[QLD] Arlec Grid Connect Smart Globes, White LED $4 each, RGB LED $5.25 (Clearance Stock) @ Bunnings

270

Looks like the whole range of Arlec Grid Connect globes are on Clearance, seen at two stores in QLD with plenty of stock. No longer listed on their website though so gotta call or go instore.

I have my whole house using these no issues but some people have said they have issues with the app, there is other apps you can use grid connect items with if you look them up and hey good price for smart globes.

They can be a bit wobbly on initial setup but always works great for me.

I use the Tuya app, although I don’t think it makes any difference.

    • If you're on an iPhone, make sure you have bluetooth on and lower power mode off - I found that massively simplifies the initial set up of most Tuya devices. I'm not using Tuya, I'm using Smart Life (another Tuya-owned app) makes it work well

website maintenance as at 18:50 AEST?

    • That is weird, but I checked before posting the deal none of them are listed on the site anymore.

can you turn them on without a phone?

    • +2

I have mine linked to my google home so use voice commands….or could always use the light switch. But do need a phone to set them up with google etc

      No you can't.

    • can turn them on with alexa app on windows
also if u turn switch off for 2seconds and turn it back on it will light up like normal.

    • You might need to be more specific with your use case.

If you flick the light switch off and on they should turn on again.

I with they are all zigbee devices, not wifi one…

    • +1

      Huh?

      • +2

He WISH they are ZigBee globes

Is BigLeviathan perhaps Mike Tyson's username???

      • Whoops, auto correct made the words don't make any sense.

        *I wish

I thought these need the Arlec hub? If not might give the par38s a go. Been wanting the externals spotlights changed to remote control for a while.

    • +2

Nar only the motion sensors/temp sensor etc need the hub, bulbs are just Wi-Fi.

Ta mate -might be worth a cheeky trip to Bunnings before work tomorrow then.

    • I looked at these but unfortunately they say keep in dry and cool place. No detail about IP ratings.

Ah poop. Guess I can make some smart spotlights for my undercover outdoor gym.

  • Sweet. I have all my smart devices using arlec power points, globes and powerboards.

  • Saw some in West Ipswich last weekend. Some models were close to being out of stock at the time.

  • I’m gonna grab a bunch of the R80 globes
At that price they are cheaper than standard LED globes

Just been to A Bunnings in WA. Prices are no where near those.

For example the PAR38 is $8 in photo above. $25 here. Won’t price match either.

    • Same price at Bayswater WA :-)

      • Same price as NeonNinja or OP? Thanks!

        • The higher price. I bought none.
As above, I normally avoid wifi lights - so many incompatible cloud-dependent brands. Zigbee is the way to go.
But I was hoping for some cheap PAR-38s.

    • Bunnings Claremont had them at $10 a globe. I grabbed 2 bayonet and 2 screw (CCT) but don't think I'll end up using them as I'm going to convert to zigbee. PM me if you want them

  • any led strip lights?

    • Nar sadly they were normal prices.

  • Can these work fully locally? If they're being cleared out, I'd be worried how long the Grid Connect servers will be kept running.

    • +1

It's only the globes being cleared out not GRIDs other products (and there is a shitload), I'd say is a new range of globes coming soon as this version is pretty old these days and other companies have newer versions of globes out.

As for locally you can use them as normal LED bulbs, but no not without the app for voice control etc.

    • Yeah there are hundreds of Grid Connect products (including recent ones) still around at Bunnings so I'm sure they're just bringing out a new revision of these particular globes

    • It's Tuya - just use the app to register. Not going anywhere

    • Grid Connect use a tuya back end, so if the grid connect app stops being supported you can just move them to tuya smart life. Flashing them with tasmota/ESPHome is not likely to work over the air (have to disassemble to flash), but if you use HomeAssistant you can set them up to use LocalTuya which controls them locally (can disconnect from internet and still have them controllable, so even if the servers are down they will still work via home assistant).

  • RGB ones are pretty dim

    • Is this normal for other globes? I only ever used the Arlec globes so I dunno if other brands' led globes would do better for RGB colour?

      • Probably. Only used Grid and Mirabella, but both are dim. Warm white is nice though

  • Has anyone seen the WA prices come down?
