Satechi Aluminium Stand Hub for iPad Pro (Space Grey) $125 + Delivery ($0 C&C/ in-Store) @ JB Hi-Fi

110

Great little all in one stand/hub from a reputable brand. I’ve just purchased one so I can’t speak too much on it but from what I’ve seen online, it’s a solid little unit. Little pricey but this is a decent deal. Usually it’s around $180. And RRP is $99 USD in the states. Also being USB-C it will plug into anything not just an iPad or other tablets, so could act as a handy USB-C hub in a pinch if you needed a card reader etc. The HDMI port is 4k @ 60hz too which is great.

I’ll bite. Looked at these a couple of months ago

    • would like to know how it tastes

      • Like a foil covered chocolate egg but harder to chew I'm assuming?

    • Book a dentist :). Enjoy. I looked at a lot of reviews and most were very positive. It’s like a light version of the Kensington dock at a fraction of the price. Obviously not as feature packed but way more bang for buck, especially if you already have other accessories like the magic/logitech/etc keyboard.

  • Nice one! Got one for dad for his birthday.

    • Awesome. I think the older generation would really love this. So simple and a great form factor. You’re a good son/daughter.

  • Would this work with a Switch? Had a quick search …

    • No

    • Nah no good. Nintendo OS does not support external hard drives. It could possibly charge it but I wouldn’t buy it this for that purpose.

Genuine question, beside being a build in stand, is this any difference than those 8 in 1 usb c hub that's normally posted here for like $20?

    • -1

Which 8 port hub would do the job at 4k?

    • Not too much. But those $20 ports don’t have 4k@60hz. That’s what the more expensive ones generally have in probably the more $70-$80 range - I’m just going from memory. I’m sure there’s probably cheaper ones. What this is, is a high quality build, with a stand(which are surprisingly expensive for some reason) some USB ports, 60w charging and most importantly(for me anyway) 4k@60hz HDMI in a really nice form factor which makes it great for people who want to travel lighter too. You get so many features in such a small package. For casual use I’d probably recommend a cheap hub on Amazon that has the certain ports/features you’re after.

    • Here's one I bought, coming today. Its $40 but they have 15% off at Amazon so $34 is pretty good and it has 4k @ 60hz. Some USB-C ports etc.

Thought you may like to check it out. Always good to have a spare.

  • Anything like this for the iPad mini 6?

    • Somehow struggling to find if it has a usb-c port, do you know? If it does, then this should work fine.

      • It does.

        • Yeah it's fine then. It will work. Great size for the mini too.

  • can someone tell me what people use this for? Assuming it's for replacing laptop?

    • +1

Yeah basically like an extra device/monitor for work or whatever. You can project the iPad onto s monitor. Skype calls and general office work. The original projection is bad like 4:3 aspect but apps out there to take advantage of the whole screen. And just a general stand/hub too since it’s so compact you can take it on the go.

  • Looks like it’s back up to $179. I got mine. Works perfect. Solid deal. $100 I think is the right price. But it is built to last and loving how it works.
