Hey Guys,

I know camping gear is overpriced and there are constantly sales but this looked like a good deal to me or any other outdoor fathers.

Cheers

    Hi guys,

I'm the biggest fan of baby carriers - I reckon that they are one of the best "toys" for parents with young kids - the kids love being in them, the parents love the freedom etc. etc.

I just wouldn't touch this brand for baby carriers. Now, its not a personal experience (as we have 2 carriers for our 3 kids all from other brands - one German, one Local/NZ), but I have heard from a few people in our baby circle that they have had trouble with them (bolts coming off, kick-stand failing etc.)

Also, I don't buy the $349.98 -> $139.99.. but then again, who does, when it comes to Kathmandu..?

    • Hi FairCrack, what brand would you recommend? I've found it difficult to get a decent answer on what is worth buying.

      • Hey there - just saw this e-mail. I'm a fan of the 2 german brands you find out here - Tatonka and Vaude. I also have seen a few Phil & Teds ones about - they seem a little less sturdy - but in saying that, more compact.

There are other ones from a brand called "Ergo" (I think) which is like a fabric carrier. I don't use that (prefer a solid frame and padded straps), but have seen some good reviews on them.

My biggest recommendation would be to go to an Outdoor Shop (proper one, not Kathmandu) where the people who work there KNOW about equipment like this (ie. they sell backpacks). You really should take along your child to test out (make sure they are over 6 months and hav solid head control).

The other tip I got from the guys who I bought both of ours from (a place in Sydney CBD) - was to make sure you have a small pocket mirror with you, so you can check in and see your child at any time (ie. like a rear-view mirror). They threw in a small stainless steel one that I have attached to the carrier now at all times.

        Hope that helps..?
