Lol these guys are 💩 💩

I wouldn't go with them even if they pay me to join.

Read the comments from the prev posts.

    Good luck op

    • +6

I signed up 6 months ago on the $2 plan. No issues at all. Flawless sign up and never had to call customer service.

      • -1

Yep you don’t have any issues until you cancel the service and port out your number. Please come back here and let us know your experience when you decided to leave them.

        • When did you use Circles & experience that issue?
Did you first read Circles FAQ dealing with Termination & Porting?
How much notice did you give that you wanted a Port? And was it within Porting hours?

Porting is a common problem no matter who you're with.
I've waiting up to 2 days with major Telcos.
And it's not necessarily the fault of the Telco being Ported from.

Have been writing here & in Wiki about cheap SIM deals for over 7yr.

Left Circles in these Deals many times over years - without a problem. It's easy if you read Circles FAQ. Unfortunately some don't!

I allow a few days for Porting to be completed. And also notify a month ahead that I am leaving - just to be sure.
Termination without Porting is even easier.

In old Deals, some complained that their Port was not processed before end of month (they tried to Port out on last day of month). So were charged an extra month as service was still active into 1st day of next month.
And if they refused to pay, no Porting proceeded. With all Telcos - you have to have paid outstanding bills before Port can proceed.

Many are still complaining after an issue they could have avoided, but ignored advice like this in comments.

Circles is a month to month plan, not prepaid where you can request a Port on last day or even later!

      • We're so glad to know you're happy with our service, aaronaldo! We totally appreciate you sharing your experience with us. Have a good one! Cheers

    • +1

To each their own, just letting people know in case they are interested. I am getting nothing from this 😂

    • Am with Circles. Have signed up many times for great Deals like this over the years.
      Never had a problem!

Currently on 15GB/mth plan through Groupon for 6mth - total cost $9
+30c for 1day in month before offer started (activated on last day of month before - to minimise pro rata cost for initial month at full price).

(Never offered a referral, as know from comments that Circles can be trickier than prepaid for some to understand)

      • +1

Damn, I missed the 15GB/mth plan through Groupon for 6mth - total cost $9 deal, how long ago was that?

        • 8 months ago Activated on 31/1 - my 6mths ends next month.

Then back to prepaid for a year, with Belong SIMs bought free with Telstra Plus points.

    • They're fine, used them for ages

    • +2

I have multiple circles 'cheap/free deals', good coverage and no issues with cancellation at all.

    • +1

Most negs in recent Deals are from those repeatedly complaining about past problems & negging like Thought I'd put this into every running deal

They usually didn't read the t&c of offers & understand what they were signing up to.
They seemed to expect this month-to-month plan to operate like a prepaid offer. They ignored the warning comments in Deals.

So got charged for another month (at full cost) when they failed to leave before last day of month.
Or ignored that the first month is charged pro rata at full price (I repeatedly recommended activating on last day of month so bill would only be cents extra!).
Or for exceeding included data (not checking usage or setting data limit on device).

      • Or ignored that the first month is charged pro rata at full price (I repeatedly recommended activating on last day of month so bill would only be cents extra!).

Pro-rated, even if activated on the first of the month? (One day on the $45 per month plan equates to $1.50.)

        • +1

If activated on first of month, it is considered part way into month by time it's activated… From past discussions with Rep & Circles. I've been on this 100GB plan in past Deals.

          Best to check current charges!!

First bill covers 2 months. There's an animated explanation in Circles FAQ to explain it.

So 150 cents extra charge if activating on last day of month vs $45 extra on first of month!!

In my case 5 months ago, was billed 30c extra for activating on last day of month (billed as $10/mth plan).

It's one of the conditions you need to be aware of! I have regularly warned about it.

But like all the issues raised criticising unexpected charges - they can be minimised or avoided.

          • @INFIDEL:

If activated on first of month, it is considered part way into month by time it's activated… From past discussions with Rep & Circles.

Thanks. Activation on 30/6/22 it is, then. (According to one of the e-mails that I received when I signed up this evening, my new SIM card will be delivered on 29/6/22.)

          • @INFIDEL: Hahha its too complex.. how much to cancel the contract?

            • @shegeloaf: 😉 It's designed more for those who want to stay on the Plan.

OK if you know what you're doing.
It's best to be warned / informed! And read Circles FAQ.

Have used Circles in Deals for years, from 2 to nearly 5 months at a time at minimal cost & no problems.

However, I like the flexibility of prepaid, as normally travel overseas each year.
But not the porting (so use a dual sim phone & rarely port).
SIM hopping - have had very cheap calls & data for over 7yrs.

