Telstra id can obtained with $2 Sim card or if you have had any Telstra service in the past
I don’t have any of those. All I have are just eBay giftcards
Buy a $2 Sim on eBay
@silenthillrocks: It’ll take a week to arrive
@Ebaygiftcards: That's fine, the deal is for 12 more days
@silenthillrocks: On the 12th day of EOFY, Telstra said to me, please bring some physical ID.
@Ebaygiftcards: I don't care what you have, you're a troll here…
@[Deactivated]: I think the only troll here is Telstra, thinking a Google Pixel 6 128GB for $849 is a bargain. They should bring back the S21 256gb deal from last year
I'm picturing a man in a house made of printed out eBay gift cards , eating a bowl of eBay gift card porridge and drinking steeped eBay gift cards
@badonde: You forgot the eBay gift card printed car, fuelled by eBay gift cards to run.
You just need to be a CDMA mobile phone customer.

I'm still waiting for an iphone12 i ordered a year ago
This doesn't make sense…
it does, as in "it never arrived"…
Are you still waiting or have you got a refund already?
@Ebaygiftcards: i didn't pay for it - i ordered it with my telstra account and i was asked to provide physical IDs and stuff to the nearest store.
@WhatsTheBigDeal: So you… didn't give them any money, and they didn't send you an iPhone?
I'm not sure you understand how society functions.
You haven't got an item you didn't pay for.
Which reminds me, where the hell is my Ferrari?
@Brianqpr: What about me and my Huracan… How longs a brother got to wait for his ride!…
@scud70: Better read all the downvoted comments before replying :) I said it didn't process - I didn't say I paid and never got it. It's like an application process - society works sometimes like that too - they provide goods/service and send you the invoice later. Not everything is upfront paid :)
@WhatsTheBigDeal: Oh well I was just trying to on up Brian 😂…
@Brianqpr: Did you make an order for your Ferrari and provided all the info they asked for? If so I would expect some communication lol
@WhatsTheBigDeal: Of course it didn’t arrive. You hadn’t paid for it
@Ebaygiftcards: Dude - it didn't go that far, don't know how many times to clairify that LOL
Hmm, isolated incident maybe? I’ve never had issues with Telstra. They are pretty quick with deliveries.
that's possible - but my problem was why they needed to physically check ID, bank cards and bills to give a phone outright? they could have simply charged me upfront and sent me the phone. maybe the process is different now - but back then you get the phone first and the invoice comes later on mail even for outright purchases without a plan with it.
Telstra bought back all franchised stores, except Vita Group - see Telstra announcement https://www.telstra.com.au/content/dam/tcom/about-us/investo…
Are you really waiting for over a year to resolve the issue or is that exxagerated to add drama to your story
as i mentioned, i did try to follow it up for a couple of weeks, they said its processing etc but never got any update, i wanted to buy it before end of eofy so i just gave up Telstra order and went with JB for a slightly higher price.
No drama mate, "I'm still waiting for an iphone12 i ordered a year ago to arrive" was just a figure of speech, meaning the order i placed online last year this time never got processed. If you got a refund then you're not really waiting. Unless you haven't got the refund and still battling then the figure of speech makes sense.
@yellowfever: didn't pay for it in the first place - i placed the order with online account - then i was asked to provide IDs physically at a store. Produced IDs physically at two stores (this was during peak of Covid if that matters to them) and it never got further than that.
Meanwhile, Telstra’s system is showing:
“I'm still waiting for the customer that ordered an iphone12 a year ago to arrive”
@Ebaygiftcards: yeap vote it down for that one sentence, but the gist of the story remains the same. just a warning for anyone placing the order online. hope it helps someone to avoid online order and consider buying it over the counter if possible.
Nothing against the deal mate.@WhatsTheBigDeal: I didn’t down vote anything mate. Just simply making a joke that they are probably still waiting for you to collect the phone one year later.
@WhatsTheBigDeal: Something still doesn't add up though.
If you 'ordered' an iPhone 12 'without' paying AND they requested ID checks etc., then the only reason they requested it, that I can think of, is that it was ordered as part of a contract, maybe even with a mobile plan (knowingly or unknowingly). Otherwise there's no other reason to request for ID.
However, if you purchased the iPhone 12 outright, then you pay upfront and get the phone outright… no ID check required, as you're paying for it. You can't 'order' outright and expect an invoice later, it doesn't work like that, unless you're under a contract.
