          • @WookieMonster: The question is, does it allow split payments using these cards.

            • +2

@fatice: At a self checkout, no, unless you partially pay the amount owed using cash and then pay the remaining amount owed on one card.

At a standard checkout, yes (but only if staff allow it).

(My answer is only relation to purchasing any gift cards at Coles.)

      • +1

        Thank you @WookieMonster !

  • +2

Some old staff makes their own rule and enforce 5 cards per household.

    • Yes, I saw a staff stopped a family from getting 20 cards in the last promotion in Kardinya WA.

    • Yeah some staff also said I can’t buy gift cards if I’m not wearing any clothes.

  • +1

Any ideas on whether this sale will occur again later in the year?

    • Tends to occur every 3 or 4 months, so hopefully that trend continues.

    • +4

My prediction is 19 October 2022.

    • Apart from catalogues does Coles publish their future planned sales in advance?

      • +2

No WookieMonster is just being brilliant.

  • Just purchased 5 $250 cards at coles Myer centre in Brisbane city. Still at least 15 or more at the service desk . They are getting pissy at people buying these cards.a lot of $100’s

  • Anyone managed to get these to work on the online VicRoads rego payment?

    • Yes it worked for me (but I pay 3 monthly, amount due was less than $250). Not sure if you could pay 700-800 with them on one go.

  • So question, can I buy 2x $250 gift cards to combine the total amount to $500 and can I use this card to purchase goods online?

    • If you want to combine 2x $250 Coles Mastercard Gift Cards into 1x $500 prepaid gift card, you’ll need to purchase a $500 prepaid gift card (and pay an additional purchase fee).

Considering the difficulty with using a prepaid gift card online (due to some missing security features), your only options are realistically limited to:

Gift Card Purchase Fee Sold at… Notes
OnlyONE Visa gift card $7.95 Officeworks, Woolworths The version sold at Officeworks has no PIN. The version sold at Woolworths has a PIN.
Australia Post Gift Card by Mastercard $5.95 Australia Post I don’t know whether Australia Post accept Mastercards as a payment method for this. It also depends on whether a staff member will let you purchase this prepaid gift card using Coles Mastercard Gift Cards.

My table assumes you’re looking for a $500 Visa or Mastercard prepaid gift card.

I have seen mentions of a $500 Vanilla Visa gift card in the Vanilla Visa gift card Cardholder Agreement, but I have not seem them stocked at Coles or Target or The Reject Shop.

Btw, if you’re wondering how straightforward it is to spend these prepaid gift cards online, I suggest you look at the pinned post in this deal, as it covers that topic.

      • I ask because I want to purchase a new soundbar online for $484. I wanna know if I could add the two gift cards to a total balance of $500.

I could use the hack of adding the gift card to my paypal account as a way to pay for the goods online.

        • I don't know about online use (I suspect splitting payments may depend on retailer) but I purchased from The Good Guys (bricks & mortar store) last time around and paid $518 with 2 x $250 cards and $18 cash. They were right on the ball and no issues. I tried it again (split payment) a day later at a different retailer and they fiddled around for 10 minutes before declaring it couldn't be done on their system (although I suspect they just didn't know how). All you can do is try but don't be too surprised if it fails.

        • +2

I wanna know if I could add the two gift cards to a total balance of $500.

No, it is not possible to do that with the Coles Mastercard Gift Cards (or really any other prepaid gift card, unless you purchase a new prepaid gift card), largely because of concerns related to money laundering and terrorism financing.

I could use the hack of adding the gift card to my paypal account as a way to pay for the goods online.

True, but you can only use one linked card (in conjunction with your PayPal balance) to pay for a transaction online with PayPal. You cannot use two linked cards in one PayPal transaction.

Btw, which retailer are you looking to purchase from? You may be able to use one of the Coles Mastercard Gift Cards to purchase the retailer’s own gift card, and use that in conjunction with your other Coles Mastercard Gift Card.

Just posted below about using the card at AusPost to pay rego. My local AusPost were happy to let me use the card but I did tell them it was just a credit card. Nearly undid myself when I didn't PIN and ended up signing a slip that they compared to my drivers licence but wanted to see if the name on the card matched my ID. Luckily they just accepted that it was a prepaid mastercard and didn't question any further but I would advise always using the PIN option now.

      • +1

can confirm I tried AUstralia post gift cards last time. It did not work.

    • Not sure why you would do this? I get you’re going to eventually get a card for free but all that effort when others just want to save 5%
You also risk losing this offer for good.