Now moved to longer term commitments…

Went back to Circles on 15GB/mth over 6mth costing total of $9 (+32c) ending next month.

Then to Belong for 2 x 6mth free with Telstra Plus points. And a few free Belong data SIMs with 500GB ea.

Have 1c Kogan 30GB SIMs just in case.
And use Amaysim SIMs for incoming calls etc for a year after free credit expires. (Handy for Deals)

      • They've definitely improved since the initial feedback, still some quirks with port out being blocked due to mismatched account numbers etc.

Don't get the issue with the credit check… generally don't see anyone crying about it in the Telstra/JB voucher posts.

        • +1

There were so many complaints when Circles Deals were first posted!
          So many were confused.

I waited off to learn from others experiences - in comments. Had no issues.

Circles is designed for people who want to stay on a plan, rather than those wanting to use it short term as is common with prepaid. The t&c aren't so onerous if sticking around.

    • crazy deal but my national carrier in the long term got me an even better deal!

  • +6

The only downside is credit check

    • +2

      It's an ongoing month-to-month plan.
Unlike simpler prepaid services that don't require ongoing financial commitment & credit checks.

    • Yes, Rather be Travelling is correct! We're under postpaid service in which Credit check is a standard process. Credit checks are done to verify a customer's ability to make monthly bill payments when applying for services. Should you need further assistance, please don't hesitate to contact us through our live chat support channels and we'll be there to assist! Cheers

  • Promocode not applicable!

Ye these guys are shit. Make sure you cancel your service too

    • +4

That's what you need to do with all month-to-month plans (eg Gym membership).
      It's easy to do.

Otherwise you haven't notified you have terminated what you signed up to & are liable for ongoing billing!
      It's unlike a prepaid service.

Unfortunately, many OzBargainers buy first, ask questions later. Not a good idea when signing up a financial agreement!!

Had great Circles Deals for years.
      Never had a problem.

      • -1

whatever you say man, i see you backing a lot of negative comments. tell me you not associate with them.

        • tell me you not associate with them

I very much doubt it. I was reading the comments on some even older Circles.Life deals last night, and saw that they got caught up in the whole "OZBTRYUSOUT" saga last year….. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/562778

As for this particular deal, unless you're certain that the SIM card will arrive by 30/6/22 at the latest (so that you can activate it on that day, with a pro-rated cost of $1.50 for June), I'd say give it a miss. If you were to leave it until 30/6/22 (the last day of the deal) to order it, unless they got it to you on the same day (apparently possible in some state capitals), then you'd be best to leave activation until the maximum 30 days later, ie; 30/7/22. Your pro-rated cost for July would then be $2.90.

          • @Colin2905: yea the whole pro rater bs is wtf too… which company do that?

            • @SS625: It's a month-to-month PLAN with different conditions to prepaid. Those are pretty easy if you follow the advice.

Which other provider offers Deals this cheap (200GB for a few dollars)??

        • That's pretty insulting!
I do my best to help others benefit from these Deals, & avoid the pitfalls…

It's better to be informed than misinformed or ignorant😉
To help people get the best out of offers, I've been commenting on SIM Deals here for 9 years.
Based on that experience, in 2014 set up the original Telstra pre-paid starter pack guide Wiki.

Absolutely not associated in any way with Circles (not even in the Referral system). I just sign up for their good cheap Deals!!

Never had any issues, so the hate here seems an overreaction!

200GB for a few dollars is a great Deal!
As with all Deals - it's your choice

I understand why some criticise Circles. Its more complex than Prepaid. But easy if you understand.

Have given advice based on my experience using these Circles Deals over years - on how to avoid issues using this PLAN rather than prepaid.

A lot of incorrect advice in comments. Shows people don't understand how to get the most out of Circles Deals, or their t&c.

  • -4

Don't forget to pay or cancel your service, if you don't they'll hassle you for circles.life.

  • DO NOT PORT IN BEFORE END OF MONTH.

They bill you at the start of each month.

I ported into circles on the previous $2 for 2 months deal on 30th of April. I got charged $1 immediately for that day. And the next $1 for the following month. In effect I only got 1 month.

So if you want the full 2 months. Port in at the start of July or any other month.

    • Damn thats dodgy

      • Sure is if they are announcing these deals only towards the end of month.

    • I doubt that! I've used Circles many times for discount Deals. Currently on Circles.

That's different to my experience & comments in previous Deals!

      Are you sure?
Did you confirm your billing with Circles??

