The Sonoff look like boxier versions of Aqara products.
    The price however is good

    • +1

Yes but Sonoff seem to be more reliable when used with SmartThings hub - less dropouts! In fact I had no dropouts with Sonoff motion sensor so far in about 2 months of use, whereas with Aqara this was a regular and frustrating occurrence. One added advantage of Aqara motion sensors is light level detection, which Sonoff motion sensors are missing.

      • +1

Aqara can take umpteen attempts to connect and pair too!
EDIT: and they’re both still better than Tuya, don’t even get me started on trying to make a Tuya device work with Deconz or Z2MQTT.. it’s all non spec

      • Have you tried the Sonoffs with a conbee ii? It seems that homeassistant/conbee/aqara is more reliable than homeassistant/conbee/sonoff, according to posts like this:

        https://community.home-assistant.io/t/conbee-ii-sonoff-snzb-…
        https://community.home-assistant.io/t/sonoff-snzb-02-temp-hu…

I've personally had zero issues with aqara pairing and connecting, so not sure whether to try Sonoff…

The Aqara window sensors appear to be the most annoying, the new ones that support zigbee 3, but they eventually pair.

Actually the easiest to pair have been the cygnet devices.

          HASS/CONBEE2/DECONZ

        • No, only with the smartthings hub.

        • +1

Thing I learnt about Conbee, is that it has a limit of X instructions at a time. More and they are lost. So if you have multiple devices they can suddenly drop off the network. Sonoff do a USB stick that alleviates this issue, and it's ~ $25.

      • Agreed. I bought one to try and it's been flawless and as reliable as my hue motion sensors. Aqara ..don't even start

      • +1

I have a number of Aqara devices on SmartThings and dont have any issues with them dropping off the network. But i do have a few TRÅDFRI repeaters around the house.

        • Thought about buying the IKEA stuff but ended up not bothering

          • @EnergicAU: I got them years ago mainly to get a signal to both sheds because there's wasn't many 240v zigbee devices at that end of the house to act as repeaters. They work well, i have a ton of zigbee devices now and probably dont need the repeaters but just leave them running. I have some Aqara battery devices going through 4 hops back to the hub and they stay stable.

    • The problem with the Sonoff PIR sensors is their reset time is 60s. Swapped a lot of mine out for Hue as they reset within 5s.

    great price!

  • Nice timing! Getting ready to deck out a new home with Z-Wave so will be poking-about your site with interest.

  • Cheers OP, good price on the motion sensors!

Bought 5 to replace the absolutely shocking Aeotec MultiSensor Gen5's I've been fighting with for years now.

From quick google search, doesn’t seem like these Sonoff sensors work with Conbee 2. Has anyone tried this and got it to work? I know that the Aqara ones work well.

    • +1

I have 2 movement sensors working with Conbee 2 and Zigbee2Mqtt as well. No problems with connecting, and also have Aqara as well.

    • Work well. They have been rock solid, unlike my Aqara

    • Completely untrue.

  • Does anybody make 5GHz wifi smart home gear?
2.4GHz is getting way too crowded!

  • +3

I've used the sonoff motion detectors with Conbee ii and zigbee2mqtt - they pair perfectly. The quality of the sensors is poor though, they tend to fail after a couple of months. I bought three at the start of the year and all are now not working.

The door sensors are incredibly poorly built - more like a poor 3d print job than a manufactured item.

Great price though for the z wave sensors. I bought a couple to experiment with.

Sonoff ZigBee door sensors have been flakey for me with my Sonoff ZigBee 3.0 dongle and home assistant ZHA. Xiaomi door sensors have been better

    • I found that I needed to replace all my Xiaomi sensors with Aquara ones as the Xiaomi are won't connect to anything but the Conbee itself once paired - ie they do not truly support the mesh, so all need to be located near the Conbee. Aquara ones once paired will definitely connect to repeaters.

      • Trigger pairing from a router device first and see if that helps?

  • Planned to spend ~$100, logged onto ozbargain just to check for coupons or anything and caught the post an hour after it went up. My bank account now weeps in $300 more spent. After having dealt with one of the 'local' sellers off Ebay, man oh man they sucked hard.

Hopefully the motion sensor is better than some people say. Though people complain about the door sensors and they've been excellent for me. Think it comes down to coverage a lot of the time. Any plans for further sales? Chasing some smart buttons, switchbots, etc.

  • Rep, is there any chance to re-stock the ZOOZ 4-IN-1 Z-WAVE SENSOR? Thanks

  • So far so good, insanely quick postage (I did pay for Express..)

The Motion sensors paired to my Hubitat hub no problems using a custom device handler, just had to remove the bottom cover, the battery isolation sheet and then paperclip in the hole in the side for 5 seconds.

Response and effective range seems OK so far, but currently all indoor in small-ish rooms.
