Ooni Fyra Pizza Oven $479 (Club Price) C&C or In Store @ Anaconda

160

I have been searching for a pizza oven and came across this one (wood pellet model) from Ooni. This is the cheapest I can find on this model. Cheaper than the last posted deal from Anaconda by $20. Need to be a club member to get the price (free to join). Plenty of availability when I jumped on to check.

Unfortunately for me, this is not the model I'm after but if it's your thing, hope this helps. Have only heard positives about Ooni pizza ovens.

Just a tip, watch some videos before getting into pellet pizza ovens.

Personally I found the constant babysitting of the pellets and fire too much of a chore.

"Oh, I put to many pellets in and now it smothered the fire. "

"Oh, I don't top the pellets up quick enough and now it died down too much to start burning any fresh pellets. Time to start the fire from scratch again."

When you get that sweet spot they work great.

One of those mini blow torches that go onto a typical butane can makes lighting the pellets much easier.

Just bought myself gas one, yet to give it a go though. Might see if I can work a way to get some pellets in there as well to give it the wood fired taste.

    • Top tips… Can I ask which gas one did you pick up? After a gas or multi fuel one myself.

      • Saw this on sale for like $100 and thought I might as well give it a go. For the price I figured it was worth a shot.

Might be giving it a run tonight, will see how I go.

        • Just set it up and gave it a heat cycle. Got the stone up to about 310 which isn't particularly hot. It was cold and windy though which will be a problem for this as it is uninsulated.

It will do until I find a good deal on a proper gas one.

          • @Duff5000: Flame from bottom no good, it acts like BBQ.

            • @huntabargain: For $100 I'm willing to give it a go. Would like a proper $700 + one but can't really justify the price at the moment.

Even if it just ends up cooking the kids pizzas while I babysit the pellet burning other oven.

Could even make a basatardised hybrid of the two.

    • Seconding all of those, I have a first generation Uuni (ooni), and the pellet babysitting means if you are going to use this at a party, you pretty much can't - you can't be a host. It will take approve 40 minutes of babying it to get to temperature (these models are not much faster in the pellet category), then yeah. Because of the babying, you need to cycle pizzas through it rapidly, which if you are doing hand made pizzas (and of course you are!) it's impossible and you'll have it on idling chewing through pellets a lot.

    • Everything you said +100. I converted my ooni 3 to gas from pellets and never looked back, it’s soooo much easier, and the pizza is better because I focus 100% on making and cooking, not stressing about how the pellets are burning. The open door with gas helps to monitor the pizza, whereas with pellets you need to close the door and pray. Not to mention the backdraft explosions with pellets… Pellets should have never been sold as a fuel source.
The other thing that ups the level is a turning peel so you don’t have to take the pizza out to rotate it. Cooks quicker because you aren’t removing the pizza from the oven.

    • yeah, i considered but hassle of pellets puts me off ….think i will wait for deal on gas version ….

    I recommend the Roccbox https://au.gozney.com/products/roccbox
Haven't seen a sale but they include extras sometimes. We got the cover and turning peel included.

  • Looking forward to the day when I'm ready to buy one of these. Currently rocking a $100 electric pizza oven and am thrilled with the results.

Still have a long way with my dough stretching skills.

    • my $120 electric pizza oven works a treat …. but doesn’t quite make it hot enough for leopard spots …. but for people that don’t have anything decent for making pizza, the electric $120 ovens are a great start ….

I have ooni koda and love it. Gas is so easy and pizzas come out great. Personally wouldn’t go the pellet option due to ease of use.

  • I have had this (Ooni Fyra 12) for a little while and was attracted by the appeal of wood fired oven pizzas. I can say that it has been brilliant. Yes, 15 minutes preheat time but the pellets are super easy. My local Bunnings store has half bags of the pellets for $10 which would last 20 or more cook ups. The pellets go into the back tube and self feed as it burns and needs them. The pizzas cook in less than a minute and taste amazing. I’ve read the forums and anything anyone complains about is directly related to not reading the instructions. Get a decent pizza peel - the gadget that you use to put the pizza into the oven and put some semolina flour on it so it doesn’t stick as you slide it into the oven.

As others above have said and I have mentioned before on similar posts, please get a duel fuel unless you have got an awful lot of spare time and you are an absolute gun at making pizza 🍕
