10GB Storage Lifetime Hosting with Unlimited Email Domains / Accounts US$175 (~A$250) @ MXroute

90

With the recent announcement from Google regarding the plan to start charging for GSuite Legacy hosting, I started looking around for other options and stumbled across an offer that MXRoute are still running. Details are:-

We have a very limited number of lifetime packages to sell. These include 10GB storage, unlimited email accounts, unlimited domains, and 300 outbound emails per hour limit. All regular features included like Crossbox, Roundcube, Rainloop, and our DirectAdmin-based control panel. Get it now for $175, when it’s sold out there may not be any more!

I know lifetime deals often get slammed and criticised but MXRoute have been around for a while and whilst no guarantee of future longevity they aren't a fly by night operation. Some people on other sites have complained about the abruptness of the support received, but a lot seem to counter that with the fact that that majority of info to get going is on their site and they don't hand hold people.

Anyway, may not be for all but may be for some. It's an option for those stuck in the what do I do when GSuite starts charging boat.

Interesting, I am in the same boat.
Considering using office 365 premium which I have anyway. Of course it only allows one domain and DNS must be go daddy…

    • I tidied up a load of my GSuite email yesterday and got down from 2.8GB to 1GB without too much hassle (amazing how much crap I just hit archive on that in reality I never actually needed to retain).

Its only the wife and I who have separate accounts on the domain so 10GB should last us with no dramas.

The doco on MXRoute seems to be top notch and they have a tutorial on being able to use Gmail as a mail client which may well suit a lot of people.

Sorry, you can use any DNS service for Office365, and it can do multiple domains as well. Not sure who gave you your information…

the last "Lifetime Hosting" I used went bankrupted in 2years.
When ppl c the words"Lifetime", they usually thinking it's their life time but is not.

Yeah, the last lifetime hosting plan I signed up to ended up with the host getting sold to a larger competitor within 2 years, who changed the deal to a discount on a year's hosting.

Yep, totally agree. Avoid any small companies with 'lifetime' products unless it's something like Microsoft. I bought the Grid.io lifetime licence and it turned out to be a big scam.

        • yep me too Grid.io - what a load of piss in the wind

    • Got the feedly lifetime back in '12ish when (checks notes - oh yes) Google stopped doing RSS and it's still going strong.

Not all lifetimes are a scam.

Lifetime VPN's however - not so good.

I've got a Black Friday special 10GB for $10/yr with them since 2 years ago and can vouch for the quality.

dreamithost.com.au kicked me off the lifetime discount plan as they couldn't afford it anymore

    • What happened? I'm on a lifetime 60% off hosting plan and was hoping it would transfer to a plan with more storage. Any tips on how to avoid getting kicked off?

      • Don't talk to their support. Once they notice they'll change your plan and continue to give BS excuses why they can't even offer the discount anymore

Black Friday LTD price was $99.
Have to wait until November for the next one!

I had the same experience with Downunder hosting, offered cheap price to get customers in for a lifetime offer then send an email around to say they can't afford the low prices and we do recommend you sign with … hosting

The average lifespan of an American company is 11.5 years, so it’s not surprising to see companies such as Microsoft and Walmart in the top 10 longest-lasting companies list.

An average lifespan for an early-stage technology company is seven years, while in general, about 3% of all businesses survive the past ten years.

  • MXRoute are decent, I had one of their ongoing $10/yr promos for quite some time, but do not use them if you run a business. Unfortunately their billing system is/was horrendous, regular outages and spam issues resulting in missing emails. I ditched them for Zoho a year or so ago.

They are also not a noob service. If you don't know what SPF and DKIM stand for then look elsewhere.

In true OzBargain fashion, I'm going to test out mailinabox on an always free tier of cloud hosting. Currently testing it out and will report back with results.

  • Who does everyone else use for a email host for their family domains?

Zoho looks cheap enough? I don't really trust this company to continue when they've been offering lifetime plans for the last two years.

    • I use Migadu

    • Zoho. $19.80 a year.

There's even a basic free plan if you only have a single domain. Not sure how many aliases or inboxes that plan allows however.

      • The cheapest plan shows $7.7/month on their website

Apparently if you have under 10 email users on a custom domain they’re going to allow you to stay for free!

    • But according to what I've read, not if you want a custom domain. Have you heard otherwise?

    • You are wrong. Custom domain is not included in the new personal use free tier.

  • I got mxroute on the aussie launch, think it was 15GB for 10$
    it's pretty good

I got the $10USD/yr 10GB Black Friday deal last year… 17.5y break-even cost on the lifetime plan is a bit rich for me!

But yes agree with others, if you don't have experience fiddling with DNS, don't do this.

    • But if you are comparing that to the $8'ish that Google are going to charge per account per month then the break even cost comes down significantly compared to what you snared on a once a year deal……which was obviously a good one you got at the time.

    • Currently testing the $US10/yr from https://purelymail.com/

Documentation that even I can follow and a free taster (a couple of weeks worth).

      Solid so far.
