Highly regarded pressure cooker and by the looks of things can be a bit hard to get (cheaply) in Australia. It is available currently on Amazon AU for $319.99. Unfortunately 3Camels doesn't have any price history for this particular product. Kuhn Rikon stuff is usually pretty pricey so I'm thinking this is a decent price.

  • My indian mum might be interested. I will send her the deal!

Nice. I'm just hoping we find a few people who enjoy the deal. :D

    • And we're so eager to hear your Chinese dad's interest on the product.

  • Are these that much better than a multi cooker?

    • +1

Some people are a bit old school and want a stove top pressure cooker. Quick google also suggests stove top ones get higher pressure and may take up less space.

      • I have one similar to this one, and also a philips multi cooker. The Phillips one is really good, silent and better use of "energy". I use it the most, but the old school one, can reach higher pressures which we only use for a single recipe. The only thing i hate about the Phillips, is how much the rubber seal stinks after cooking, while the old one is easier to clean

        • Isn't it silicone? You can place silicone seals into the oven at about 200c for 30mins, which will help burn off the aromatics that get trapped in the material. Wash and it should remove most smells.

@bargainshooter: Thanks, will give it a try. We tried making natural yogurt and ended up with an onion flavoured one.

    • It's all abt the PSi

    • gets higher pressure than a multi-cooker, but has the hassle of stove top and temperature control vs electric plug and thermal control ….. I have 3 pressure cookers and haven't put on stove top since my instapot ….

    • The inner basket is aluminium ? I am not sure have heard people avoid cooking in aluminium pot..?..(I know there are multiple research done on cooking in aluminium pot, and not sure which one to believe in)…

    • +1

Really depends on the multi cooker I guess? I have the Breville fast slow pro and find the variable pressure adjustment and automated release functions incredibly useful. Replaced the inner pot with stainless steel and it's almost perfect. The only negative is that it doesn't have precise adjustable temperature control.

Higher pressure, less space and non-venting. Non-venting pressure cookers seem to produce superior results for stock at least https://cookingissues.com/2009/11/22/pressure-cooked-stocks-…

Personally I like an electric multi like the breville fast slow pro. Just for sheer convenience.

  • This definitely looks like a good deal for this Kuhn Rikon model.

However, if you're looking to spend a bit less, the Tefal Secure Neo 5 pressure cooker is currently on sale on Amazon:

    6 Litre = https://www.amazon.com.au/Tefal-Secure-Neo-Pressure-Cooker/d…
    8 Litre = https://www.amazon.com.au/Tefal-Secure-Neo-Pressure-Cooker/d…

We have this unit and have used it for around 5 years now. Its high quality and easy to maintain. Cant fault it at this price!

I definitely think the "Kuhn Rikon" brand adds a tonne to the price tag. I only really know as I've looked at some of their other products in the past like a garlic press. It was highly recommended but ridiculously overpriced. RRP $89.95.

These also go on sale at ALDI every now and then. We picked up an 8 litre 6 litre for 44.95 as it sat there for a month and didn't sell (original price was 89.95 i believe).

It's got a slightly different name, but from all my searches, is the same model with the same features just red accents not green?

  • you can get from Ebay for like $50ish a 7L one, been using SUNNY brand cooker i bought, its made in india, no problem and easy to clean, specially the rubber seal.

    • +1

Yeah, I think this is more for the people who have to have "Kuhn Rikon". I'm sure there are lots of cheaper pressure cookers that perform similarly to this.

  • only 20 cm diameter. Too narrow for indian style cooking

  • I have a version of these, 12 litres. Awesome. I use it for my stock etc and slow cooking.

  • Prefer an electric one.
They are insulated, offer precise timing and heating.
Cheaper too - e.g. instant pot which has stainless steel insert as well.
