Got this for $10 from Kmart. Clumsy and tacky. One screw came off. Hard to screw back in.

    • +2

Are you sure it is an identical product? I'm keen, but not if it's flimsy. I saw a vid on one such item's listing on Amazon last month and while a little wobbly, it seems stable once all positioned correctly. If this is your Kmart purchase, I would say they've knocked off the design but replaced permanently fastened points with screws that can fall out. https://www.kmart.com.au/product/aluminium-portable-laptop-s…

This Amazon item appears to be more permanently connected and better engineered.

      • I have the Amazon one (not sure if it's this exact one…). It's also got screws, except with little grippy stickers over the top of them.

It's pretty crap, but does the job. As you say, a little wobbly, but stable enough one you set it up.

      • +2

If it fails ensure to send it back through amazon and make seller responsible for selling dodgy product

        • Well I gots me one, so we'll see whether it's any good on Thursday I suppose! :D Only got a Zephyrus G14 to slap on it, so shouldn't be too wide or heavy for it.

    • +1

got this off ebay for the same price, no discount applied a couple of months ago, it was ok but barely worth more than $9

    • +1

Well mine arrived and it does indeed have screws. Bit of misleading imagery there, but whatever. It's ok.

Just a shame my G14's dimensions have the very back edge of the base pieces hitting the laptop lid when I open it. Hard to describe. Might have to pad out the bottom so the back of the laptop ends up further back and clear of the metal base.

  • Got this. Very solid, pure aluminium and will massively help with airflow and ergonomics.

    • +1

I have a similarly designed one (exactly the same mechanically but different looking metal or something) and I also really like it. Recommend.

Picked this up a while ago, found it immensely helpful to raise the laptop screen height up to the same level as my primary monitor.

    • Yup, makes such a massive difference in usability.

Just left feedback on amazon this morning from last sale 15 march then seen this $2 cheaper its well made but overstated the laptop hold size i have a 17 inch laptop and it is to unstable and doesn't fit right so i suggest 15.6 is about the limit .

        That makes sense now…

  • Was just looking for one of these last night to help with WFH. Thanks!

Hi Rep, how does yours differ to what you can buy @Kmart for $9.00?

    • +15

      1 x Great gift box

      • +6

I'm a tradesman so give me screws on a cheap item like this over rivets. Also would prefer to buy from Kmart for easy warranty claims.

Let's not forget this is Ozbargain & Kmart is cheaper which is why I've asked the rep to explain the difference in order for it to be posted on the most popular bargain site in Australia.

        • difference: Kmart not in stock, it's also not an identical item, you can see the hinges are in different positions, so without actually testing the product, you wouldnt really know which one performs better.

          • @hamroll: S go for the one in a store you can inspect.

            • +1

@Nalar: i was replying to Watchnerd about his question and how it would be almost impossible for OP to substiantiate the differences between Kmart and their product

  • +1

    Thanks OP. Bought 2.

  • I bought this one from Kmart as the aluminium one was out of stock.

    https://www.kmart.com.au/product/adjustable-laptop-stand-428…?

It's mostly plastic but still seems to do the job well, I wonder if this aluminium one is better?

  • +1

Got this. It does the job but I found the sticker pads came off pretty soon after I started using it.

  • Does the price include delivery? It charges me an extra $6 for delivery.

    • As per the title: Delivery ($0 with Prime/ $39 Spend)

If you sub to prime, it's free delivery. If not, spend $39 for free shipping.

I've bought maybe 10 units like this, all from different providers, all roughly the same price and seemingly identical when they arrive. I think it's like most of this kind of generic cheap stuff - made in a giant factory and then stamped out with different company logos on it to create the illusion of competition and choice.

Last batch I got were the iVoler ones: https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B07WBYCTNX/ref=ppx_yo_d…

For what it's worth, my colleagues that I bought them for all love them (in fact I just got asked to buy another one this morning so this is good timing). I wouldn't want to put any really expensive kit on it, but they seem generally fine. Going to order a couple of these to see how they compare.

    • Asked for an invoice and it doesn't have GST included or any of the usual details I'd expect on an invoice from an Amazon reseller (not even my full name). I don't buy a lot of stuff from Amazon; is this usual?

  • +2

This one from Soundance is better, keyboard doesn't sit on such an angle - it was on sale here recently for $19.99
    https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B07X3GTRMH/ref=ppx_yo_d…

    • That does look good and for $20 I would definitely get one. FWIW the users in my org only use the stand to set up the laptops as a 2nd screen & use a separate keyboard, so keyboard angle is not an issue.

  • Price gone up ?

    • You have to enter the coupon code

  • These are amazing, I have two of these, one for the upstairs office and other for the downstairs office. Really good.

  • Can't add item to cart? Is it sold out?

  • Anyone know where I could get a very basic laptop tray to put on my lap in bed? Years ago these were easy to find but I've looked and looked, can't see them anywhere…..

  • come on guys, I missed out again.

  • Bought and cancelled.

I would rather have something that raises the laptop keyboard while providing support for hands as well so an external keyboard is not required.

Not sure if my use case can ever be implemented though

    • Unlikely, especially at this price.

    • Aluminium vs Plastic?

  • +1

First time I bought one of these was for $11.39.

Has been very useful for use with a 15.6" XP-Pen drawing tablet.

Got the second one from this deal for $9.49 delivered today. Just tried it with my 1.2kg 16" laptop and is sturdy enough. Is very light and portable, just a bit fiddly the first time getting used to placing the little height adjustment arms at back solidly into their corresponding holes, but once you've done that is more than adequate for my laptop.

No complaints for the price :-).
