Pioneer Computers Australia Dreambook 7" tablet internet device & ebook reader

Please also give attention to item description as an honest seller on ebay we dont want you to except this is an Ipad

If you like to purchase one please click on make an offer button and enter $35 with a note saying "ozbargain"

GENERAL UPDATE:
According to comments on this listing We still believe its a great offer for ozbargain users , yes we know that its not fast as latest ones or an ipad of course, technology moved and our expectations are really high as well but please where can you get a photo frame with music player or a digital clock 7" or a calculator, Whats the cheapest price for Kindle? $35 you can use it as Kindle and on the side you can defiantly use it for other basic things as mentioned.

If we were advertised this from over $100 yes you right you can find much better ones when you pay quite a bit more but at this price its not a beatable offer or as promised we will beat any offer if you can find it cheaper.

Im glad that we are able to make any comment on this website regarding this item and thanking everyone who made comment negative or positive, in that case we understand what we are getting at this price and also please guys we are not BIG W and we will make sure look after our customers who made purchase from Has Clearance. As you can see from our feedback on ebay our customer service is great and we are still trying our best to provide better service also it has been proven by over 10.000 individual online shoppers by leaving positive feedback

Please read item description, FAQ provided by manufacturer, watch the video on listing and after you receive this product if its different than what you have paid for we will make a full refund in 7 Days when you return it back.

Thanks again for everyone who made a comment and purchased this unit

    • Hi There, They are not returns as stated in description they are all new in box also comes with manufacturers warranty.

      • +2

Umm - that may be true, but BigW said the same thing & people found some of those were returns. Not saying anything against this supplier, its just people here have been burnt by this product before.

        • +1

I understand what you mean but as per listing we sell them as all new in box , we got them all in brand new condition and sealed by manufacturer. And also they promised to provide 6 months warranty on these units , Thanks

      • can you do $10, thats about how much they worth, ill get 1 for ereader

        • +17

Well if you can find any ereader for that price with free postage i will defiantly beat that price , promise is promise

        • +1

I gave up on that idea - the PDF reader doesn't keep your page nor your page orientation after standby.

        • +1

I doubt to find ereader toy for $10

      • Why would there be a 'remembered' Wireless Access point called "Krystal" saved on it then?

Edit: just got mine today 17/5/2012, and before I added my wireless network "Krystal" came up as 'Remembered'

        • good question

Because in the past it has been connected to a WAP with that name.

If others have the same name remembered, must have beeen in the factory?

what can we do with this?

    • +3

      can check your hotmail.

      Web browsing
      Youtube
      Low resolution videos
      Digital Photo frame.
      Ebook / newspaper / e-zine reader.

That's all I can think of. With a 533mhz CPU this tablet isn't exactly capable of gaming or media.

      • I am afraid Youtube and Facebook is not avilable….

        http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/261015470909?_trksid=p3984.m1559.…

        It states:

        4) If YouTube is not working, how can it be updated?
From time to time YouTube changes the software used. At this point in time Android 2.1 or Previous versions on this device does not support youtube application .

        5) I can’t log in using the Facebook App.
Facebook have recently changed the coding for their application. You can still access Facebook via the web address.

    • +3

I didn't realise they still sold paperweights in a 'paperless' society.

  • Can we update the OS?

    • -1

Currently anroid 2.1 is available at pioneercomputers , over that i dont think this device will support :(

      • +14

That is a misrepresentation according to previous complaints on OB & Whirlpool!!!

It is Android 1.6! Good luck running anything much on that.
Pioneer's version number of the Android system is just called 2.1.
CotD got caught out on that.

"THis is not Anroid 2.1 ,its comintg with Anroind 1.6 and Software version Anroid 2.1 of Pioneer

I had a fight with Pioneer support team about this and they still argue that Anroid 2.1 softare and Anroid software is diiferent

This tablet is coming only with Anroid 1.6 and can't be upgraded also no flsh support and their youtube software is not working"

The Gizmodo link spawnpoint provided gives a bit of background for anyone (rightly) confused by this! ;)

        • +3

From Gizmodo link "Pioneer Computers has gone and customised Android for their ePad 7 tablet"
Yes, its an unofficial Android version, "which kind of adds to the feelings of doubt about the OS’s legitimacy."
          http://www.gizmodo.com.au/2010/08/pioneer-computers-epad-7-r…

  • +20

Pioneer Computers is not the same as Pioneer, just in case anyone was wondering.

