  • Oh man, excellent deal. Wish this was available when I was looking - bought the X85J a month ago from them for a similar price

  • How do you get this deal? You have to have the order payment as afterpay to use the afterpay code, and it has to be less than $2000 to switch to afterpay?

  • I think for the people not having afterpay, you can ask in good guys stores and they may honour it. It worked for me here in Melbourne last year.

    • just tried, didn't work. What reason did you use last year?

      • I just asked nicely to the sales person at the Narre Warren Good Guys store. He then I guess asked his manager and they offered at the same price as online.

  • +1

When’s the x85J going on sale? Want that 43” for my bedroom

  • How do you guys have a afterpay limit of over 1K?

Mine is only 1K and I can't buy it using afterpay

    • the limit increased as you using it. keep using afterpay even for something small value.

  • Anyone who knows about TVs, any recommendations for this or TCL C825?
Mostly be used for sport and streaming.

    • Im tossing up between both too, so far the Sony is winning going off my research. Best thing I can suggest is going onto Rtings.com and looking up both models, they do pretty in dept analysis on them and can recommend one based on your use case.

      • TCL australian models are incomparable to the US models so the american websites are useless for it.

They give the good stuff to US to get good ratings, then sell rubbish to us with much much lower specs (evne use the same model number). Be careful of TCL, Hisense and Samsung. Not sure if LG or Sony do it too.

        • The USA model TCL R646 is the equivalent to the C825.
(It's HiSense that are incomparable to the US models and they use the same model number to dupe Australian and Euro Customers)

C825 is technically superior to the X90J.

      • I've had a look at some reviews from few different sites, but quite mixed so hard to know what's best for me use.
I've seen them both instore, but using looped material, both looked ok.
Noticed the Sony has 2 HDMI and TCL got 4. 2 may be light on.

Hopefully some of the people who know alot about TVs can give there view

  • Doesn’t work unless your after pay let’s you buy over $2000

    • As @eltito states. It does work under $2000.

Sony price matched me for the 65" at 1895, and gave me a $30 discount to 1865

    http://puu.sh/IPpGB/65bcfcb10e.png

    5% shopback down to 1771

    • Nice, thanks for sharing. How long did the price match take? I requested it 6pm last night but I haven't heard back yet.

      • Update: Used the Sony chat to get the price match. Same 1865 price delivered as above + shopback.

      • +1

took forever for sony to get back to me but they did, probably requested 10pm, and matched + discounted the next day at like 8pm

    • Delivery included?

      • over 200 is free delivery with sony

    • seems only 4.5% shopback

      • My understanding is that shopback is ex gst (and shipping).

Sony store price match (free delivery) = $1865.00

        Ex-gst = $1695.45455, 5% cashback = $84.77

        Ozbargain price = $1780.23

  • Anybody managed to price match any other retail store? I tried Harvey Norman and the lowest is $2k.

    • If you had to include shipping, the total cost of this deal is $1950. $2k isn't bad if you are in the market for one. Of course, click and collect is better but it wasn't available for me

      • I had $700 from one of the amex thing. So unfortunately have to buy from Harvey Norman. They price matched without delivery. I just set it up, great tv. Sound is surprisingly good as well.

sony website does it, and further discounts $30, free shipping too, add in shopback even cheaper

      • Yep works out to $1780.23 after shopback with free delivery from the Sony store. Ripper of a price.

        • is it? the LG C1 at 55" is on offer for 1.8k as well.

Quality vs size??? The C1 is an OLED and way higher stats in all areas:
          https://www.tvfindr.com/compare-tvs/?tv-1=155654&tv-2=156410

          • @tighttightass: Yeah quality vs size is the never ending debate. 55" is too small for our living room so a 65" x90j is the perfect balance of size to quality for me.

I can't personally justify the additional $950 for the 65" c1 but I'm sure there are those who can.

  • Hi knowledgeable peoples,
I am seriously considering this (via sony au) but wondering if people can help assess if its the right fit for me.

    Mostly movies (bd, netflix, disney)
    Plus streaming tv

NO real gaming (wii u, might get a switch or more proper console one day but it's not a major consideration)

Always use receiver for 5.1 sound.

Big windows/bright room BUT 90% viewing at night.

Generally use chromecast with google home but having it built in seems appealling

My main question is if I'm paying for gaming and sound features I'll never use and if that means I should look for something without those selling points?

Stepping up from a Hisense 43R6 in that room but have a trusty old plasma in the dark (but small) music room (Panasonic TH-P50ST60A).

    Thanks for any wisdom,

    Andrew.

    • My main question is if I'm paying for gaming and sound features I'll never use and if that means I should look for something without those selling points?

Not necessarily, but yes, they are gaming features only so if you're looking at 2 TV's and the only difference is the gaming features and price, buy the cheaper one.

      • Thanks. I was pretty much hoping to find exactly that situation but so many options….

    • +1

My thoughts after using it yesterday. It's really a good TV as navigating through the system was fast. Having everything internally makes it a breeze to use (I had a firestick Max HD in the previous TV), as you can switch from one thing to another in the same remote.

I'm hoping being a Sony, this TV will last at least over 5 years or more (my previous Panasonic would not die until it was strike by lightning surge). But the replacement EKO QLED died at the 12 months mark. The TV also detects what you are watching and apply the video settings accordingly (i.e dolby vision on Disney plus IMAX enhanced stuff).

Hope that helps. I still have a Sony price matched (which I didn't use) and happy to help if you need it.

      • Thanks. Yes it does help a bit.

Unfortunately, now I'm hung up on the glare problems people talk about the viewing angle. The only reason I hesitated earlier today was because I started considering stepping up to 75 inch. ggrrrrrrr. I am my own worst enemy.

Have you noticed any issues with glare or viewing angle?

        • I'm looking for a TV that will pull triple duty!
TV/Movies, Current Gen Gaming AND Computer Monitor for 1 day work from home each week (using windows to emulate "multiple monitors" displayed on the same physical screen).

The TV will be in our Study/Spare Room and it's our only option for a second "lounge room", plus the spare bed is already a (pretty comfortable, yes it's actually possible) Sofa Bed.

I finally made it out to a store this weekend to review the viewing angle and honestly, I could barely see a difference from a 30cm from screen viewing distance (significantly closer than my use case as a monitor). It's certainly well overhyped as a downside, and nothing like old LCD screens when viewed from an angle.

I have no glare issue for my use case.

          • @ESEMCE: Thanks. I pulled the trigger. Hopefully I'll forget to even look for the issues by the time it arrives.

  • Actually I don't have issue with the viewing angle compared to the EKO 58 inch QLED. That was really bad. This one for my eyes it was just a slight reduce in colour when viewing from angle. Go to JB, GG and check it out yourself. There is a reason why TVs have a low, mid and high range in price. You really do get what you paid for. This to me is considered a mid range TV at slightly higher price due to paying for the brand.
