I have no idea if these are any good, but for 5 bucks it seems like a steal.

  • I'll bite, will be handy if it works well enough

  • for basics, any speedo is pretty much fine. once you get into it and you want to know everything, buy a garmin

    • so what other features are handy? i thought speed and distance would be the main use for a bike computer.

      • Yes, for a beginner on the flat. (My bike is lurking in the corner unused, so I am not the best to answer this & I used a $10 one!!) But GPS equipped (a little more than this price!!) can give handy details like vertical distance travelled, map, log speed/distance between points, energy burnt, heart rate, & so many other details. eg https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?cID=160&pID=69043

It depends on your reason to ride. At this price, grab one & enjoy the ride.

Mind you, a smart phone can log many of those details - including speed & distance!

    • Ah mattgal - its the same unit, good details & photos, but cheaper - Champion!
Why would anyone neg your handy tip, unless there is a problem with the supplier - in which case tell us! (So many people already hate SS, but I've never had a problem.)

    • Awesome find on an already tempting deal.
      You've sold me.
      + 1

  • Just a word of caution. I bought an identical-looking unit from DealExtreme and the build quality on mine was fairly poor. Specifically, the display stopped working properly and would only show partial digits unless I placed pressure on the screen.

  • Mine worked for a while as did a brand name one which I returned for a replacement that I have yet to fit. I think the weakness is the magnet spinning on the spoke passed the sensor. All too much effort!

    • Yes. Wireless is less hassles, but another battery to replace.
Have you tried using the GPS on a smart phone? Just need a mount for it.
There are also bicycle speedometer apps, athough I haven't tried them.
