  • any way around it if you don't own apple/samsung product? just a regular android phone

    • +1

I guess Citi must be promoting Apple/Samsung Pay for a reason - so this deal is great cashback as long as you can tap your Apple/Samsung phone i.e. no online purchase

      • Are you sure Apple pay is limited to mobile NFC?

        • It's not.

Apple Pay works with iPhone 6 and later in stores, in selected apps, and on participating websites in Safari; with Apple Watch in stores and selected apps (requires iPhone 6 or later); with iPad Pro, iPad (5th generation), iPad Air 2, and iPad mini 3 and later in selected apps and on participating websites in Safari; and with Mac (2012 or later) on participating websites in Safari with an Apple Pay–enabled iPhone or Apple Watch.
…You can also make in-app purchases and websites in Safari where Apple Pay is available as a payment option.

    • Use Tinder and find a loan of a compatible phone.

  • Just applied a few days ago for this. No instant approval which I found odd these days. Am even an existing customer.

Any ideas from others who might have gotten a Citi CC product lately - when it’s approved, do they issue something i can add to digital wallet while waiting got card?

    • +1

I was thinking of applying tonight.
However last time I applied for a Citi credit card (2 years ago - bonus Qantas points) - it was a bit convoluted to get approval. I got it after submitting payslips however my partner (same salary, same age group, same address, even better financial situation overall) got declined for no reason

      • +1

My original Clear card about 9 years ago that I still have was similar experience.

This time, part of the process was uploading 2 payslips was standard FYI.

Amex was the same a few years ago. Asked for more payslips, PAYG statement and an employment letter, for what was not a big amount,

        • Yeah agree. We both selected the lowest credit as well, on applying. They ask for all sorts of documents (seems excessive!)

    • +2

I applied this card 4am last Saturday (Yes. I am a sleepless old man). And got approval sms/email yesterday afternoon. So it took about 35 hours. Strange they did something on Sunday though.

      • That is odd. I did mine about 3am Saturday morning, but it just says pending etc. I wouldn’t have expected anything to happen without someone in the background processing it on a weekday, so that’s a good outcome for you. Please do reply if you have a response to my card question (do they allow you to add it to digital wallet prior to the physical card being received).

        • +1

Nope. Just checked approval email and in the app. There is no way to add yet.

    • +1

      no

  • +3

    NAB owns it now.

    • Yep

    • so?

  • Would be great if we could spend the $2000 (via Apple/Samsung Pay) on gift cards. Should work right?
Then use gift cards over next 3 years (rather than rush and buy big ticket items by 29 June 2022)

    • +1

Yep that’ll work. They don’t know what you’re buying, just the merchant details..

  • -1

When do you actually get cash back? next year? Can I just cancel one I get it?

    • -1

What does the link provided say?

      • -2

        idk I'm illiterate I guess,

  • -2

    Minimum credit limit
    - $15,000

Yeah Sorry you wont be eligible :((

  • is there any exclusion if you are/were a customer?

    • Yes I have a Citi rewards card at the moment. Would like to find out.

    • I had the Citi Premier card with them last year and cancelled in November 2021.

Are there any exclusion periods? The T&C doesn't mention this deal for new customers only?

  • 600 minus 150 = $450!
Better than double the ol Combank.
    Collect the cash
close with due diligence to be eligible again next time they place the trap!

    • +1

Yep $600 cash back is pretty sweet (effectively $450 after annual fee paid). Some ABN holders might be able to claim that annual fee as a business expense, so even better!

      • -1

Congratulations! Lesson no1 learned under socialism.
Stupidity can ONLY fixed with more stupidity.
I could teach you some more, could write a book about failed greenies like sugarboy Simon etc…

    • +2

Yeah 450 is brilliant for the churners. Anyone know if we're able to get a pro rata annual fee refund when closing early? I know NAB does it

      • Enter the word Churner into the title box. Just for fun!

