Pioneer DDJ FLX6 4-Channel Controller For Rekordbox & Serato DJ Pro (Black) $749 Delivered @ Mannys / Amazon AU

60

This has come up on the camels as the best price. They may be price matching Mannys. I have put Mannys as the main option as they have free delivery too. I honestly don't know if this is a good deal but it looks to be the best price right now. While the RRP is $1,199, it does seem to retail for $999 regularly. Google is suggesting this is about $220 below the typical price.

With a host of brand-new features, this 4-channel unit makes it easy to hype up the audience, mix songs from totally different genres, and spice up your sets with pro-sounding scratch effects. The controller is a Hardware Unlock device for rekordbox and it unlocks the DJ performance functions in Serato DJ Pro, so you can choose which software application you want to run for free on your laptop, then simply plug in and start DJing.

Awesome, I can finally be like this guy. SUAT.

    • Quick skim:

"Sometimes I’ll think, am I really doing this?"

"I was like right, capitalize now, this is your moment."

      "I don’t see why I can’t – I back myself to do it"

"I’m already getting respect from other DJs, and noticed from top brands"

After that, I'm ready to take on the world!

I am looking to get a setup for my son who has no DJ experience. I have been looking at the DDJ-400 is it worthwhile to pay a bit more and get this one?

Some people on reddit had this debate about a year ago:

      DDJ-400 or DDJ-FLX6?

Depends on his plans. This one would be better for the long term as includes features for future growth

Just bedroom DJing or house parties then stick with the cheaper one

As per Daft's comment, it depends on the plan.

From my own perspective, I learnt on cdjs which read music off my USB. The best part about DJing from USB and not through a laptop connection is the club standard.

These decks do not take USB devices, you must use a program like Serato or REKORDBOX.

Regardless of his direction, any and all decks will be good to learn on, but learning with the ability to use Beat Match and by loading music through a laptop may hinder versatility when things get more serious.

If this is the start of a hobby, it's a great start. These decks come with the main functionality of the larger professional systems but at a smaller footprint.

Get the 400, if they're still keen after a few months then you can decide to upgrade to the 800 or 1000 or to get an all in one in a used RX2 or 3. If they get really serious, go to a Denon Prime 4, XDJ-XZ or start getting him some CDJ3000s and a nexus mixer.

I wouldn't worry about the first one, I screw around on the 400 for fun because it's so small and portable, it'll do 90% of what most DJs will do until they get serious, either through scratching or needing more channels. In which case you'll want the next tier up from either of those entry level ones.
