review on whirlpool are shocking. will not go for this. probably just good for kids. cheers

  • Pioneer wasn't a pioneer with this tablet. Outdated and outclassed on release. Still, 57 bucks for Little Johnny's first ''iPad"…
I'd be a bit inclined to take a chance on a ChinaCheapie with slightly better specs for not a lot more. That clock speed is woeful. Probably wouldn't arrive before Christmas however…

Hope you realize that this Pioneer is NOT the music system manuf. !!

well, unlike the Telstra T-Touch and Optus MyTab has USB port so can probly play divx files off a usb stick.
Should have the power to run a Slingbox app and streaming TV apps.

    • I have both. You can get a USB dongle working with the T-touch. Between the two. Originally I preferred the Optustab. Feels lighter. However now I prefer the T-touch. It runs Flash etc with the 800Mhz processor.

      • adm have both your tabs would not mind info on flash and usb stick ta

  • Isn't delivery free?

  • Definitely a bargain at that price

Will it get to me before christmas?
NOTE: ORDERS PLACED TODAY FOR THIS PRODUCT WILL NOT SHIP BEFORE FRI 16/12

Don't do it, you will not enjoy this device…..

My neighbour bought one off COTD and gave it to me to play with for a week. It's truly dire, even with the official Pioneer Comp "2.1" update and a couple of alternate ROMS I tried. Performance is awful, very slow, almost unusable in my view. Battery life was about 3 hrs, it seemed like the wifi module was the main culprit and the back of the device got quite warm after a few minutes. Games like Angry Birds were unplayable such was the speed etc. My neighbour hated it as well, hence the weeks loan. She really wanted it as as eBook reader and even then is was marginal but did work. It died a few weeks ago and COTD gave a full refund rather than repair.

Intrigued though, I did buy an Optus My Tab for $100 and that's an order of magnitude better in all aspects to the extent that I bought another one for my parents as well. It's a shame the My Tab is no longer available, other than on eBay, as this really was worth the money and I use it daily.

  • use it only as a alternative to kindle

You get what you pay for.

You get what you pay for.

In this case yes, but that general rule does not work for phones and tablets.
The $99 mytab was great value.

  • Good tablet at a very good price!
ordered 2 as christmas gift :)

  • Definitely free delivery as I just got one.

    Thanks!

  • Got one, perfect for a kid, yes free delivery.

  • Even current gen china tabs are better than this with faster cpu, battery life & capacitive screen at only $10-20 more. Some of the better ones even have 5 or 10 point capac. touch.

  • As it is now Free Delivery & BigW has change of mind policy, maybe worth a try.
(Seems "change of mind" should get better response than "faulty".)
"If you have changed your mind, as long as:
    *You have clear proof of purchase, typically a receipt;
    *The product and packaging is in its original condition including manuals and accessories;
    *Item is in re-saleable condition for example original tags and labels are still attached, unworn, unopened or unused and;
*The product is not on the Product Exclusion List - (not)
BIG W will provide you with a refund in the form of the previous method of payment, or a BIG W Returns Card – at your option."

  • SOLD OUT!

  • yeah SOLD OUT :(

  • Pendo Pad lol, looks exectly the same, I have the pendo pad and its not very good, wish I could update it to android 2.3.
This was a great buy for a kids toy.

  • It's not worth the hassle even if it was free. Worse purchase ever.

  • The VIA WM8505 is the worst chipset you could ever use available on a chinatab. Even the step up WM8650 is pretty shocking. Honestly if you're gonna buy one of these chinese tablets get atleast one with a Cortex A8/A9 cpu, most of the ones availabe excluding the Freescale imx515 give pretty decent performance.

  • Out of stock

  • Seems cheap as a tablet just for young kids, but otherwise not usable. The Optus My Tab with CM7 is a much better tablet and isn't that much more expensive… Though I won't neg this because of the price.

  • I would have purchased this just as a static media player to leave plugged in to my amp and listen to Web Radio.

Would have been good shame I was out =(

    • +1

Quite a few media players can do this but perhaps you could use a phone like the Huawei u8150 - currently $59 from DSE or $50 at Aldi if they still have any stock left? It's locked to Virgin (unlock codes are circa $15) but that's a non-issue I believe if you just want to use it at home over WiFi - certainly our Android phones work fine over wifi, even without a SIM in.

A good android app for streaming radio is Tunein / Tunein Pro - I use it quite a bit for overseas radio stations and F1.

      FF

Ps - if you go to the whirlpool forums there's heaps of info about this phone…..

  • I bought 2 of these from COTD a year ago. They're pretty hopeless as tablets, but good enough as book readers. There are a could of roms which make it reasonably useful. I have 2, one still in its original box. Make me an offer if you're keen for one :-)

    • why do u buy things in pairs?

      • +1

why do u buy things in pairs?

Because one can never buy a toy without their partner wanting to play with it. There's nothing worse than having to share a new toy.

      • +1

Originally bought it as a gift for my mother. Figured I'd get a 2nd one for remote support purposes (ie, so I could talk her through how to do stuff).

  • I bought one of these back when they were $150, I returned it 3 days later. It's essentially slow, and useless. The touchscreen isn't a real touchscreen and couldn't even use it as an eReader. The battery life isn't as stated, I got 2 hours out of it if I remember right. You'll need to put an SD Card in it to do ANYTHING, updating it was a pain, and theres very little support.

It says "Pioneer Dreambook", but it's not the company Pioneer who make TV and car stereos, it's a dodgy company from Asia.

  • Just received it today from BIG W. Havent tried it out BUT….for others who have bought it… WATCH OUT

    1. Security Seal opened
    2. Scratches on the back plate
    3. Internal packaging looks like its been opened and then put back together
    4. Power cord unwound and shoved back in the packaging
    5. SD card missing
    6. Manual creased up likes it been used

This is total crap. In my case, they're trying to pass off used/returned or refurbished stock. I'll be giving them a call tomorrow!!

    • damn..that sucks..still awaiting mine

      • +1

yep….also actually I don't think it supposed to come with an SD card. Quickly tested it….absolute POS.

  • The deal is still available but without the free postage. So it is now $57 delivered.. I just ordered one, taking the risk despite the issues everyone is having. I'll be happy if it browses the Internet and that's all.
