Actually I use 'some of the Telstra network' through Telechoice and it's pretty damn good, actually better than 'all of the Optus network' which I also have access to!
Telstra store said you couldn't do the outright purchase and get the tablet. Which you clearly can, phone store sales people are the worst. Probably don't get any commission on outright sales.
From Telstra site: If you already have a service with us, you can buy outright without adding a plan. I understand not everyone can buy it outright, unless you already with Telstra?

hmm yeah, i got a message pop up saying i couldn't check out with the out-right option, saying I had something in my cart that couldn't be bought, i just clicked the remove and continue and the phone was still in the cart (exact same price and cart contents as before clicking the 'remove and continue' option). I don't have a telstra ID and cbf making one hah.

If you buy direct from JBHifi as a price beat and include BYO $69 plan with $300 gift card .. will they offer Samsung tablet as well?

Because my concern is if I go through the process (although its written), they may deny me the tablet if it wasn't their original intention for it to qualify. If that happens, sure I could argue my point, but I imagine it would be a painful process. Would prefer hearing it from someone who has potentially already confirmed with Telstra (or a rep).

To buy outright with Telstra as this happened for me during Telstra day all you'll be required to do is setup a free Telstra account, they will ask you to do this through checkout so initially you don't need to be a Telstra member to start buying outright, just note when purchasing on start webpage, don't click any plans, click outright for phone only, click next

Thanks for the clarification on your experience with the Telstra day offers.
In terms of it in writing, the website editors sometimes can make mistakes on the page (eg. pricing errors), which reps may have correct background information on. I just find it odd that they would add a ~$500 tablet on top of an outright offer that other retailers are not offering, one of those too good to be true situations. I'm really just being cautious before committing to the pre-order.
@frogduck: Look on eBay the tablet is not worth $500, can imagine how much Telstras pays for them buying bulk, dare I say there advertising for Samsung their products, anyway Telstra wouldn't offer something if they weren't making money on it, my S21 256gb mobile on Telstra day I got for $672 its recommend price was twice as much, an example Telstra having buying power

@frogduck: If you feel in doubt about anything and most of us do this by habit now, just document everything with screenshots etc to cover one self, like I said were all doing so, you have others to fall back on for help here on Ozbargain, this deal certainly isn't fake with Telstra
Edit: I still think the Jbhifi deal is better as the A7 tablet is much cheaper and speed wouldn't be much difference to the A8 tablet, maybe some better specs
@frogduck: They are also advertising this deal on free to air TV hopefully that helps your concerns even further, I still think the S22 Jbhifi trade-in S22 deal here* is still a better deal with their $450 bonus Trade-in voucher which you can eithet pocket or use towards the new A8 tablet, also the non 4G wifi only A8 tablet versions will be even cheaper (unless you'll need 4G option in the future), quick google search A8 wifi only version for $389 with free delivery here and $359 at digidirect also free postage here and what if my maths is right you'll still pocket $160ish

I called Telstra by phone just to make sure and the rep confirmed you can either buy the S22 outright or with a plan to claim a Bonus Tab A8 and a Bonus Gift Bundle.
Has anyone got more information about this offer. Im tempted getting the S22 outright without a plan. From what i can see from the Telstra website and terms and conditions, you don't need to add the phone to a plan to get the tab A8, however to get the year of disney + you need a plan added. However i feel getting a free Tab A8 without a plan added is too good to be true?

I cannot buy this phone outright from Telstra, constant errors. For starters, i needed to provide ID and Credit Check to purchase a phone outright for some reason. Never in my life have i needed to have a credit check for an outright purchase, lol. Anyway, when i submit the credit check i instantly get a "something went wrong" page. Tried 4 times on mobile and computer.
Went into a Telstra store, but there was a 1hr+ wait.
I'd go with the JB deal, but they offered me half of what i think i can sell my phone for on eBay.

Can anyone advise if that online pre-orders are eligible for the bonus tablet? Read the T&C but it only refers to "Participating Retail Store" and gives a list of third party retail stores?

Not sure how others are going with this, but from an outright purchase, I'm at the status where I've submitted the claim for the tablet + gift bundle, and it has been validated, but no word on shipping / update e-mails yet.

Spoke with Samsung Support the other day. They claim that Telstra is the one doing dispatch (despite tracking clearly being on their site), and that it should be sent out within 60 days. He was quick to say it usually was sent within 15-30 days though, 60 was a top-end figure.
How true that is, guess we'll have to wait & see. Gonna give them another week then try calling again.

It says Received by our network in Greenacre NSW 29/3 11:39am. It's also marked as delayed and I haven't gotten any tracking updates since it leaving Sydney North West same day 10:12pm. I rang them today to ask about it and the agent said it'd be delivered tomorrow (I'm in QLD).
My tracking email was also really suspicious looking and got auto flagged by my spam filter - just in case that helps

I checked the connote - my Samsung redemption says "shipped 24/3", but was actually sent on 1/4 (hence the lack of tracking email, probably).
Glad I got it but Samsung's dispatch needs improvement.