@mrsecrecy: I agree, I'm with you as well. It was an outright purchase without a plan - it baffled me as well at the time. Oh well anyway I just shared my experience of what happened to my online "order" so it might help anyone else if it happens to them.
I have dug up the email and I remember asking this about this on Telstra forum as well. Posting as is including order number for anyone who thinks I'm making it all up. Apologies if I have "worded" my first post incorrectly giving a false impression that I paid for it and never got it.
"You're almost there
Hi Prasanga,
Order number: F21142216563580
Thanks for placing an order with us today. Unfortunately, we're unable to proceed with your order right now as we need to physically see your ID.
If you'd like to place your order again, please visit your local Telstra store with three forms of ID and your proof of address;
- Your driver's licence or passport (with your photograph & signature).
- Two other forms of ID, such as: Medicare card, bank card or birth certificate.
- Proof of address (your lease agreement or purchase of land contract). "
The whole bringing physical ID to a store thing sounds like when their system automatically ran a fraud check on you for the order, it declined for whatever reason. That’s why they ask you to go to a store to check it out.
If this is in fact true, send me a pm with your order details and I’ll look into it
Thanks mate my email extract is above, anyway no need to bother now I had enough of following up and finally made the purchase from JB.
If you are associated with Telstra, can I ask why do you need to check IDs for an order I was to buy outright without a plan?
I bought an iPhone 24 from them and am still waiting for it 12 years later ( figuratively speaking)
Wow that CPI inflation must be true, didn't the last Telstra day on March 22 have this Pixel for $800?
EOFY is a bit of a dud this year
Tempting but too buggy
Phone has been out for a while now most bugs ironed out
Not according to Marques Brownlee who did an updated vid on the phone. Frustrating really because I would like those cameras
P6 Pro zero bugs right now..
@badonde: And it's effectively only an extra $100 after HN voucher right now. Seems like the better deal.
Who the heck is Marques and why should I weigh his opinion over actual owners?
@jaimex2: It's MBKHD on youtube
@jaimex2: Actual owner here…
The camera has no flicker detection/correction, so be prepared to have black/white vertical lines on your photos if taken under LED lights. Considering homes, offices and public spaces are nowadays 100% LED lit that's a huge issue. Only if the cameras shutter speeds matches the LED frequency there won't be any lines… good luck with that.
Also, the option to turn off HDR in the camera app is gone (compared to my old Pixel 2XL) and the phone tends to exaggerate with shadows and saturation.
I would not recommend buying from Telstra online. I purchased (and paid in full) the Google Pixel 6 on the last deal for $799. They shipped the device and it's been in transit now for 8 weeks with Startrack, who themselves are classifying it as lost in transit when I spoke to Startrack. I've called Telstra at least once a week since then (they always promise to call back but never do) trying to get this sorted and they REFUSE to send me a replacement or offer a refund until they complete their investigation with no time frame on how longer that will be, telling me everytime to wait anywhere from 24hrs to the current time of 3 more weeks.
They even were the ones who told me to contact TIO to lodge a complaint about it, which I've done but is now a 6 week wait for a case manager for the TIO to look into it. Telstra has the worst customer service when something like this happens and would not recommend buying online outright from Telstra.
Have you considered disputing the charge with your credit card provider as being not delivered?
Pm me your order details, and I’ll look into it on Monday
Thank you for looking into this and assisting with getting my issue sorted!
I placed the order at $799 too. Got it delivered in 2 days. Very happy with the purchase experience and the phone itself.

still cheaper even if it's a grey import
What's the deal with grey import ? If it's brand new surely it should be ok and the specs the same or better than an Aussie version? Would the instructions be in a foreign language? What would be the neg from buying this from kogan or some smaller independent stores based in Australia?
I'm assuming turn around time in getting fixed ? Has anyone had any problems with grey import product before?Might not support all local 4g/5g bands or not support volte/vowifi
What's the deal with grey import ?
You pay less for something that has less support
If it's brand new surely it should be ok and the specs the same or better than an Aussie version?
Sometimes better, sometime worse, it depends.
Would the instructions be in a foreign language?
Do you need instructions to use a phone?
What would be the neg from buying this from kogan or some smaller independent stores based in Australia?
Support. Local stock comes with local support, grey imports don't. So it depends on how much do you value this.
I'm assuming turn around time in getting fixed ?
Yes as well as it simply not getting fixed at all.
