make sure choose a supplier with 12m fixed term to lockin energy rates

    • Will be interesting to see how much of a difference this makes in the long run… at least in Victoria, prices don't seem to be rising too much

      • +1

The big hykes will happen at towards the end of June. Some states will be more severely impacted than others. Smaller companies who are retail only (as opposed to being generators) will be worst affected. Now is the time to move to a fixed rate if you can find something suitable, although they seem to be getting harder to find.

        • Any suggestions for a good deal in Melbourne with fixed rates?

          • +1

@arcticmonkey: Im in SA. I found a deal that worked for me with Origin Energy. That deal was only accessible directly through their website - it didn't show up from any of the comparison sites. Perhaps worth visiting the websites of the big players.

          • +1

@arcticmonkey: Use the energy compare websites. But if you're lazy, Lumo or tango.

  • +2

Also read the rate documents carefully, I found Tango with the SB cashback had higher rates than Tango direct, so it made more sense for my circumstances to apply directly

  • +2

This only has select providers, so the best rate here, may not be the best rate overall.

I just checked and they don't have my retailer (GloBird) and best rate found there is still about 5-10% above what I'm paying now.

  • +1

I signed up for Tango through this and I found that my rates were the same as what was advertised on the Tango website. Everyone should definitely double check before proceeding but I'm guessing it is only higher sometimes…
Hopefully the $170 definitely comes through as that will make up for the higher daily charge compared to what I had at Reamped :)

  • Not happy. I entered my postcode and told them what service I wanted and all the other information requested. They then required my contact details. When I entered them, they immediately and instantly came back with a message that they had nothing whatsoever to offer me. They already knew this when I entered my address and situation. They should not have required my contact details to tell me they had nothing.

BEWARE THIS MIGHT BE A SCAM TO GET YOUR CONTACT DETAILS

    • +2

Given others have signed up successfully through this, it's pretty unlikely it's a scam.

    • +4

Signed up through shopback the other day, no issues at all. when it asked for contact details you can just put random info, but then when it came time to sign up obviously but the correct information.

  • +1

Yes, for Energy Australia the only plan on offer is the Flexi Plan with variable rates. On CR it’s a smaller cashback bonus but you can choose the fixed rate plans.

  • Signed up last week through CR with $70 cashback… That hurts

  • question - how long do you have to keep the new energy deal to qualify for the cashback?

    • i cant find any info on shopback site re this - on cashrewards it says 75 days
    • +1

not worth the $170 cash back if the condition is to stay with the provider for 75 days.

Victorians can switch energy providers from Jul 01 to claim the $250 incentive instead - as posted here https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/697758

      • +3

You don't need to actually switch to get the $250, just use the comparison service

        • +1

Thanks for clarification! then yes the cashback today is worth it!!

sadly i cannot sign up with momentum - seems like they are in the midst of updating the online joining process?

          Can anybody join momentum today?

          • @howard22: Nope, they ceased taking customers a few days ago. As did Ovo, Reamped, and probably others. There's been huge price increases in the wholesale market so retailers are taking a loss.

    • +1

In the SB T&Cs: "Users must also remain with the brand for a minimum term period of 75 days to be eligible for cashback."

      • thanks draw -

  • @gotyourback Can I split the transaction to switch my electricity for the $120 on one day, and then on the next day switch my gas for the $90? There's nothing in the T&Cs to indicate otherwise.

    • theres a risk its only for one day

  • +2

this is all pretty mickey mouse

i got to the final step which is to enter the verification code that they send to your mobile

problem is the code never arrives - so you cant enter it - so you cant switch - so you cant get the $$$

    pffft

    • Strange that it doesn't work with SB Econnex, but no issues with CR/Econnex.

  • +1

I tried to sign up. It needs a verification code SMS to my phone but it isn't sending them at the moment.

  • check the mobile number they are sending it to, it will tell you what number.. I had to edit mine. Edit by clicking on red cross. I got my SMS after that

  • does not provide the option that best to me.
I want both elect and gas fromTango while it ia not in the list

  • Put in my address and I'm only allowed to choose Energy Australia. Where's everyone else?

  • I have heard nothing from Energy Australia. Looks like I am not switching. I could have gone with Cashrewards. Really peed off

  • They did not honour this offer, I lost the energy australia $75 sign up bonus too thanks to them