      • -4

Because I don’t want to deposit lots of cash to buy $10000 prepaid cards. If you rinse 5 cards in different stores, you are not breaching any of the condition (I can say someone sent these card as a gift).

        • I didn't think you could use existing prepaids cards to post for new ones. I thought they stopped that last time around. Is that what you mean by rinse?

    • +9

about 100 cards with my friend, and there are only a few left

100 cards?!? Are you f***ing kidding me?

People like you are the reason the rest of us have to deal with stupid restrictions.

      • -7

If you want to blame, There is one guy on this post “invented” the rinse and wash. I just learnt from him/her.

        • So when someone is shot we should blame the person who invented the gun rather than the person who uses it? You're in denial. The bottom line is that you trying to deflect the blame for being selfish and greedy - and doing a poor job of it.

      • It goes both ways. In the stock market, we cannot blame those who bought the shares at a low price and sold it at a high price because we did not do the same. Opportunities do not come so often.

I am happy with my 5x100 and pay out the power bill with a small discount. I might get more if they happen to be in stock.

        • This is different from the stock market. In the market, for the same growing stock, you have more shares, and you get more profit. However, for the "card" rinse, people are thinking "wtf, why you can get $2000 with just $1100". This is why they feel "unfair".
They won't blame those who spent $22000 and earned $2000, but they will blame those who spent only $1100.
For the gift card stock, I already saw 2 shops holding hundreds of $250 at the customer service desk. I don't think I blocked those who want to buy.

      • +5

Sure, someone "invented" the rinse and wash, but that didn't mean you should overly abuse the system and buy 100 cards.

When more people get caught trying to buy 100 cards, Coles will stop running the 10% off promotion altogether. I honestly don't even know why they do it in the first place. Surely they know the system is being gamed. Why not just a good discount on something that isn't cash.

It wouldn't shock me if they stopped running this now that it's getting more and more popular. With inflation rising, such methods of getting free cash will be exploited by more people. You (Neytirix) seemed to have a sense of entitlement that Coles owes you. Nah, bruh….. they don't owe you.

        • I don't care about Coles, whatever who owes whom. Coles isn't my employer and not my customer. I got the profit, that is it. They will not bankrupt because of this tiny loss.
I don't like this 10% off event either. I prefer the flybys point. I will only get 5 * 8 = 40 cards for that event. However, 10% seems to be limitless, if you don't do it, then you got the loss.
They should do 15% off Apple gift cards more often. I will only get $2000 worth annually to upgrade my phone.

          • @GiftCardHunter: Hi bro how do you rinse and repeat this time. There seems to be a 4 hour wait for the card to be active. Is there a way to get around this 4 hour wait. Pm me .

            • -2

@Hemesh91: No way, you buy 10/20 initial and do it again every 4 hours, and you can rinse 40/80 cards per day per person. If you are not a student who just finished the semester, don't do it. It is not worth it if you have a full-time job.
I have heard some store managers rinsed all the stock with their friends. They are the real pros. They can just pretend "saw nothing" and let their friend purchase it 5 by 5 until the shelf is empty, then share the profit. So don't blame me, there are lots of others doing the worst things!
I have to stop because the managers are asking me to leave, well…… I lost because I don't know them well.
Remember to empty the balance immediately if you decide to stop the rinse. I suspect Coles may "freeze" the cards.

              • @GiftCardHunter: There is a way bro. I heard someone that got it straight away and no wait.

              • @GiftCardHunter:

rinse 40/80 cards per day per person. If you are not a student who just finished the semester, don't do it. It is not worth it if you have a full-time job.

If you end up with $20 per card after doing that then you are getting $800 to $1600 per day tax free

That's worth doing if you have a full time job

                • +2

@spaceflight: Making money is never easy these days, Just concerning:
                  1. It is not a continuous profit. Who knows how many cards you can rinse.
                  2. It is risky to leave your position and make your boss pissed off (ignore this if you are the boss).
                  3. This is really time-wasting, and you MUST be shameless to ask them to check out one by one. Don't split the payment, they will easily recognise you and ask you to leave and don't come again.
                  4. There must be multiple shops with $250 stock nearby (it is not worth the hassle for $100 ones), practically you cannot visit the same store 4 times a day, they will recognise you for sure.
                  5. If you don't have an electric vehicle, think about the gasoline cost.
                  6. Being asked to leave and warned "do not come again" is not feeling good. I respond to this by telling them "Never mind, I already made thousands of dollars profit", and they will stare at you and you just run and escape. Oh, it means you cannot come to this store again, and try a new one instead.

