  • plus tax, surcharges, etc?

  • I did a search for 21st Jan (09) departure, 29th Jan arrival Sydney -> Tokyo. Didn't see the $299 flights (cheapest was low $300) but with check-in luggage and airport tax (maybe without the food addons etc) it was about 500pp. Nice, but not sure if I'm rich enough to go. :)

Edit: Silly me, my brain flipped the two time frames. XD My bad! :D

  • Jetstar (and all other carriers) advertise price including taxes, surchargers, etc in Australia. I found a few flights Melb to Tokyo and all were $338 one-way OR EVEN LESS!

jenkei: as per the website description the flights are Sydney to Tokyo are discounted only for the Travel period1 Feb - 28 Mar 09. However there should be some flights to Osaka for cheap at the time your looking at :)

  • too bad our aussie is very low too.

  • Hmmm their fares seem to be even lower than advertised. Just searched Sydney to Tokyo in March and found a few $81 fares (excl taxes). Including taxes this came to (cut-and-paste):

    Adult $81.00
    Surcharges, Fees and Taxes $167.55
    Airfare per Adult $248.55

Thats $50 less than the advertised $299! Its even better for the return leg:

    Adult $81.00
    Surcharges, Fees and Taxes $143.60
    Airfare per Adult $224.60

However children are a huge premium (Almost 10 times the cost of an adult!):

    Child $81.00
    Surcharges, Fees and Taxes $2,070.00
    Airfare per Child $2,151.00

I called Jetstar about this and they said that the fares were loaded incorrectly and that you'd have to book child fares over the phone.

Anyway I suggest that if you want to book an adult fare be quick before Jetstar up their prices!

  • I got my flights later this month with cheaper fares than this, but not to say that these aren't pretty good prices.
Return airfare for sub-$700? Even if your flight is late, you have to pay $20 coz you're 1kg over your baggage allowance and the flight attendants treat you like shit .. you can't complain for that price.

  • Great Deal !. Just about 1/2 the usual price !

Just purchased tickets for 4 Passengers, First week of Feb, Gold Coast - Tokyo return = $2037 + $40 credit card fee.

  • yipee! my first ever posted deal that appears on front page. front page virgin no longer! :)

  • I bought return tickets for MEL to OSAKA for Feb this year for $666 (incl. taxes). I'm tempted to go again, cause I found the same tickets just for an extra $4.
    It's a great deal!!

    • How was the Jetstar service? I've never flown with them and am planning to head there during January/February!

      • The domestic flights between Melbourne and Cairns were okay. Seats: A little cramped but it's only for a few hours right? ;) The flight attendants, I vaguely remember not liking much. However, on the International flight from Cairns and Osaka - they were really nice, happy and helpful wherever possible! The seating room were a little more bigger, but I bagged myself a 3-4 seater and slept most of the way. ;)

I still recommend them! :) It's cheap, and I have more money to spend on other items like food… Oh how I miss the ramen from Fukuoka near the red light district. Haha, but that's another story. :D

I almost forgot, if you do go with them on an International flight - preorder your food. I got last pick even when I was first up, those who booked before flying had priority so I wasn't left with anything I particularly liked when they came back to me.

        • Thanks for the long reply ohwaif :) Sure has helped me out there! I guess I'll be flying with them soon then and won't forget to book the food too :)

          Cheers.
