  • how hard is it to install? can it be DIY ?

Pretty straightforward to do yourself, you just need to research your garage door motor to figure out where to connect the activation wires (i.e. the ones that trigger the door to open / close).

You also have to run wires to a reed switch (magnet sensor) that detects when the door is closed.

    • I bought just before this deal but was almost the same price. Install is super easy. Connect two wires depending on your garage motor and a sensor to know of it's open or closed. Super easy.

    • I had the same question, took me about 10 minutes to install.

Lookup garage motor > download manual > see the connections > connect.

      Pretty easy.

  • I guess i should monitor so you know the door is currently open/closed?

    • Yes you can set notifications

I really wanted garage opener to be wired (ethernet) but not WiFi connected.
So my dream was to use one of these RPi I purchased before (still collecting the dust) and make something.
Yes, it is going to be more expensive after all. :|

The price a few weeks ago was for the AU version, this is the US verison. Does that affect how you might power the device?

    • +1

It uses USB A, so should be fine.

    • This was also for the AU version, but price has since changed

Anyone had any experience integrating this with HomeAssistant

I am getting $44.26 for Homekit and AU $31.39 for non Homekit. Do I need to apply any code?

    • Same. Ozbargained?

  • For those who want something slightly cheaper and don’t need HomeKit, get the wofea equilavent ones that you can get on AliExpress at a fraction of the cost. I use them, works exactly the same and is fantastic.

  • I bought this from Amazon.com.au for my Gliderol Glidermatic GTS.
It works great. Easy to setup. Their support team (via email) are super quick to respond to you with any questions.
    Can highly recommend.

Got this couple years ago (HomeKit version), easy to install and works great.

If you have CarPlay, then there's a button on the screen as you're close to home that you can use to open the door (as I find it to be faster than asking Siri to do so).

Apple Home notification whenever it opens or closes.

    • Do you have location set to “always on” which is how apple carplay knows you’re approaching home?

      • I'm not sure, I didn't configure any setting so whatever is default.

      • When using CarPlay apple Maps always shows your current location. So it uses that information, I guess if you tell Maps it's not allowed to use location data then it wouldn't work. But that kind of seems pointless for in car navigation. It's all done via built in OS software, so there is no app to grant permissions to. It just uses homekit/apple maps/car play.

  • my one keeps becoming "unavaliable" Does anyone else have this issue?

    • If you are using HomeKit, you probably need to go to the Meross App to adjust the timeout setting as I believe it defaults to 30s, which in many cases is shorter than the time it takes to open/close the door. I changed it and it worked like a charm.

      • Hi, please advise where can I find timeout setting, I can't seem to find this in Meross App, TIA.

        • If you click into the device, you'll be in the settings menu, scroll down to advanced settings and there is Opening Time, which defaults to 15s. I changed it to 25s in my case. It is essentially a timeout parameter.

  • anyone who ordered had it arrive yet?
Bugger! Just realised sent it to my old house. Looks like that one is lost right?

    • You can try visit the place and ask for it if you know its been delivered

  • Anyone installed it on roller door? Where do you place the sensors?
