  So I have to buy a Virgin sim as well, so total costs is $20 which is the phone plus the $19 Virgin credit. Is Virgin any good does it run on the Optus network.

    I'm sure the phone itself comes with a SIM, and likely locked to Virgin.

    This is the same as the Coles offer last week. The phone comes with a sim in the pack.

    Since the recharge is $19, you get the phone for $1

    And since I needed the recharge for my main virgin based phone, they effectively gave me a spare phone for $1.

    Only downer is I haven't seen any cracks for this phone yet, so its locked.

    I am using Virgin and sometimes have problems with calls on peak hours. Like I will be talking to someone and then suddenly it cuts off. Sometimes I even can't make a call and have to try several times. I think the optus network is already congested as people from vodafail moved to them as Telstra is expensive.

      Same here… Virgin was working well, until the past few months, where some days I'd receive no service at all.
      Virgin customer service did confess that there is a 'overload' of people connected to the network in my area, and I can opt out of my service/contract if I wanted to for no charge (only the payout for the actual phone).

        I think you should not payout for the phone as they have not delivered their service. You should be able to complain with the appropriate telecommunication body. When my friend had the same issue with vodafone, he returned everything and cancelled the service.

  If your planning to use this with optus sim - dont bother because it wont work. You will need to unlock the phone then use it with optus sim.