How it's calculated is shown in first bill covering 2 months:

My first bill: (activated on 31/1/22)
31 Jan 2022 -31 Jan 2022 (Charges are pro-rated from the date of SIM activation) $0.32
      01 Feb 2022 -28 Feb 2022 $10.00
      Adjustments (See breakdown) -$10.00
      Balance $0.32

Received charge of 32c for first month to my CC - as expected
Following 6 month was prepaid via $9 Groupon Deal

Previous advice in Circles Deals is NOT to activate on 1st of month, otherwise the entire first month is at full price!!
Pro rata first month billing is explained in Circles FAQ.

According to Circles, First month is charged at full price, pro rata by number of days connected. Following months are at discounted rates.

My current 6 month Circles PLAN, was charged 1/30 of first month @$10/mth = 32c.
Following months were at discount rate

      Don't know your offer…
But, if full price of your plan was $30/mth, the pro rata charge for 1 day would be $1. You would be charged that 1st month payment.
Following 2 months would be at discount rate of $1/mth.

      • I’m certain. I got charged for my supposedly second month. Talked to the customer service and they explained the charges. I asked them to refund me for the remaining days and they were willing to do it. But I doubt they would have refund it had I not asked. Anyway I’ll put my bill breakdown below.

        Monthly Plan Subscription (See breakdown)
        $25.83
        30 Apr 2022 -30 Apr 2022 (Charges are pro-rated from the date of SIM activation) $0.83 01 May 2022 -31 May 2022 $25.00
        Adjustments (See breakdown)
-$24.80 (**this is where I lost the first dollar **)
        BILL AMOUNT
        $1.03

        Monthly Plan Subscription (See breakdown)
        $25.00
        01 Jun 2022 -30 Jun 2022 $25.00
        BILL AMOUNT
        $25.00

        • Your “adjustment” amount and mine are different for the first month. Maybe they changed their way of billing.

        • Your first month (1 day) was correctly pro rata charged as 83c (1/30 x $25)

That would be billed to your payment method, not part of the $1 discounted offer.

The discounted months started in May ($25 - $24.80) resulting in a 20c charge in that month.

So bill for first 2 months was $1.03

          • @INFIDEL: But then from June, they started charging me $25. I don’t understand if this is not the case

            • @chankaran: Should have taken up that error with Circles.

According to the offer you described, that 2nd full month should have had an adjustment from the offer.

The issue certainly wasn't as you claimed.

Advising people to activate at start of month would have resulted in $25 bill for your first month, rather than pro rata bill of 83c!

            • @chankaran: Your total cost on that offer should have been 83c (1d of month before offer started) + $1 for each of following 2 months.
Suggest contacting Circles about billing. Found chat on app was essiest.

            • @chankaran: As you encountered…

Discovered Circles.life has an error with their their billing system in promotions!!
They are not discounting the last month of offer!!

Received email that this was my last month of 6 month Groupon offer. But have paid to end of JULY!
They will want me to pay for JULY… AGAIN!

              Checked the offer:
"Activate offer by: 31/1" Done on that date.

"First months bill will be prorated according to Circles.life 5GB for $10 base plan."
January prorated was charged 32c to my credit card in first bill. Which was correct.

"Subsequent 6 full months will be offset by the offer purchased on Groupon."
That is for 6 FULL MONTHS: Feb-Mar-Apr-May-Jun-July
(Offsets are the discount to reduce monthly bill to price offered.)

So far have received 4 months of offsets in 4 BILLS for Feb to May.
The current month bill for June is due to be offset on 10th of July.

That's only 5 months of offsets not the 6 FULL MONTHS of offsets purchased!

Sent them a strongly worded email. (Have taken a business to court in a complex case… And won!)
Chat would not be appropriate in such a complex issue. Attached the promotion offer. Will be hard for them to argue against their own t&c!!

[These issues can happen with any provider. Waiting for days on a response from Telstra for an error on their accounting system.]

              Just in case…
Changed CREDIT CARD to prepaid with almost no credit. If they try to charge again for JULY - on 10th August, payment will fail!
Set TERMINATION DATE of service to end of JULY. Gave reason for termination as "poor customer service".
Luckily I don't need to Port out, as an outstanding bill with any provider - will stop Porting!

Should be easily resolved - my first issue with Circles since first using in 2019.

An annoying administrative error, that should never have happened!!

As seen from chankaran's comment - some may not realise what the problem is & jump to wrong conclusions! It's hard to ask a business to correct their error when you don't understand what the problem is.

BAN THIS STORE FULLSTOP SAVE MY VENT

  • Thanks for the advice everyone.

So, if I join today, I should cancel before the end of July. Otherwise I’ll get charged full amount in august.

    Is that correct ?

    • From their T&C, I think you can join now and have the service activated at the start of next month. That way you'll get full 2 months until end of August.