    • Thanks for clearing that up.. I am a huge fan of Pioneer and was getting disappointed with all this negativity.. I was thinking, 'hey its Pioneer, lets just buy it anyways'… Now i wont touch it like jar jar's poo..

    • Same goes for "Hyundai" tablets, and probably plenty more.

    • I think that's a copyright breach right there.. Just like the time Microsoft sued a guy for his domain mikerowsoft.com

No idea what these are like. I'm kinda tempted to get one for my niece but I don't want her to hate me if it turns out to be not good.

    • +12

Don't even think about it, not even for free.

I bought one of these totally useless POS and immediately sent it back.

If you've got money burning a hole in your pocket best to just give her a gift voucher.

Buying this will simply make you known as Silly Uncle Bargainjargon.

      • +5

At the moment, she thinks I'm the cool uncle with all the cool gadgets. I gotta maintain that reputation :P

  • do you guy have an abn?

    • +4

Definatly we do , We are a registered business and dealing on ebay very long time our Abn Number is 18 132 962 540 , Tac-Kan import export pty. ltd. trading as restart trade center and has baby

Its products like this that give android a bad name…

    • +12

Yes its not the best Android tablet Pc but because of old computers windows dosent get a bad name , we have tried to explain everything we could find about this unit online , we saw bad reviews as well as good revies for the price too, not everyone can afford those fastest tablets or ipads…

      • +4

Sorry, I can see how that may have been taken as a rude comment about your product. I apologize if that was the case.

I know not everyone can afford the smoother/lag free devices that android is on right now, but I feel it would really be money wasted.

If I purchased an imitation Rolex that breaks within 3 months of purchase, I have still wasted my money regardless of how much I saved not buying a better product.

      • +9

No you have done your best to mislead customers. Advertising an Android 1.6 tablet as Android 2.1 is false advertising. No one cares about an internal firmware version number, have you ever seen a reputed phone or tablet manufacturer advertising their internal firmware version number as an Android version number ? 1.6 is an out dated version, nothing useful works on it, no flash, no YouTube and more than half of the apps wouldn't even install. Even very basic details like screen resolution and touch screen type (capacitive or resistive) are missing in your product description. You call this trying to explain everything you could??

      • +2

Yes its not the best Android tablet

A more accurate description would be, "It's one of the worst android tablets."

    • +12

      as bon jovi would say

Shot through the heart and you're to blame
You give ANDROID a bad name
      (Bad name)
I play my part and you play your game
You give ANDROID a bad name
      (Bad name)
Hey, you give ANDROIIIIIID a bad name

Read the fine print / FAQ carefully, 7 days warranty???

    Is that legal?

Highest android is 2.1, maximum, higher not available.

    How about $12 delivered?

    thank you

P.S …. ya gotta read the fine print

    • +7

Hi There , 7 Days warranty for our used and tested units please read it carefully , as stated on description this item comes with 6months manufacturers warranty.

      • Bells ringing here with Consumer Guarantee under Australian Consumer Law (although it's only $35, lol).

    • YA gotta read the fine print CAREFULLY!

  • Looks almost like the kogan tab to me

    • +3

This is not the one listed here , thats a used one which Is the one we have open and take pictures , please click on the picture at the top of this page to get new ones, Thanks

  • Haha, 2 more units sold to ozbargainers in the last few minutes. I wonder if they will throw them in the bin after after 1 week of ownership ?

  • +1

At least it's cheaper than some photo frames so you you might be able to use it as that if all else fails. Still, I dunno if I'll get one.

    • +3

got to admit i was thinking this same thing - at least this has wifi - so in theory it's going to always have updated photos without pluggin it in. tempted.

      • I didn't mean to neg the comment…small phone screen :(

        • (That is a real problem with small screens & big fingers!)

        • +3

I didn't mean to neg the comment…small phone screen :(
(That is a real problem with small screens & big fingers!)

Hmm, might not have happened if you guys had a Pioneer Dreambook! :p

        • +3

LOL You haven't seen the size of my fingers!
(If you know what I mean)
Even with a 7" Capacitive screen can still be an issue.
But isn't this is a resistive screen.

I accidentally negged a great post because my 10" Android tablet had difficulty telling my finger was a few mm to the left of the neg box. Capacitive screens are not so good for precision screen location using a fat finger.

