Mod: From Wikipedia:

Russian Organization for Multimedia and Digital Systems (ROMS, Russian: РОМС), also known as Russian Multimedia and Internet Society is a Russian collective rights management organization. ROMS is a body designated by Russian law for collecting and distributing statutory copyright royalty payments from radio stations and Internet download sites in Russia.[1] It is disputed whether they are authorized by law to allow music for download[2] This is currently pending in the Russian legal system.[3]

Final decree about legality of using Soundike.com services should be made by the consumer of such services.[8]

Just so everyone knows, this is an illegal music downloading site, your just paying for a user interface as all these songs are pirated and none of your money is going to the artist. Just thought I'd let everyone know so they can make their own decision.

If you don't believe me I think its fairly obvious in the 'legal notice'

"A difference in Laws, concerning copyright material, in different jurisdictions, does not allow administration of the web site Soundike.com, to say that all of the services which this web site provides are completely legal in all the Countries. Final decree about legality of using Soundike.com services should be made by the consumer of such services."

There are heaps of sites like this offering songs for less than 1/10th of the price of legal sources and they are all run by Russian pirates, as the laws over there don't hassle them.

    • so everything they say here is basically untrue? http://www.soundike.com/help.html#top6

    • so would it be appropriate to report this as illegal due to "A difference in Laws" :D

      • Yes this maybe the case, i remember allofmp3.com a few years back and it was determined to be legal to download if you were in Russia, but illegal if you are in the USA or Australia for example.

Allofmp3.com was causing a lot of political tensions between USA and Russia in 2006, this soundike alternative from Russia is not a surprise at all.

    Arrgh! Pirates!

    • Oh-no! The Flying Spaghetti Monster will not be pleased that you negged this deal just because it's run by pirates [the original pastafarians] - expect to be smote by his noodly appendage sometime in the near future :)