      • From what Rather be Travelling has said, that's a bad (read: expensive) idea. If I've understood correctly, what you should do is activate on 30/6/22. This will cost you $1.50 ($45 / 30 x 1). You'll get a bill in early July for $2.50, being that initial $1.50 + $1 for the month of July ($45 - $44 "waiver"). In early August, you'll get a bill for $1 for the month of August ($45 - $44 "waiver"). To have the service cancelled at the end of August and avoid any further charges (at the full $45 per month rate!), you need to submit the cancellation request before the end of July.

        • That is some crazy. Crazy terms from CIRCLE. They need to make things easier not harder.

          • @shegeloaf: The sign-up process should probably start with a written exam, with a 100% pass mark requirement before proceeding to the next stage.

  • The link directly takes you to activation page. How about the SIM card? Do we have to wait for shipment or buy outright from somewhere?

    • Hey there mate! You actually have the option to get a sim card from any of our partner store or have it delivered to you for free. To proceed, just simply go to https://www.circles.life/au and click on Buy plan under the 100GB plan then enter the promocode: STUDENTEDGE100LIMITED. From there, you'll be asked for your delivery address and you'll also see the available delivery date/time. Should you need further assistance, please don't hesitate to contact us through our live chat support channels and we'll be there to assist. Cheers

Be Aware once you put your details on website YOU'll get credit check EVEN IF YOU NEVER ACTIVATE SIM, or never COLLECT SIM. I suggest to stay far far away from this life of circles, and amaysim, litterally go and choose any other provider like vodafone, boost, kogan, telstra, optus, coles, woolworths etc

    • what happened to amaysim?

      • Just personal bad experience, One of the worst customer service
        1. They ALWAYS CONTACT AT A TIME OUTSIDE the TIME I TOLD THEM TO CONTACT ME.
        2. Bad system which didn't allow me to redeem groupon's 6 renewals for $12 on my main amaysim account (I think its because it already had a number).
        3. Really bad customer service.

Anyway all that aside main problem why I would never ever use them is because

        I had a groupon deal (6 renewals for $12)
I bought it, and I could not use it on my main email ID (lets just say that as [email protected] , amaysim said I need to create a new email ID, so i added a fullstop in the main gmail ID, (told amaysim okay then put the groupon under [email protected]. Amaysim assured me that they fixed up the groupon and everything, such that the 6 renewals was on my email [email protected] (with my desired phone number).

In reality what amaysim did was they put the 6 renewals on the [email protected] (which had a number which I didn't give a dam about).
And amaysim put only 1 month renewal on the [email protected], (I know that because upon end of the first period I got email saying payment failed etc. I had to waste so much time on amaysim support etc. after a while they assured me they fixed up everything. But they again did not they only added another 1 renewal on that [email protected] account. I know this because at end of 2nd renewal I got same thing payment failed etc. I again contacted amaysim so much, This time they finally made it clear to me that they put that 6 renewal groupon deal on the [email protected] (which had an unused, undesired number). I never asked amaysim to activate the groupon deal for me on the [email protected], I asked them to put it on my desired phone number (which needed a porting, and amaysim themselves had told me that only way i could redeem groupon was by creating it under a different email, such I told them CLEARLY TO ACTIVATE GROUPON deal @ [email protected] which they never did).

If I knew amaysim support would stuff up redemption of groupon deal this bad I would have had never asked them to activate it for me, I would have had redeemed it totally by myself without any error on a different email. That number linked to [email protected] was useless to me. To be changing numbers etc. is a main in the a*s. I decided to get that number on Telstra plan, from this deal for 7 months account validity + get to test 5G speeds on telstra network which are awesome like averaging around 400-600 Mbps

  • I received my first invoice today, having activated on 30/6/22. Based on the T&C's ("$44 waiver per month for first full 2 months."), the following wording in the confirmation e-mail….

    "Bonuses
    $88.00 Bill Credit ($44.00/month for 2 months)
(Bonus will be added from the second month onwards. Pro-rated first month is excluded)"

…. and the many comments on OzBargain, I was expecting to be charged $1.50 for June, but I've only been charged 3¢ for that one day, after a waiver (pro-rated, obviously) of $1.47 was applied. The bill waiver of $44 for July is on the invoice, as expected, with the invoice total being $1.03.

Based on that, what's likely to happen in August? A waiver of the full $44 (which would seem generous, by $1.47)? A waiver of $42.53 (being $44 - $1.47)? No waiver at all (ouch)?

My gut tells me that I should schedule a cancellation for 31/7/22 instead of 31/8/22, and simply not risk it.
