Apple TV $39 Diablo III $20 Flip Flop $1 Amazon Kindle $59 Silver Bracelet $10 1TB HD $49 @COTD

638

I got an email from Scoopon confirming the COTD flash sale. Below is the email:

The votes are in, and it's all about to start! Tomorrow (Tuesday) at 11AM AEDT, we'll be launching the latest edition of our "FLASH SALE" (our popular hour-by-hour sale where the products are decided by our customers). Simply enter the Catch of the Day site at 11 AM AEDT and we will be featuring 12 deals, one deal per hour on the hour. Here are some of the featured deals:

Apple TV – Just $39
Diablo III – Just $20
Traditional Black Havaianas – Just $1
Pandora Silver Bracelet – Just $10
WD 1TB Hard Drive - Just $49
Amazon Kindle - Just $59
and 6 more fabulous deals!

Remember, this is a members only promotion and as such you will be required to login to gain access. Also note that as always, the quantities on the flash sales are strictly limited and vary from deal to deal. We advise that anyone who may find a few server crashes or waiting around too stressful to give this event a miss. It gets pretty crowded, but there's always outstanding value in this amazingly democratic event!

It seem that they will be doing 1 deal/hour. I am not sure if its by the most popular order first or not.

If yes then it will be Diablo 3 from 11am-12am, then the Apple TV > WD 1TB Hard Drive > Amazon Kindle> Pandora Silver Bracelet and lastly $1 flip flop. They also said and 6 more fabulous deal, so may be they will might be doing the next 6 popular as well.
Good price but stock is limited and the server may crash. If you dont have the time or patient then just give it a miss as they suggested, dont go for it and then complain that they wasted your time. If you do have time and patient then good luck getting a great bargain.

Mod: Please let me remind you again the Voting Guidelines of OzBargain, especially regarding to the negative votes. We will revoke votes that do not have valid reason.

Not Okay —

COTD sucks

Okay —

  • Bait advertising — requirement membership but no stock
  • COTD's server crashes when I am trying to complete the transaction.
  • Their website is no usable.
  • Quantity is too limited to be called a deal.

All I can say is good luck…it's every man for themselves. The last one of these I managed to have a good win, got the PS3, 3DS & the Nikon Camera. It's worth reading the COTD facebook page during these crazy sales…the whinging by unfortunates is gold.

Another tip…always pay with Credit Card & not Paypal…the Paypal processing takes too long. You need to copy and paste that credit card number!

      What a disappointment!
11 am - $1 Havaianas but Black or white only, sizes 35/36 only and $5.95 for postage. I've bought them for $2 at Kmart previously, and in the colour and sizes that I want.

      • +1

you know what they will be trying to flog off at the upcoming crapathon :)

      • +1

12 pm - STANDARD definition set-top box for $19.95 including postage. Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha

        • +1

1:00:00 pm - 1:00:05 pm - Diablo III (for PC) $27.95 including postage. If you took longer than 5 seconds (after 1pm), all stock available for sale totally disappeared.

      • zz. it already said on the cotd website after you like everything that its only available Black or white only, sizes 35/36 only. What it didnt include was the postage.

    • I call BS with this post.

      Catch of the day employee.

Trying to get these items would be a complete waste of your time. It is we'll known that the product numbers of these types of items will be very low. COTD is balls.

    • not only do they usually only have very low qtys of the items - but the website gets so overrun it pretty much goes down for the first 20mins of every hour and by the time you can log in it is sold out.

    • Nice try, fellow bargain hunter :)

  • +1

    again?

  • It's waste of your time. Last time I got nothing…. Quantity is very low and they don't tell you how many in stock.

  • I wanted the Dyson

  • +13

THis is more like a lottery than a bargain….stock will be slow and their server will be sluggish or crash…good luck!

    • I don't care if the stock is slow or fast, as long as there is some. :)

    • +3

Exactly. It's a lottery post, not an actual bargain. Needs to be shifted to the forums.

    http://www.accc.gov.au/content/item.phtml?itemId=836386&node…

"Bait advertising occurs when a business advertises or offers goods for sale, knowing that it cannot supply them in reasonable quantities for a reasonable period of time."

    ZANG!

    • and why is nobody ever complaint to accc?

      • +1

The ACCC won't do anything because they are declaring up front that they have low quantity and you're probably not going to get anything.

Reasonable quantities is about what the consumer expects. They tell you what to expect.