I hope the stock is being cleared soon, or the promo ends soon. I am tired of doing this.

                  • +1

@GiftCardHunter: Pls give some tips, where do you find this uninterrupted stock? maybe you can share the store you don't want to return.
Is there a preferred time to visit a store which has more chances of you scoring the GC, coz whenever I go its sold out. Tried morning around 8ish, tried arvo, tired evening, tried late evening. No success.

                    • +1

@maverick1: This is about luck, the best store is those with lots of opening staffed checkouts. If you want to rinse, PLEASE do it one by one in separate transactions. You can then use the 18.7 to pay bills. Do not split the payment with 250s, I promise the manager will come to greet you if you do this.

                      • +1

@GiftCardHunter: I'm not looking to rinse, but looking to buy upto 10k to pay some bills. just got 5X250 so far.

                        • @maverick1: I drove around NSW to hunt the cards (thanks to electric vehicles and free NRMA chargers). This is why I don’t fear their “warnings”, simply because I will never come again for sure. Tesla is the best thing as you can sleep in it to save the motel cost. If you are nearby, Stores in South Canberra has 100s of $250 as of last night. Or you can just go around and seek. If you pay with your “normal” bank card, nobody stops you even if you visit multiple times a day. They just pissed of recycling cards.
Be quick! It is Friday now, and I am sure people are clearing the stock during weekends.
P.S. I am not the pro. The real pros are those store managers who deny other customers but allow their friends to rinse (maybe they will share the profit). I just don’t have time to play with them, otherwise I will take videos and let them lose the job.

                          • +2

@GiftCardHunter: I love your posts…..sitting in my chair, heater on and have popcorn…keep posting your gift card travel stories.

                            • @Coops1: Never mind, I enjoy earning $3000 in 2.5 days as a University student who hasn’t started the internship.

Much better than Uber which only gives me <$200 a day.

                              • @GiftCardHunter: How do you rinse anyway? I thought Coles won’t allow you pay with gift card anymore, what am I missing?

                  • @GiftCardHunter: Lol even gasoline cost is nothing compared to how much you are going to make in each store. Those Ampol/BPme offers are there for a reason:)

  • I just tried to call them and email th in regards to checking the balance online.
I cannot get it to work nor can I find an email address or speak to a real person.
On my iPhone it asks to verify by selecting the traffic lights but it doesn’t work.
    Has anyone got a solution.

    • Worked fine on desktop for me just earlier.

      • Yeah I’ve heard it’s ok on desktop. I do t have one so I need to contact them to see if they are going to rectify it.

  • Has anyone tried adding these cards to Apple Pay or Google Pay?

    • +1

I tried last week and it didn't work.

(I know it says in InComm's FAQs that it is possible, but I think the FAQ is borderline rubbish.)

      • +2

That's a shame. If it worked, we could use it to possibly top up our Revolut account or other similar products.

    • +1

Maybe wait for one of those 10% off Apple card deals and then use your Coles $250 MC to pay for it?

  • +5

Just paid my QLD registration/rego (both for the Ctrl+F tags) at AusPost.

They scanned the barcode on the bottom of my rego renewal email and were happy to split the payment. Asked how I was paying and I just said credit card where they advised I would have to pay the credit card surcharge of 0.52% for Mastercard and then asked how I wanted to split the payments. My total rego was $345.95 and since neither me nor the AusPost person were sure how the surcharge was going to be applied I just split it as $200 and $145.95 across 2x$250 cards. I expected it to apply evenly on both payments but checking my card balances now it has been charged as $200 on the first card and then $147.75 ($145.95+$1.80 fee) on the second card.

Didn't enter a PIN on the first payment (just hit green/go button instead) and had to sign a print out slip. Keyed a PIN on the second card so expect it will now use that PIN in future.

    • Is it successful? My rego bill says no part payments

      • I paid the full balance owing in one overarching transaction at AusPost. I just used multiple payment methods. Is your bill a QLD rego? Other states might be different.

        • Yes it's qld. Just afraid of multiple cards used but the gov doesn't accept.

    • Can I ask which post office? I tried 3 yesterday and none would process in multiple transaction. Even the $60 initial payment wouldn’t process with the gift card.

      • +1

I went to the LPO at Moorooka.

