  • Are these becoming readily available now or will shortages continue through this year?

    • +14

      Both, probably

    • I remember seeing this a few weeks (maybe months now?) available at Big W. I would say given circumstances there are still shortages. Especially if this is a preorder for 3 weeks in advance. Who knows the quantity

  • +7

    Great console!

    • +19

When you’re feeling down, it will console you.

      • +2

        Can vouch

        • Username checks out

  • What is the warranty here on these please?
Does it work out better to get these from Telstra and pay it over 2 years meaning you are covered for warranty for 2 years?
There was a ruling many years ago that meant that if a phone was on contract then the provider had to provide warranty for the life of the contract.
    I assume it applies here?
The Telstra deal just means you are paying full price for Game Pass Ultimate subscription unless I am missing something?

    • +9

I imagine that buying this from an Australian retailer that you'd get 2 years of warranty under ACCC laws anyway?

      • +1

There’s no such thing as 2 years warranty under the ACL.

        • +2

Isn't it worded something like "reasonable time for the price of the product" or something? What are we missing?

    • +3

Microsoft are pretty good with their warranty here in Aus. Generally can log onto your MS Account page and the device should be linked there with warranty info, generally 2 years, my launch day Series X for some reason covered until April 2023.

The Telstra deal (Xbox All Access?) isn't the worst. Ends up a little cheaper than RRP last time I checked, obviously lets you repay it over time too however there are much, much cheaper ways to get a decent Xbox Game Pass Ultimate Subscription if you don't have a current sub.

      • They treated people with the faulty Elite controllers pretty badly and the red rings of death fiasco

        • +1

In Australia? For the most part dealing with them for warranties here is fairly autonomous if the item is listing correctly in your account. Basically can lodge a fault online, get a shipping label, and post it off and they send you a "new" replacement generally the same day they receive the faulty unit. Prior to that having to do an online chat with Xbox Staff the moment they see you're from Australia their attitude changed almost instantly in regards to any warranty issue I found.

The warranties in other countries are pretty sucky I must admit, not excusing their equipment being meh at times, I had a number of issues with both my Elite V1 and V2.

          • +1

@MBix: Yeah my experience has been great, red ring warranty was super fast and my console was quite old by then.
Elite series 1 eb games just gave me a new one after a year when the rubber grips came off
Elite series 2 I sent away with no attachments, replaced with new attachments, also after a year.

Also, register your Microsoft products online for extra warranty

  • +3

Worth mentioning they have a trade in deal:
$499 - when trading in Xbox One X
$549 - when trading in Xbox One S
$599 - when trading in Xbox One S All digital

    • +1

      And EB world bonus too.

      • -1

        Gee… $600 for x1x on level 4. A $150 upgrade to a series x is totally worth it.

        • How much does an XSX cost in the end on level 4 with an X1X trade in?

            • +1

@CheapWrangler: what's the maths on that?

              • +1

                @lasterato: 749 - 499*1.2

                • @tajid: So $300 for the XSX! very decent. Now, do I need one?

                  • +5

@lasterato: I don't think anyones maths here is adding up.

You don't get 499 trade in for xbox one X, you get $250.

If level 4 is 1.2x then you'll get $300. XSX will cost $450

The reason I said $150 before is because someone had already replied saying you get $600 for a one X @ level 4

        • I took this as you pay $499 for the XSX if you hand over an X1X, effectively you are getting $250 for the old X1X console.

          • +3

@FabMan: Correct. Why would they give you $499 One X but $599 for the One S Digital 🤦

            • +2

@PainToad: I'm afraid those numbers are how much you pay when trading in..
$499 - when trading in Xbox One X
$549 - when trading in Xbox One S
$599 - when trading in Xbox One S All digital
              so, they basically give
              $250 for Xbox One X
              $200 for Xbox One S
$150 for Xbox One S All digital

    • No trade-in offer for Series S? Probably its better to sell outside

    • Any idea about the original xbox one?

  • +2

This + Retroarch = amaze balls

  • +4

Considering MS have had it 10% off (via ShopBack gift cards) consistently the first or second week of the last few months, not seeing why full RRP is still a bargain.

    • +4

You still can buy EB Games gc @ 4% cashback
More for those who missed out on the Microsoft deal yesterday or if they’re trading in their Xbox console

      • Fair point.

      • 6% if any one with Macquarie bank marketplace.

        • Good reminder, I get 8% discount through work benefits.

  • +2

My Xbox Series X with 1TB expansion ran out of space yesterday, my PS5 with 1TB expansion is still half empty. I'm enjoying the Series X + gamepass way more than PS5.

    • +1

Yeah, XBOX got more games available to play while PS5 got a much smaller range with their shxt priced subscription.

      • True. Would love the chance to try Sony's PlayStation exclusives though. They have some wonderful first-party titles.

  • Comparisons between this and a ps5 from those who have actually played both?

    • I would also like to know. From my understanding, performance is similar/same however PS5 has more exclusives? Whereas Xbox has the game pass?

