Hey rep what are your thoughts on Telstra not giving a fork about long term loyal customers?

    • +5

It's a pain, but port out/switch, then come back… you're right, they won't take care of you if you do nothing, but that's a big part of their business model I'm sure.

      • +2

it works for NBN, but for Velocity, Telstra is the only choice. Waiting for the Uniti upgrade.

        • Just called to check if there is any deal for Velocity user today, and was told the only upgrade option is prenium speed, which is 110/month for 100Mbps/17Mbps…Hope Uniti upgrage comes sooner.

    • +1

      TPG are better at this.

      • Not necessarily. Was with TPG for years but nothing.

        • We got the 200mbps plan for $86 at dad's house last year. When I tried it as a new customer at my place they refused to match, so I guess there's something for existing customers.

    • Just port out and back in, you are a new customer

  • +9

Still $20 more expensive compared to any other decent ISP.

    • +3

$75 after discount. Might as well pay for Disney+ or whatever else yourself.

  • +1

$1/month deal for 2 months was unbelievable value (a couple of months ago). Free Disney Plus for a year was the icing on the cake.

  • +2

Hey Jimothy. I'm a long-term customer too, and I know that I love a freebie as much as the next OzBargainer. That's why, if you're on an eligible plan, we've made the existing Disney+ on us deal apply to you as well.

From our post in January (https://exchange.telstra.com.au/disney-plus-on-us/):
"We’re rewarding existing Telstra Home Internet customers who upgrade to our $95 and above Home Internet plans (nbn50, nbn100 and nbn250 speed tiers), as our way of saying thanks for staying with us."

Nobody spoil The Avengers for me pls. This Tony Stark guy has a bright future I reckon.

(edit: not sure why this didn't go into the comment thread, but still)

      Hi Luke
I have a prepaid mobile plan with Boost, so I have a Telstra ID
Am I still considered a "new customer' for your other products ie the one referred in this deal?

I don't have an active Telstra product (being billed to me) at this moment, I had in the past

      • +1

i'm pretty sure that "New customer" means New NBN service. You should be fine.

    • Nobody spoil The Avengers for me pls.

      Thanos was right.

      • -1

No he wasn't, he was left, like Albo…

        • -1

Maybe, Thanos, at least, was random in who he destroyed. The LNP have very specific targets.

          • +1

            @try2bhelpful:

The LNP have very specific targets.

Albo attacks randomly and only eats brown bread apparently…

          • -2

@try2bhelpful: radical leftist thugs are quite specific in who they attack, doxx, and deprive of income. Their favourite tactic is to defame people so they lose their job, make death threats, vandalise and ransack businesses and public properties.

The 'tolerant, peaceful' left wingers are so full of shit.
your virtue-signalling username is also another indicator of what sort of person you are.

            https://www.brisbanetimes.com.au/national/queensland/death-t…

“We had the school vandalised over the weekend and some very hateful things vandalised on the school,” he said.
“We’ve had the principal receiving death threats. These sorts of things aren’t tolerant or inclusive.

Here's one loud radical left, twitter feed full of bile and vitriol towards the PM and their little clique is only too happy to publicly mock and smear mud on his daughter's appearance and clothing. Read the tweet replies there and see for yourself.

            https://www.news.com.au/national/politics/prime-ministers-da…

Jonathan Sri (Greens) had given material support to Extinction Rebellion - the radical leftists who cause so much public nuisance.
An aboriginal Greens senator tweeted “Seems like the colonial system is burning down. Happy New Year everyone.” as their aboriginal activist friends tried to burn down the old parliament house.

If you vote Labor or Greens, these are the sort of people you're empowering.

      • Ok this was supposed to be a light hearted meme post but I see it's caused a bit of a stir…

  • Hey OP, do you have any details on fixed wireless NBN plans? The website says to call, but I would prefer to look at it all in writing.

  • +1

    Tempting….disney+ 1 year is worth around $100

  • +1

Almost take the this deal until notice it's "New customer only".

  • +5

Not a good deal. As others have said. Go with Aussie or Super loop. Better support and cost less.

  • +10

Not worth the stress of having to deal with Telstra Support…

    • +1

Amen brother. It is the worst.

    • +1

too right .. been chasing them down for 3 months over money owed to me (it was their idea to offer it!). everyone on chat, email, call promises that someone will ring within 24-48hours to discuss it, it has been 6 times assured and nothing but silence in return. It is almost worth giving up.. time, effort, frustration; all for $100. Far out.

      • time, effort, frustration;

Many know that feeling all too well…

  • +1

Almost had me, but then i saw new customers only.

  • +1

I have taken this deal. At the end of the purchase, it says to connect the Telstra modem and the connection will kick in using 4G service and then NBN will be activated.

I am planning to continue to use the existing modem. @lukehopewell, any idea when the NBN connection will be activated by Telstra if I don't even connect the Telstra modem?

    • +1

The connection takes place when they do the transfer. It isn't dependent on the modem being used.

  • +2

Oh, what? I thought it was $75-$20 for nbn50.

Try again please Luke! Seriously. I'd swap, but I'm not swapping for a $2 saving on Disney plus for 6 months.

  • Superloop are currently offering their 50/20 plan for $55 p/m for 6 months and $70 p/m thereafter.

  • hmmm is it possible to set it for later date? I still have active nbn connection.

  • I would go with Telstra, if they offered 100/40 on fttn, but they just blanket rule don't allow it on FTTN.

  • Disney+ subscription can be shared between 4-5 peeps, don't think this shld be a buying point for these over priced plans

  • +1

Telstra went from the gold standard to the Werribbee gold standard in service. My NBN service with them dropped out EVERY day. Since I switched to ABB, no dropouts. The Philippino non-help desk was a waste of time. When I think of the hours wasted with them …

  • Some good pricing on Pixel 6 - only problem is you need to sign up to a plan…

    • You don’t just click outright

  • While this may be considered a bargain compared to Telstra's standard offer - (save $120 over six months) this is not a bargain compared to the competition. In fact even at this reduced price, it's still more expensive than the competition.

Then you have to factor in Telstra's woeful technical support.

You'd have to have rocks in your head to take up this supposed "bargain".

  • So, I wanted to move from TPG to Telstra. I put my address I get Unavailable error message:

Looks like this address has multiple connections.
Message us to find out more about the connection and complete your order.

    Started at chat at 12:53
Found at: 14:29 this offer is not available to me and best they can do is $10 discount

It is the same inclusion for the plan, The only difference is the payment method and the discount.
Because upfront plan is not yet available on your area. But maybe in the future you can subscribe to that and you will a notification once it is already available on your area.

  • Not worth it imo. Mate it’s only $69 for same speed and also if you leave before the 2 years modem is $200.

    • +1

I also pay $69 for the same speed, actually less because I have Superloop referrals that give me 10% off for each referral
