  2. If you are already on Boost, you CANNOT port your existing number to this sim card.

  3. This is a brand new Boost sim card.

PORTING YOUR OWN EXISTING NUMBER TO BOOST:
You can request porting your own number to Boost when activating the SIM. Before porting number, contact your current service provider to confirm personal details. Make sure your Name and Date of Birth registered with the number are 100% correct including spaces. Ask to update your details if anything is incorrect. Once confirmed, provide the exact same details to Boost to initiate the porting. Some carriers will send you a SMS to authorise the porting request, so make sure the current SIM is inserted until the service is disconnected. Telstra users need to contact Boost first before porting their number.

Boost official website says you must activate by 28/03/22 to get the 140gb bonus data.

    Which one is accurate?

    • @oztechtraders

      Yes please confirm

    • +11

      Hi,
The date has been extended until the 4th of July. After 28th March, the date will be changed on boost website.
      Regards
      Support team

        Thanks OP

      • When does the coupon code end? Is it really 30th April?

  • +1

when is boost going to support 5g and esim?

    • Unlikely to support 5G… Boost is owned by Telstra, but its without top tier speeds.

    • +2

I saw something around a year ago that stated they weren't considering 5G as they didn't see the benefit to the user, but in saying this some users are getting 5G under trial from Boost. I don't know what will come of it, since Telstra owns boost and the equipment, but it certainly looks positive. As far as e-sim it should just be around the corner.

      • +1

The ownership thing always is confusing, that article makes it sound like Adderton owns it… its more a partnership. My bank statements always said Telstra was who I was paying.

    • From my knowledge, mvnos don't get 5g. They need something over them so they don't lose money.

    • Totally agree, I don’t know why esim can’t be offered although Telstra announced MVNO have access from 4th March 2021 according to https://www.whistleout.com.au/MobilePhones/News/Telstra-open…

I moved from boost to telstra last week. The network coverage is less than boost and call dropping frequently sometimes mobile data freeze. I thought it would be better than boost but worse.

    • +4

      Ok Mr Boost

    • +3

Its the same network. Boost is Telstra lite (does not get highest speed tier, but uses all of Telstras towers.) My month to month Boost bills back when even said Telstra.

      • It's not lite. It's the only one with full access

        • +4

Which is why I said Telstra lite, not Telstra Wholesale… Telstra Wholesale being those who sell a narrower coverage area of Telstra.

Wholesale - Full speeds maybe (depends on reseller)… but less towers.
Boost, all towers, but lite on speeds (no top tier speed). Boost used to be 3G at best when 4G was all the rage. Then added LTE and 4G. There is no 5G for Boost.

edit: See the block of posts above this one for an article suggesting 5G might be coming…

Is someone porting from Belong to Boost classed as a new customer? Will there be any issues?

I ask because Belong is a Telstra subsidiary.

    Thanks

    • +1

I believe you'll fall into the contact the provider as stated above. This may help as I have been considering Boost to Telstra and back. This is from Telstras website also and it doesn't mention any differences in the porting process for people on the network trying to switch. I'd say try to message them, so you have it in writing. You will at least have someone to go off if you have issues so you aren't stuck with a dud card

    • +1

@b-radicool, my mate did it this week and it took him 5 mins to port out from belong to boost. I reckon, it is better to do on weekdays to avoid any porting delays.

      • I just message them for a discount. Much easier.

    • I did it last week, no issues. Took 10 mins or so.
Just a reminder, when you do the porting, be advised that Belong Mobile Plan is classed as Post Paid (not Prepaid). You'll find your account number in the monthly invoice.

      • I switched from belong last week and prepaid worked just fine, took 5 mins on a Saturday.

        • Really.. thats good to know..

  • -1

I had a existing 12 month expiry boot sim - can I use this to recharge?

    • Not directly. You’d need to port out and back.

