There was a similar deal recently when Tomtop sold a set like this for $16.55, now you can get one on eBay for $15.99 with free shipping.

I better put the warning from the other deal in the description here as well:

Would I use it? No tbh. But it might be a good joke gift if you're invited somewhere.

What you get:
1 * Bandage

1 * Ink
10 * Grommet
1RL / 3RL / 5RL / 7RL / 9RL each 5pcs

OKAY WHO WANTS A SMILEY FACE.
John you have had too much to drink.
    PARTAAAY! WOOOO FREE TATS.

    • +1

Maybe it should be sold together with one of these time lock safes. Then it can be locked away for 12h or so before one starts drinking.

      • Nah, it should be sold with a couple litres of spirits!

        • +4

Lol it just shouldn't be sold

          • +4

@BatmanAU: Quite a sophisticated grasp of politics there. I'm sure whatever business you're running'll thrive in whatever economic climate you find yourself in with you on the books

          • +5

@BatmanAU: Penny Wong is from Malaysia not China you imbecile.

          • +1

@BatmanAU: You're as smart as those idiots that used to chant "reds under the bed".

          • +1

            @BatmanAU:

            once Wong taxes everything

Highest taxing, highest deficit Govt ever has just been kicked out. But I suspose tax is the only way to pay off the $1,000,000,000,000 debt & deficit racked up by our superior economic managers I suppose they could whack up a GoFumdMe page, it'll only take $40,000.each for everyone in the country to pay it off.

            and moves china in

Well they probably run it better & more honestly then the previous mob.

      • Thanks batkid, I’ll diy myself though…

      • I've got it all picked out when you're ready:

Hi Rep, how does yours differ to this one that's cheaper? $15.10 del.

This doesn't appear to be a bargain & just using Ozbargain for free advertising.

    • +1

It's been 4hrs & no reply so will neg to let members know this isn't a bargain, cheaper elsewhere.

        • Pretty certain it is, not massively common, I may be wrong.

          • @seamonkey: It is so uncommon it's considered not sexually transmissible.

            • +3

@0jay: I'll believe you and that's the first time I've ever believed anyone with your name.

It puts the lotion on the practice skin or it gets the hose again

    • Haha, was looking for this 😁

  • One of the guys at work doesn't care what he gets. Doesn't value his skin. That's his choice no probs there but i just can't get my head around it. If you're going to get one done, pay for a first class job (and preferably get a tattoo that has special significance to you that you won't tire of)

    • Probably should've ended it at

That's his choice no probs there

      • +1

I'm just saying get it done the way you want it done, not the way you can afford right now. Save some more money and spend more time on the design, totally worth it

  • +2

    Ozbargain is strange sometimes

    Free newspapers: no no nope!!!!!!!

Crappy Tatts with health warning: hell yas!!!!

    • A must have at parties with a lot of alcohol.

  • +1

Would I use it? No tbh. But it might be a good joke gift if you're invited somewhere.

DIY tattoo kits can lead to serious health issues such as skin infections, blood poisoning and scarring.

I don't like adding to landfill by buying "joke" gifts, and I value people's health enough to not kill or scar them.

    • -3

You're a saint. And you want everyone to know it. Even if it's not actually true.

      • +2

They're saying they don't like buying stuff with thy intention of it going to landfill, and they don't want to buy something that harms people. Seems fairly legit to me?

        • -3

It's virtue signalling. Like saying I'm against littering, or in favour of fluffy animals. Does ANY normal person like buying stuff for landfill, or want to harm someone?

          • @Wardaddy: Whats wrong with that though?
Perhaps it makes him feel good to say it. People are allowed to feel good; I dont see the harm his comment poses to need to object to it.

  • +3

Are these even allowed to be shipped anywhere in Australia via Aus Post? I thought it’s part of banned items

  • Fun fact - black tattoo inks contain polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs)

    https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/20545755/#:~:text=Black%20ta….

Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are a class of widespread environmental carcinogens. Inhalation of PAHs is what increases your risk of lung cancer from smoking. If you choose to be tattooed you are relying on (hoping) the ink staying in the dermis and not travelling to lymph nodes.

    • +3

People paying $16 for a DIY tattoo kit probably don't care too much about their body.

    • But black ink from a bic pen is fine?

      • Most ballpoints are waterbased; so the odds of hydrocarbons would be low.

  • Hi, is there a min age for this?
thinking a good gift for a 16 year old? can you get removable ink?

  • +3

Pretty sure this is illegal to advertise.

This shouldn't be posted on ozbargain that's for sure.

    • Dick Smiths sell tattoo kits

      • +1

Either this is the shit that is making the push to regulate the tattoo industry (IE. The banning of coloured tattoo inks in Europe, due to these shitty kits off AliExpress).

      • I believe he calls them "Dick Pics".

    • Why?

If people are stupid enough to go for it then who are you to deny them a valuable life lesson?

    • Let Darwin do his work.

      • In case you haven't noticed, stupid people breed the most

  • Buy 2 and get a free circumcision kit!

  • Prison cell optional?

  • +2

    LOL

  • It comes with gloves. It must be safe.

  • Oh no.

  • I'm waiting for the DIY root canal kit.

  • Why has no one mentioned the practice skin?

  • This is way cheaper than the Mehndi set my kinds were asking for! Thanks OP!

  • Buy one of these kits and you've bought yourself a job. Just head down to Byron Bay

  • Where on earth are the mods? This was reported 3 hours ago.

    • 13 hours now.

      • Same product linked in OP was not closed. Why is this one different?

        • -1

          Rejected report of mine.

This is disgraceful of the mods to keep this shit up here.

      • -1

Finally they rejected the report. I completely don't agree with this decision, but at least they finally actually acted on the report.

Wonder if Ozbargain would be at any legal risk if someone buys this and hurts themselves and the mods didn't take it down?

        • Not sure of elsewhere, but a quick search turned this up re: Victoria..

Current Victorian legislation states that it is not legal to:

          • tattoo anyone under the age of 18 years in Victoria
          • conduct an unregistered tattoo business where you receive payment in exchange for performing tattoos (if you are not working in a registered tattoo premises)
          • tattoo someone else without using clean and sterile equipment, which can put their health at risk.

So, the kits themselves appear to be legal. I think the chances of OzB getting sued for linking to a legal item by someone hurting themselves is slim to remote to non-existent.

Having said that, there's no legislation for stupidity though. IANAL.

I like how OP seems to be conscious that their product is dubious and suggests a use would be 'as a joke'.

  • Wow… No thanks. This looks like a disaster waiting to happen. Normal tattooing is a hard enough skill with a propper tattoo gun. Manual tattooing with these or with tapping sticks are a whole next level thing. These should not just be sold to anyone. And of the people that do know how to manual tattoo, they are not going to use these.

Negging because this is just basically a negligence case waiting to happen.

  • Exactly.

All the legit suppliers with ink that has been tested for toxicity. The legit suppliers will not sell to anyone without a tattoo licence.

This shit is likely to have shit in it that you really don't want in your body

The fact that it appears legal to sell this in Australia is a joke. Illegal in most other western countries it seems. It should at least require TGA approval for the chemical composition of these inks.

Yet we ban and regulate far less harmful products.
