No headphone jack.
Only use special battery pack.
Mono speaker (which apparently is rather bad)
:(And the reviews at DS…
"This is a very basic model…
it needs a bespoke battery pack to be portable!
I was offered the battery pack for $15 instead of a refund, and took the deal. In retrospect, it still wasn't worth my $55.
tinny sound
no headphone jack
no sleep function (limited bedroom use).
And it's hardly "palm-sized" - more the size of a big man's hand.""There are two drawbacks though.
First… not portable unless you want to fork out another $40+ on the battery pack.
The second - and more significant - is the very ordinary sound quality.
It's tinny and almost painful to listen to it. That's why it's in my kitchen - to deter the would-be burglars who have stayed away from the radio."So mains powered non-portable portable radio, with no audio connections, tinny speaker, …
Seems of little use. Pass!I'm glad to see that no one has neg'ed the actual bargain post, because…technically it's a good bargain at 50% off…just a pity the product isn't any good :(
must be time for me to upload links for the BETA cassettes I've seen then
But are they 50% off?? I'll buy!
Its a problem when a deal may be 'technically' good in terms of money saved, on a product bordering on the 'technically' bad!
If it is as bad to listen to as stated in the reviews - is a deal on something you do not want to use a good deal at any price??
Since you need to pay a lot extra to make this portable radio portable, the price advantage fades.
Some reviewers on DS seemed to regret the purchase, so they wasted their money (at same price - 50% off), which by definition is not a good deal.
Will make a great gift to the Mother-in-law!
Th Aldi one which was on a while back was a lot better
So many of those $30 radios were returned as faulty/DOA straight out of the box!
Sound & volume were marginal, often turned itself off for no reason or failed to work with batteries, auto tuning button was too easy to press - wiping all the presets, Chinglish manual had mistakes regarding setting up presets, and there were more issues.
I looked up this one as an alternative to the Aldi one!
If this is worse that that Aldi - oh boy!

I'm tempted for $40, but no headphone jack (WTF?) and extra charge for a battery pack is a turn off.
