Looks like a good deal, next cheapest is around $1500 according to SI.

  • Why no good video card?

    • No space?

    • more like design, or lack of!! all ultrabooks i've seen except for a Samsung have integrated graphics, but i'm hoping that's going to change soon!

Why do you need it on an Ultrabook? If you want to game, you're not buying an Ultrabook surely?

        • if it's possible, why not? it's kind of like a 4 wheel drive SUV, you don't always need it in urban areas but comes in handy when you go offroad! and it makes the laptop more appealing to a wider audience, as long as the price isn't crazy compared to other similar ultrabooks
ps also discreet gpus can help encode videos faster!

        • With the price you pay for ultrabooks it would be nice to have a dedicated video card

        • What nafe said, it's not what these computers are about. Discrete graphics gorge themselves on power and add a not insignificant amount of weight - pretty much the antithesis of ultrabooks. If you want something that can game there are thinner and smaller versions of regular laptops that may strike the balance you want, a Vaio SB series or Acer 3830TG may be more up your alley. I don't really suggest these exact models, they're over a year old now and from a time when I was looking for a laptop but that class would be lighter than most laptops and both have decent graphical capabilities.

ps: encoding videos? Not what these are for, at all :P

  • tempting!
