is this the long life type? Or fresh milk

    • -1

      recycled milk!

    • Its long life I think. 1litre pura fresh milk cupboard cartons if i can remember correctly.

      • We'd better find out… so no one orders $56 worth & gets a lot more milk than they can drink or freeze before the milk goes off… :-/

  • +1

Please include the shipping in the title.

  • For orders under $55, delivery is $5.50/$11/$26 for Metro/Regional/Country respectively. Delivery is only available to NSW, ACT, VIC, SA and TAS.

  • has any OB'er really bought milk exceeds 1.0-dollar per litre?

    • Non-cow Soy milk 99 cent, now that'd be a deal.

      • +1

As opposed to the Cow soy milk?
Best place to get soy milk is Aldi.

        • yeah yeah, should have used "drink" there instead of milk.
cheapest Soy costs still 1.50, may need to review ALDI.

I used to buy $1/L milk, but then stopped due to two reasons: increasing permeate use in cheap milk, and that odd feeling that every litre I buy is screwing some farmer over somewhere.

      • Agreed, ethical standards are at play - also why I'll aim for a substitute, rule wasted bobby-calves out, whilst farmers stay crucially in, the equation.

      • From a SMH article:

"IN THE milk industry it's called ''permeate'' - a watery, greenish waste product from the production of cheese - and documents obtained by the Herald reveal that it forms up to 16 per cent of the fresh milk we drink.

As the milk wars between supermarkets have reduced margins for milk producers, industry sources say permeate is increasingly being used by producers to reduce the cost per litre.

Just how much permeate - which is cheaper than fresh milk and can be used to moderate fat levels - is used has been a closely held secret of the dairy industry.

In 2008 a number of NSW farmers accused the milk industry of adding up to 12 per cent permeate to milk to cut its production cost.

Internal documents from Australia's biggest supplier, National Foods - which makes Pura, Big M, Dairy Farmers and supplies both Woolworths and Coles brand milk - reveal its milk now contains up to 16.43 per cent permeate."

    • There is aweful, acceptable, good, great and amazing milk variations.

Best milk I have ever had cost $8 for 2 litre bottle. It tastes so much better and different than other milks that it's hard to believe it's both milk.

I believe the best value milk is Pura Gold at the moment if you buy 1 litre bottles. I much prefer 1 litre bottles because I shamefully drink from the bottle sometimes.

Long life Devondale "Milk" currently: $1.00/L, save 86 cents, Coles. See front cover http://catalog.coles.com.au/CatalogueFrame/?CatalogueId=fca6… if bargainers interested.

  • I buy the devondale skim milk when it's on sale for $1 litre. It tastes the same as the home brand equivalent but the seal seems to open a lot easier. Not easy enough to pay full price though.
