Will need to add an M.2 2280 NVMe SSD because Lenovo cut corners on the storage

HDD as the OS drive!?!! Should be illegal in 2022

    • +3

thought this was a 12th Gen i3 and got excited for a second..

      Also

      https://www.tomshardware.com/news/microsofts-reportedly-tryi…

"A recent executive brief from data storage industry analyst firm Trendfocus reports that OEMs have disclosed that Microsoft is pushing them to drop HDDs as the primary storage device in pre-built Windows 11 PCs and use SSDs instead, with the current deadlines for the switchover set for 2023."

That’s definitely the right direction. Considering a 250GB SSD costs about the same as a 1TB HDD, it makes no sense to have a HDD as an OS drive.

        • What is the carbon footprint of an SSD compared to a HDD ?

Both are zero. Neither have any feet.

Not bad for a plex server

  • Is this a good and efficient replacement for a n40l? I worry about power usage from a machine that's old as the n40l.

    • That's what I'm on the hunt for too. I only need room for 2x 3.5 drives and 1x 2.5ssd and a 7th gen+ i3 would be fine

    • N54L

      • Lol. Bit hard to find.

    Wow.

    Optical Drive
    Hard Disk

Are we sure we don't need a:
    Floppy Drive
    or a
    Tape Drive?

i've got my iomega zip drive ready and waiting..

    • There are 2 different models in the pictures, 2 front panels with no disk drive, 1 with disk drive. Wonder if it is actually fitted.

      • Both pictures are of the same model. It's a sliding panel.

        • Ooh how fancy.

  • Is there an option to update this with ssd and Gpu? To make it a budget gaming pc

    • GPU will cost more than the rest of the PC.

At that point, you might as well get a prebuilt from TechFast or BPC, for a better deal with both SSD and GPU included.

  • $449 for a PC with an i3 and mechanical drive is a little farfetched.

  • HDD as boot drive?
    Oh dear!
    I'd be happier with a 128GB SSD 😂