Has anyone had any problems with grey import product before?
Yes.
Would the Pixel 6 Pro be a better deal direct from Google for a coupla hundred bucks more? Or is there a few drawbacks to the Pro?
Feel like I'll probably wait another year or so for it to drop down or see what the next model is like, but getting more and more tempted.
HN has pro for same price as Google plus $100 gift card if that helps
Good to know. thanks OP.
Check ebay. Lots of second hand as new pixels
Got a pro for just over 700 with a case. Looks brand new and works great.
These things lose value so quick, new is a waste of moneyBuy it with your amex and get screen replacement insurance too.
OK, let me see if I have this right. To buy an outright phone I need to provide to Telstra a) licence, b) passport, c) hair of virgin, and d) blood of endangered goat (not just an ordinary goat). Then if I'm lucky Telstra will choose me to sell a phone to. Or I can just go to JB and buy it no questions asked.
you have it right, that's exactly what happened to me last time…
Telstra are so awful to deal with , they are an Aussie dinosaur like Qantas.
They rest on their name and know people will pay for what was a premium service, while feeding customers some of the worst service possible .I've worked with them with a partner company and for high level business they are not better .
As the new generations come thru they will die off as no one will see them as premium anymore imho.
It's durable. Working in a hangar, I've dropped this thing on concrete multiple times, and it hasn't cracked. It's very slippery, and due to the angle it makes on a flat surface with it's camera shelf, it can be prone to sliding off things with the smallest influence.
It's also deceptively unwieldy for a 6.4" screen size phone due to it's thickness, massive camera shelf and 2mm bezels.
No real fast charging is also a major negative.
you do realise most of your problems can be solved with a case right?
Case makes it even larger. I liked the phone but got rid of it due to its size.
For a phone with the “best camera”, the camera has same serious issues and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.
The camera is useless under any kind of LED lights as every photo will end up with thin/thick vertical lines over it (when lights are on). It’s because the LED lights flicker (really fast) and that is messing with the camera. My wife can’t take one decent photo with her Pixel 6 in our house if the lights are on as everything is LED. Strangely enough my ancient Pixel 2XL has no problems. First we thought there’s something wrong with her phone but a bit of Googling revealed it’s a general Pixel 6 (as well as 5, 5a, 4, 3) problem/defect.
Hmm interesting. Anyone else got the same issue here? I m considering pixel 6 or plus
Did not happen with galaxy s22
Just curious, does this happen only with the image preview when taking a picture, or does it affect the final picture too? I know the Pixel 6 photo 'preview'/viewfinder image can actually look quite different to the final picture, because of how much computational editing happens after pressing the shutter button.
Both preview and final photo. It's highly dependent on the shutter speed (which the camera adjusts automatically). If it happens to match the flicker frequency of the LED lights, there's no lines. If it's out of sync, you get the lines.
There's many threads on various forums showing/explaining the problem:
https://support.google.com/pixelphone/thread/126957675/verti…
https://www.reddit.com/r/GooglePixel/comments/qwekgn/pixel_6…
https://www.reddit.com/r/GooglePixel/comments/rgzawh/i_have_…Everything is LED lit today. Homes, offices, public spaces… Not taking that into account when designing the "best camera" phone is a huge fail for Google. Apparently it could be fixed by software (some kind of flicker detection/correction) and people say Samsung phones don't have this problem. Knowing Google, it will never be fixed.
Forgot to mention that HDR can not be turned off when taking photos and the phone tends to exaggerate with shadows and saturation. It can be turned off on my old Pixel 2XL, no idea why would they remove the option to turn it off.
Pretty happy with it - much prefer the 6 of the 6 Pro. I hate curved screens.
Just checking does this discount also apply to the pixel 6 pro 128 ?
Last time ordered a iPhone 12 mini on telstra online - was on back order for months then cancelled my order!
Talked to telstra chat online, the CSO stated that the 256gb black was on back order at the warehouse despite stating "in stock"..
So didn't want to take the chance again - Price matched at jbhifi. No issues and was quick.Waiting 6A out soon
This is only $100 more
If it were just that it would be an unquestionably better buy, but the Pixel6 and 6pro come with a bucketload of issues that don´t seem to be fully solved yet, maybe the 6a is more polished.
The only big loss for me is dual-band gps. Other than that, 90hz would be nice, but not a deal breaker.
Would this deal be considered targeted given you need Telstra ID?