    • Hi,
It's a sim starter kit having a $200 credit on it.
You can not recharge your existing boost number with this unless you port out to another provider and then port in back to Boost.
      Thanks

    • +3

I bought two of these sim cards as an existing Boost customer in Feb and activated them in early March w/o problems. Contact Boost via the app, explain your situation and they will sort it out for you within minutes. Basically the new sim card gets activated and your existing number will be ported over from Boost directly to Boost.

      • +1

I guess you lost whatever was left on your old SIM - data, calls, remaining service days?

        • Yeah. You usually loose the moment you recharge or do the above. So do this only when you plan is about to expire in 2-3 days time just to be safe.

      • So when you contacted Boost via the app were still on the old Boost sim? At what point did you swap to new?

        • Yes, still on the old sim. During the session the CSR told me to insert the new sim and activate. He then did his thing on his end. My session wasn't even interrupted as I was on home wifi.It was the penultimate day of my old plan. Once done I had 366 days and 120GB showing in the app. Painless.

          • @foxpro: I kind of guessed you were using wifi to communicate but I wasn't aware you could swap the sim card while the phone with the app you're using for boost chat is still on.

Of topic, my Boost Sim $200 expired 5 days ago. Has anyone had luck with the customer service showing pity and giving a new $200 Sim? Can't believe the last sim I bought has such short expiry date

  • Telstra $300 Pre-Paid is now OOS

    • Hi
Just have added some more stock.
      Thanks

      • $200 is out of stock. My order was not fulfilled. Will you add more stock please?

        On checkout message as below:
Not enough units of Boost $200 Prepaid Tri Cut sim Starter Pack 365 Days (Get 140GB data if activated before 04-07-2022) are available in stock to fulfil this order.

  • Can this be used for roaming?

    • No.

I think very few pre-paid support roaming.

    • I have roamed internationally with my Boost phone in the past (pre-mid 2020) before they removed that feature. However it should be coming back at last, soon!

"International roaming is not available on your Boost Mobile service.

However, we are planning to launch a new version of international roaming in mid 2022."

      Source: https://boost.com.au/blogs/help-topics/using-your-phone-over…

  • Can I port my number from Telstra post paid to the Telstra Prepaid sim above?

If not, then I assume it’s ok to port my number from Telstra to the Boost sim? It says you cannot be a Boost customer but nothing about being a Telstra customer.

    • Also in the same situation! Am Telstra month to month out of contract at the moment

      • +1

I ported from Telstra to Boost last year. Should be fine.

    • You can but they make it as hard as possible.
The auto signup doesn't give you an option to port from Telstra so you have to call the Indian call centre, wait on hold for hours, then be told it can't be done. Then you speak to someone else who says the same thing, then you demand to speak to a manager who eventually concedes that they can do it but it will take a few days.

This was my experience. If I was doing it again I would port out and back in, that way you can use the automated sign up process of each provider and not have to deal with completely useless, non-english-speaking, call-centre staff.

  • Will OW price match such deals?

  • Only for new customer?

    • I've had luck two years in a row asking chat to allow me to use the credit on an existing boost account.

They activate the sim and then port your existing boost number to the new sim. Recommend doing in business hours, port took 15 mins last week.

  • Pls add more $200 boost, seems out of stock..

    • There is some stock that has been added.
      Thanks

  • The $200 one is out of stock now

      Hi,
The stock has been updated. They are back in stock now.
      Thanks

      • Thanks, ordered one.

  • Does the telstra starter kit include 5G?

    • +1

      Hi,
      Currently it's 4G.
      Thanks

  • Telstra users need to contact Boost first before porting their number. - Why?
Can Boost user port to Telstra with Telstra's $300 Starter pack?

  • Can you use this to recharge the existing Boost number?

  • Have anyone tried from boost port to other provider and port it back in few weeks time…does it coubt as new customer or they will reject ir

    • Ported out (exactly) a week ago to Lebara, still waiting for Boost to complete port out in order to port back in. Lebara customer service just needed one call and the agent stayed on the phone for over 30 mins to see why I can't port out. Boost/ Telstra on the other hand took four online chat agents, three phone calls and a whole bunch of excuses to finally realised that their system is the issue.