        • Not sure whether it was my card not activated yet, the post offices I went to or if TMR QLD don’t allow traffic infringements to be paid with gift card. I kept getting Cheque or Savings account. Tried both and neither would work.

          • +1

@Nomoneys: because the biller doesn't accept credit card as payment method.

    • I tried going to two different Auspost to pay for my insurance bill and both time i was told i couldnt use these cards to pay

  • +1

Such a good deal. Free money!

  • +2

I can confirm that you can still earn flybuys points on these cards.

    • +1

The staff that served me insistingly said that I won't get any point. From my experience, I always got the points.

      • +1

You do not earn any Flybuys points when you purchase a gift card issued by Coles Group at Coles (e.g. Coles Group & Myer, Officeworks, First Choice Liquor), so the staff were thinking of the wrong gift cards.

        • But scanning flybuys will give you very bad offers for a long long time.

          • @ATangk: It hasn’t for me. (At least not lately.)

I’ve been spending on average about $250-$350 a week on gift cards at Coles for the last few months and having been scanning my Flybuys card, but my minimum spend on Coles/Flybuys offers has been stuck between $70 and $80.

I also don’t care about those targeted Flybuys offers, because my average weekly spend at Coles is only $30 a week.

          • @ATangk: That used to be the case a couple of years ago.
It hasn't been the case for me so far.

          • @ATangk: rubbish

    • +1

Confirmed, got 1xxxx points posted today. This gives you an additional 0.5% profit.

  • Anyone knows how to prepaid council rates using these cards at Post Office?

    • Easier to do it online.

  • Can someone please confirm that you can earn flybuys points with this purchase?

Some say yes and some say no

    • +2

      You can.

I earned 1x Flybuys point for each dollar I spent on Coles Mastercard Gift Cards yesterday (and also two weeks ago).

    • +2

Yep, mine came through today, 1,156 points from the 5x 250s I purchased yesterday.

      • -3

It could be the Coles Master card earning the point, not the coles purchase transaction.

    • Yes - despite the fact that some assistants will tell you that it won't. Ignore them and be sure to scan your card.

  • I had a Coles prepaid MasterCard that is expiring soon and had like $50 left… Tried to use it up the $50 on this deal but it rejected the transaction. Any ideas?

    • +1

Load it up on you ATO/CouncilRate/Private Health Insurance account as a credit toward future payment… minus whatever surcharges any of them incur

      • Let's say I do that and surcharge is like 50c

Does that mean I load $49.50 instead of $50 or it won't work?

        • Dingdingding ✅

        • Yes that's what you do

      • -1

Haha, just found out these card can't pay ATO anymore.

        • +3

          Are you sure?

I successfully made a payment to the ATO seconds ago using a Coles Mastercard Gift Card (and I did that after I read your comment).

          • +1

@WookieMonster: I do not know why, the first one is okay, the 2nd one declined. I will try again tomorrow. Not sure if the card wasn't loaded properly.

            • +1

@CoreJava: It's most likely because the second card is not ready to be spent.

Keep in mind that the ATO usually only lets you redeem up to five cards within a 12-24 hour period, so that is also something to be mindful of.

  • Strangely when I went to purchase the 1TB SSD from TGG online earlier ($4 left to pay after gift cards) it wouldn't accept the card (tried twice so I definitely input the correct details). Ended up just paying it with PayPal.

Also the balance check site is currently giving a blank white page (on mybalancenow.com after redirecting from colesmastercardbalance.com.au). So we can't check balances currently (besides calling their customer service I guess)?

Edit: Site is loading properly now.

  • Anyone known if buying these gift cards would increase your weekly spend if using Flybuys ?

    • If I say no, the comment will be negged.

It seems FB do not have bonus pts incentive for a $300+ purchase so that any purchases beyond it may not count into your regular shop. It is an aberration. I did have exp that it did not increase the spend target after one/two weeks. Having multiples is always better, which allows me to not scan the FBs that have good offers atm for this deal.

    • -1

Why would you scan your flybuys when you get no points?

      • +1

You do get points, 1pt per $1 for the gift cards I got, so around 700pts for $750 worth of gift cards.

    • +2

They’ve changed the logic. Gift cards no longer contribute to your stretch target. It used to, but it’s changed. You get points for 3rd party gift cards. You always did, despite the flybuys terms and conditions, but they’ve updated the Ts and Cs to reflect what happens IRL

      • My spend target is $50 normally, but today I got a $30 spend offer, two weeks after I purchased four $250 in one purchase on that card.

        • Same here, pretty surprised to see that offer!