    • +6

Graphics wise I've found little difference. I run my Series X at my desk where there are 1440p 120hz monitors and it works seamlessly, sadly PS5 is yet to offer a 1440p solution AFAIK so I run it on my main 65" 4k@120hz TV which I don't enjoy playing multiplayer on. In my case PS5 gets way less use but that's because most the people I play with are on Xbox so most multiplayer games I play are on Xbox or PC and Game Pass Ultimate is incredible. Have loved some of Sony's exclusive offerings in saying that. Both Spider-Man games are great.

Pick what works for your situation, don't listen to the bullshit console warring turds. There's no wrong answer right now.

      • +1

thanks heaps, at least these are available unlike the PS5's!

    • +1

Sony has se great first party titles but they don't release a lot of them and they are like $80+ at release. They are also starting to release first party titles to PC if you have a PC. Performance wise they are basically identical.
Xbox Game pass is where it is at though, it's amazing value.

    • +2

I have both and love them both, if I had to choose only one I’d say Xbox and that’s because of gamepass. There’s just so many great games to play there and it’s great value - plus you’ll get new release first party games on day1. PlayStation have the heavy hitters like horizon forbidden west, god of war etc but Xbox also have some great exclusives in Forza Horizon 5, halo, gears, sea of thieves etc. so it comes down to personal preference there. Performance wise it’s much a muchness… PlayStation have a slightly better controller but xbox has quick resume which is just incredible.

    • I have both, and if I had to sell one now it would be the PS5. Their exclusives are great (like unchartered, God of War, etc), but apart from that the Xbox wins for me.

Also worth noting that the Xbox still don’t have built in batteries for their controllers, so you need to replace the AAs or buy a recharge pack (which I did). It honestly shocked me that they’re still using AAs in 2022.

And by looking at FB marketplace, it seems like the resell value is still higher for PS5, so if you wanted to test the waters you do that and sell it without losing too much money.

      • +2

Easily replaceable batteries are so much better in the long term.

Can still pop batteries into my 360 controllers and they work like new. You can't say the same about PS3 controllers.

        • Fair call, just feels a bit 2012 not 2022. Also the batteries that came with the controller lasted me all of 3 weeks :-/

  • +1

Check Bigw. I got one Tuesday and had a x7 points offer which worked out well also.

  • Can Microsoft make more controllers? My one that came with the box loses sync with the console at times, bloody annoying

    • +2

Touched on it a little above, it will still be in warranty, log into https://account.microsoft.com/devices/ and it should be listed there (can add it if not) lodge it for service and get a shipping label to send it to MS. They're fairly quick getting a new one back to you. I shipped a faulty one off on a Monday here in Perth and had the new one in my hands on the Friday. Can only imagine it would be quicker for East Coasters

  • -5

Don't see the deal here. You can already get them on scumtree and marketplace below rrp

  • I've walked into Good Guys two weeks in a row and they have had both PS5 and Xbox series X stock for walk-ins, with nothing on the website. Suggest also trying GG if you're close to one.

    • This is true.
I just checked with my local who said they and their surrounding stores received approximately 10 (or more) consoles without any form of advertising. They don't have a wait list either so its pretty much a matter of just rocking up to your local or giving them a call first. It seems everyone has forgotten about TGG.

  • +1

Do they have a trade for XSS as well? I want to trade my XB1 and XSS at a time for the XSX.

    • Of course.

  • I got lucky. My launch day ps5 shit itself after a update a couple of months back. Amazon just straight up refunded me on return. Same day I was able to order a XSX from telstra. Had it the next day

    • Uhh why the neg and how’s this relevant to either EB Games or Xbox Series X console?

Also why the private browser link and not a link from Chrome, Safari or Microsoft Edge?

Edit: I did a quick check on your OzB user and based on your recent comments, you had been downvoted a lot by other users and neg deal post with irrelevant comments too

  • +1

I ordered one from EB in Feb. Still don't have it. Called them and they say it's still on the way.

    • 😳 Wow that’s kinda wild. When they’re from Microsoft they seem to be delivered the next day or two.

    • I ordered one from EB Games last pre-order and still don't have it. I followed up with them and they go "we tried to call you and you didn't answer so we gave it to someone else". Never had a single missed call or email…

      • +1

Its retail speak for "a staff member sold it to a mate"

    • Yikes. Glad I went with MS direct. Ordered Wednesday, delivered Friday.

  • Anyone know the Level 4 trade in for a PS4 Slim 1TB?

    • +1

Assuming it has not changed from the last time I asked:

      PS4 Slim 500 GB was $220 * 1.2
      PS4 Slim 1TB was $230 *1.2

  • Anyone else get a sms saying its been shipped.

    • Yep 35 minutes ago.

  • +1

Just got notified mine's ready for pickup now.

So with shopback I was able to use 11x $50 vouchers with $2 cashback each time = $22. Couln't use more than that as the archaic ebgames website system only allows a single voucher for a transaction online which is pretty poor.

  • Picked up mine today.