  • Any way around the 75k income eligibility

  • Annual fee is vague. Does it not mean your annual fee can only be 150 if you spend 48000? Who spends that much? So is it not basically $300?

“IF you spend $48,000 on eligible purchases or cash advances in the previous year. Otherwise $300.“

    • +4

      Standard annual fee = $300
Discounted first year annual fee = $150
Second, third years = supposed to be $300 however can be discounted to $150 if you spend $48k

  • Eligible Transaction is defined in the Citi Rewards Program Terms and Conditions and means;

any purchase excluding (but not limited to) Cash Advances, Balance Transfers, Special Promotions, BPAY payments, purchases of foreign currency and travellers cheques, transactions made in operating a business, payments to other Citi branded accounts, bank fees and charges such as interest and ATM charges, transactions made using Points and government related transactions. Government related transactions include transactions with government or semi-government entities, or relating to services provided by or in connection with government (for example but not limited to transactions made at Australia Post, payments to the Australian Taxation Office, council rates, motor registries, tolls, parking stations and meters, fares on public transport, fines and court related costs). Please note that whether or not a transaction is an Eligible Transaction will be determined based on information provided either by the merchant or the relevant financial institution (including information about the type of business conducted by the merchant). This means that, for example, spend with certain merchants may be characterised as spend with a government related entity and therefore not an Eligible Transaction, even if that merchant is not in fact a government related entity; or
any Citi PayAll Payments (for Domestic Spend only, International Spend is excluded)

but excludes any transaction that you are not permitted to make under your Account Terms and Conditions.

  • $300 a year isn't cheap and even the interest rate seems a bit high on this.

    • +2

I always pay balance in full monthly so interest rate (in my case) is irrelevant

  • I have to spend about 6k shortly… Can I get this, pay the 6k with Samsung Pay and claim the $600 (not sure if any purchase is an eligible purchase), then pay the $6000 back a few days later. Then change the credit card to a Citi Clear card which is $99 with lower rates. The plan is to move away from using my debit card. I want to get a card like $2000 and then move my salary to this card and use it on a monthly basis (I believe this helps with your credit score… Want to buy a house next year so want to boost it as much as I can haha)

  • Any idea when this available until?

  • Spending $2000 via apple pay or samsung pay sounds like a bit of a hurdle.

    • I have to fix my for 6k… so it is easy to spend 2k in some situations haha..

    • +2

You can make your purchases with zip pay and after pay and then repay using Apple Pay.

      • Interesting, can you apple pay via a PC? I don't have any apple products unfortunately (fortunately).

  • Does this require the 12 month cooling period as well? Can't see anywhere in the T&Cs. I cancelled the Citi Rewards with 100k flybuys pts late last year so I'm still within the usual 12 months. But anyone knows if I'm eligible with this offer if they're different cards and maybe now that Citi is owned by NAB? Cheers

  • Can I cancel the card after 12 months?

    • Why wouldn’t you be able to?
I was planning to cancel after min spend..

      • Great, if that's the case

  • how long does it take till the card arrives? applied Sat night and just got approved this morning.

    • Mine took about a week.

  • Why is this marked as expired?

I read the terms and conditions and they state the following: "To be eligible to receive $600 cashback, you must apply for the Citi Premier Card by 31 August 2022, then spend a minimum of $2,000 on eligible purchases using your new card through Apple Pay or another eligible digital wallet within 90 days from approval."

  • I have spent over $2k but how do i track which are via Apply pay and which are not? Anyone received the cashback already? pls share.

    • Did you get some info on this?

  • I spoke to someone today. There's no way they can confirm what was paid via Apple/Samsung Pay. And once the criteria have been reached it will take 16 weeks to receive the cashback. This should be automatic and no need to inform them or anything. That's a very long time to wait for a cashback lol

One thing I didn't ask was can I pay it off now and just leave it open until I get the cashback?

  • +1

received the cashback this morning, got a card ~ the first week of july.

    • +1

yup i got it this morning too - received my statement this week and it was adjusted by $600.
      nice to know that.
