The Citro Card is a rewards debit card that
Quote:

So this is a new product, apparently backed by AMP. It's aimed at over 50's but my 22 year old signed up successfully.
No credit checks, just a debit card so needs the KYC check (ID & photo).
Seems like they also offer 'exclusive' deals and cashback for other purchases with specific retailers.

Citro offers a cash back payment to New to Citro Eligible Cardholders of up to $100.00 AUD who apply, are approved for a Citro card and transact with a Citro Partner Merchant within the Promotional Period.

2.1. $50 cash back will be applied to the Eligible Cardholders Citro card as Stored Value upon successfully completing the sign up process for a Citro Card within the Promotional Period.

2.3. An additional $50 cash back will be applied the Eligible Cardholders Citro card as Cash Back Credit upon complete your first purchase at a participating Citro Partner Merchant.

Edit: Couple of things from t&C's (joincitro.com.au):

It does say you have to be over 50 to be eligible for the cash back.
The second $50 is reliant on using the card with a participating retailer, which seems to mean one they've got deals advertised with.

    weird product?

what does backed by AMP mean? issuer is
Hay Limited (Hay), ABN 34 629 037 403, Australian Financial Services License: 515459

Hay issue the cards (whatever happened to Hay, the finance app?) the same way Heritage Bank used to issue the Qantas money cards. I had a Citro card but cancelled after 12 months because I didn't want to pay the monthly fee which used to be $10.00
P.S. Citro probably have some good deals but in my impecunious state I didn't avail myself of them.

Upvote for use of "impecunious state", which I had to google.
Had guessed it was someting to do with Victoria.

Feel like I've finally found my spirit cave / home / family.

App (and server) block applicants under 50 years of age, don't bother trying if you're under.

      Age discrimination!!

They probably are relying on the weak memory of 50+ year olds to forget to cancel their subscriptions after a year