        • +6

LOL, you might need to get a new stylus from the butcher, Bruce…the product code is 'sausage'! ;)

        • +3

Bruce, you are using your "Finger" right ;)

        • +2

to order a special dialing wand, mash the keypad with your palm now

    • if all else fails including you couldn't even turn it on?

  • Rep..if I want to pickup how much will it cost? Wouldn't mind picking one up for my grandma to view photos..but I need to get it by tomorrow as she's flying off Friday morning.

Also…why not have a 'make offer' instead of having us actually purchase the item at $49 and requesting for a discount…wouldn't you hve the power to still charge us $49 anyways?

    • yeah I'm reluctant to do the $49 on a promise of a revised total - ebay history shows others have paid $49? anyone actually bought one and had the price reduced yet?

    • +11

Maestrok thanks for the great idea of "make an offer" i will shortly update the information on ozbargain to do exactly that.

you can pick up from our warehouse for only $30.

Our warehouse is located at 8b steele court mentone.
we are open from 10-4 monday to friday and 9-1 on saturday.

when you come in just mention you have come from ozbargain to get that discount.

      • -1

        Hey has.clearance,

As a long term ozBargainer, its in our nature to make an offer. Now.. having bought a Zenethink ePad about a year ago, I can safely say it was not worth the $65 I paid for it. That was a 10' tablet, and had a 800mhZ ARM processor, and yet the dreambook, with a lower build quality, cheaper/lower clock speed CPU and half the RAM is sellng, a year later, for $49. I am more than happy to hand over $25-30 shipped if you are kind enough to give us OzBargainers the pleasure of a good service!

How about it guys? $25 shipped? I think that's pretty fair :)

        • +4

Thanks a lot for your offer but this is the lowest we can go for ozbargains imwish we couldmdo better but due to warehousing, ebay, paypal and postage costs we are unable to do anything better. Thanks for your honest comment

        • -8

it may be YOUR nature, NOT OURS.

  • has anyone got mame working on android? might be good for a nano arcade cab…

  • +8

nothing personal but this tablet is not even worth of 35 cents. Bought 1 from BigW 1 year ago and returned it the next day. I was lucky BigW has good return policy.

  • +7

I'm '+'ing this deal. It's $35 shipped [edit $30 pickup], and the OP's knocked off $15 for OzB'ers. Fair enough, caveat emptor on the device itself, but pound for pound the deal is solid IMHO! ;)

  • +3

piece of crap at any price. its not worth a cent and would stay away from it even if it was free. I bought one months back and had to chuck it into the bin. Stay AWAY!!!

    • +4

      "Chuck it in the bin"
Why? If it was faulty why didn't you just take it back?

  • +5

I bought from big w online
    Worst piece of technology
I could not even connect to the wifi
The touch interface is extremely irritating
I tried to return to big w even they didn't want it back
I think even receiving this for free is a Liability

    • +6

We are not BIG W and if any of our items are not matching its description or arrived faulty we are happy to replace or make a full refund in 7 days after you received your item , after 7 days you still have manufacturers warranty from pioneer computers australia, because ofBig W i dont beilive we should get neg on this listing but thanks anyway

      • But return to BigW was much easier/free.

  • +7

    Rule number 101 of bargains:

"its not a bargain unless you wanted it in the first place"

Was anybody contemplating buying this BEFORE they saw it was $35?
The virtual unanimous opinion of Whirppool is that this is a frustrating piece of worthless junk.

    • What the hell are you tripping on? Every 'real' bargain hunter knows what its like to have seen something they didnt want or know about beforehand, but bought it anyway on impulse because its a 'bargain'!!… ffs..

      • Bargain hunter vs impulse purchaser = different beast.
You just bought yours self $35 of nothing…

Result: wallet is $35 lighter, advantage none.

  • +3

As above, I bought one on the second or third bargain post, and had to return it because it just stopped working after the first use. They are complete rubbish even if they work.

  • would this be an ok ebook reader?

    • +1

Yes we have tested one with Amazon Kindle and it works very well, Also it does support other ebooks, Thanks

    • I have one, bought as a book reader, gathering dust. The book reading apps didn't seem to work at first. Then they started working for no apparent reason. It was still rather frustrating to use due to the horrible touch screen, and it was still rather buggy (kept on complaining about the SD Card being unexpectedly removed whenever it went into power save). The main issue IIRC that the touch screen had difficulty telling the difference between a tap and a swipe.