Would never consider boost/ Telstra/ aldi if my area allows for good reception with other providers.

  • $200/140GB for $151.60 is no longer in stock

  • When will boost provide International Roaming?

In Sept 2020 they said mid 2021 now the website says Mid 2022.

  • Hi,
We have added some more stock.
    Thanks

    • Added to cart but cannot checkout. Out of stock again

  • I ordered 1 pack $200 & paid by Paypal ($151.60) some minutes ago - when it said 17 stocks left.
But now I found that my money is return back my bank a/c. That means I miss out this deal, can you tell me why, please?
    Thank you.

      Hi,
Can you please send us your order number?
      Thanks

  • Hi
Please looking for 1x$200 Sim. do you have anymore in stock?

    • yes, It is available in stock. Thanks

  • Ordered 2*$200 Sims.
    It showed 50 in stock.

  • Download speeds on Boost have dropped from an average of 35 Mbps to 2.23 Mbps in my area. This is now a much lower tier of Telstra service. The additional data is useless if you can't access it.

  • Can I upgrade my boost sim with this plan? Also Boost for those who are looking for answers on 5G and eSim boost doesn't have either of them.

  • Do you reckon someone thought we were American ………
    Hence the 04 / 07 / 22 Expiry date ……
That's an Awful long time away., months and months.
IMHO Someone goofed and wanted a Quick Turnaround of Early April
Next week, not a whole school term away/

  • Thanks, Ordered one …

  • Does Telstra support eSIM on prepaid? I am currently on Boost but need to free up my sim slot for work purposes.
I am guessing the process is to first order a physical SIM, then port out directly to Telstra prepaid and then request an eSIM (in store or via app??).

Edit: just spoke to Telstra support. No eSIM availble for prepaid (and they seem to think not for the new postpaid Upfront plans either).

$200 boost sim is out of stock, any restock please?

  • Does anyone know how many versions of $300 boost prepaid cards are actually on the market? Last week trying to ask Office work to match up the price to Enjoybuy from OZbargain the lady at office work spent 45 minutes trying to explain the $300 sim at office work is different from other resellers on the market. Even for this deal, the boost website says 280GB data and from this deal, it says it is 260GB data and they are all for $300…

    https://boost.com.au/pages/prepaid-plans

    https://www.oztechbiz.com.au/product/boost-300-prepaid-sim-s…

    https://enjoyebuy.com.au/collections/mobile-phones-sim-cards…

    • Hi,
There is only one $300 Boost sim available in the market. Office work does not price match if the other seller has offered a lower price with a discount code/coupon.
Secondly please read the description on the Boost website or elsewhere so it will make it more clear to eliminate confusion in the future.
Boost website says 280 GB data if activated before 28-03-2022.
But after 28-03-2022 till 04/07/2022 the data offered on the $300 boost sim will be 260GB.
Please visit the Boost website on 29-03-2022 and you will see that the offer has been changed to 260GB if activated before 04/07/2022.
      Hope this information will help.
      Thanks

  • I am still waiting for the message that item has been posted. I have ordered on Sunday night I still haven’t received any message that it’s been dispatched.

    • I'm in the same position. I have not received any correspondence regarding postage. I also ordered Sunday and paid for Express Post shipping. I am expecting it tomorrow or will be requesting a refund. Not sure why they would offer express post as an option and then not post it on Monday.

      • Yeah. Agree. I have paid for express post too. I even email today to the [email protected] to ask about my order but so far no reply.

        • Dear buyer,
We did mention in our item description 4 working days of order processing time. We are not sure if you had a chance to go through that.
All $300 Boost and Telstra sims have been despatched except we had a bit of a delay on $200 Boost sims.
          Thanks