  • +2

this is harder than winning lottery, coz if you won lottery, it wouldnt say "TIMEOUT" and sorry no more prize for you.

my biggest monster to kill in these kinda deal days is always the fact that I CANNOT CHECKOUT.

  • +1

this is more of a competition where you have to pay for prizes, rather than a sale…

  • +2

There is likely less than 100 items of each, so even if the 6000 people who liked each one on facebook are the only ones on the site, you have about a 1/60 chance.

    Save your time.

    • +4

Ah! But are you saying that so you're the only person who turns up to purchase, leaving the rest of us in the cold? I'm on to you fellow.

    • 1/60 is far better odds than the lottery!

    • +5

More like less than 10 items. COTD should be required to state quantities available especially if they want to appear credible. As it is it is just bait advertising.

  • +2

is it just me or does the Pandora Silver Bracelet look ugly?

    • lol you're supposed to buy and put charms on there as per taste, that bracelet is just a building block. It's like lego for ladies. Very. Expensive. Lego.

  • +1

    |Sarcasm Alert| I've got a better chance of winning the $5 million Lotto tonight - than scoring a $20 diabllo 3 from COTD

  • +2

not a big fan of COTD Flash Sale anymore…waste of time…not even tempted…good luck guys.

  • +1

Everyone, diablo 3 is confirmed for 12pm sale on the Facebook page

    • can't see anything on their Facebook page

    • It was the 1pm sale, and all gone within seconds, unfortunately.

  • +2

How many of us will still show up on COTD today given the negative votes?

    • Most of the negs will be from people who try and don't get one.

  • i presume price PLUS postage?, so no big loss if miss out

  • cotd -ve

  • +2

Until they post some quantites i will call BS all day long. 1 item is not a sale.

  • +1

These sold out in about 20 seconds last time. They must have about 5 of each of these in stock.

  • +2

lol their t&cs pretty much sum it up:

"By entering CatchOfTheDay.com.au today, I understand that I'll be competing against some 400,000 fast Aussies for a very limited quantity of products and my chances of getting something are quite slim."

  • +3

lol the website has crashed already

    • +2

you think by now they would have realised what a load balancer is, god damn

    • the more you refresh the page the quicker it loads ;)

  • Thongs first up, size 35/36 only

    • size 4/5? For a guy with size 10 feet that's like midget shoes!

      • I have size 13 feet, I never had much chance :(

  • Thongs, limited to one pair, and in tiny size. AMAZING DEAL.

    Neg you very much.

    • +1

      people voted for them to

      • yes, but i think they would have rightly assumed that the thongs would come in a variety of common sizes

  • +2

lol the traffic totally dropped off after people found out it was thongs.

  • size 35/36 black and white thongs for $8 :S

  • +2

    AHAHHAHAHAH funny… as predicted..
the catch of the day has a catch involved…

    • thanks for stating the obvious

  • depr just bought the thongs for some fvcked up reason
… i am dissapoint in myself

    • I hope you have small feet

    • So you paid $6.95 for a pair of thongs?

      • dont make me re-live it haha
ill give them to my little bro
        damn waste though

    • +1

      are you a midget? :)

  • +5

Diablo 3 is only the box with a card with the starter edition in it

    • +2

There is much truth in this comment.

    • Wow thanks for pointing that out….
Gotta check the specs tab before even pressing that bite button…

The delivery could even by for another $10+ and shipping time could be a month too… lol..
In that case, a $49 Diablo3 deal would fare better and less frustrating!

    • how sure are you on this?

because starter editions are pretty much free if you frequent some forums.

thats absolutely disgusting if they are trying to flog off boxes and starter editions.

COTD's Server is Unusable and Crashes Konsistently

    • That equates to 'COTD SUCK', you missed an s.

  • +1

that was not my intention. I must have very bad spelling…

Give me a word starting with S!!!! I have one but im pretty sure I cant use it on here

  • i only want the bracelet if i get it i will not neg this post as if i dont get it it will because of very slow servers or not enough stock cos i will do it right on when it comes in

  • i will wait for the next hour one. hopefully it will be the diablo 3. :)

  • itll probably be the last deal of the day as well to keep site traffic high

  • Who on earth voted for the Havaianas? And why aren't they buying them? I smell something fishy, and I'm not talking about the tiny feet that they fit.

    • I'm pretty sure the Havaianas never made the Top 6 in voting and they never got many votes, so it's definitely a fudge (if not fraudulent) that they included them with this sale.

COTD are probably just trying to unload some of the 54,000 Havaianas they picked up last year: http://www.catchoftheday.com.au/news.php?article=565
