      • oops… lottery? cool!

        • +1

Yes a lottery lol. Seems to be somewhere between 20GB and 50GB. Even if it's 20GB it's still a good buy. Just buy more SIMs if you need more data.

          • +1

@finbar: $1 for 20GB of data is hell of a deal if you’re just using it as a second sim

          • +2

            @finbar: Yep I've had 20, 30, 40, and 50. I couldn't figure out any pattern why so I gave up trying.

            • @[Deactivated]: hey, did you get it via Unidays app? or from kogan.com?

              • @Urbahns2008: To purchase? I just clicked the deal image at the top of this page.

  • Received the sim, cannot receive call or text but outgoing are fine. Says incoming call restriction. Never trust Kogan.

    • Hm never struck that before but I think I remember someone having a similar problem a long time ago. Not sure if it was Kogan but probably - and I think I remember they contacted the telco reps who posted out a new SIM.

  • The $0.01 Sim in the previous deal could be used for recharging existing Kogan mobile service with the voucher code.
Wondering if same can be done with this offer.

    • Yeh I’m wondering the same. Curious to find out if anyone tried. I won’t find out until end of next month when I get to try this myself.

      • +1

If these codes do recharge a SIM on an existing plan, someone on page one said it changes your plan type to this new one. Some people might not want that if the ongoing cost of their current plan is cheaper than the month #2 cost of this one.

    • Would like to know as well. I’ve been using only one of the $0.01 sim and just use the recharge codes on that one sim

Was hoping with the rest of unused 1c sim whether it’ll count as a new service

      • Yes, it does. So your previous data will go

  • I bought 8 sim card and half of them is having problems (either incoming call restriction or no sim card installed), the other half is working.

    • So that's two now. Sounds like a temporary system fault.

  • Thanks op, will be putting these in a mobile hotspot

  • And Kogan doesn't refund the additional $1 test charge on the credit card?

    • +1

      Takes up to a week

Kogan intentionally changes delivery speed when i insert the code, so watch out

  • Given they can be activated anytime up to the end of November, does that mean you can just buy several of these $1 Sims and just use the codes to top up the account each month (until November)?

The page in the link doesn't say anything about it being for new customers only…

    • I bought one of $1 and didn’t allow me to top up (after they changed the wording) I thought it could now be changed for topping up but that doesn’t seem like the case. The 0.01 work a charm instead

      • Did you get 30GB? Does your voucher says new activation only?

The page is saying 2 different things. On the description box under "What happens after I purchase my voucher code?" it says "If you are already a Kogan Mobile customer, simply login to your account and use your voucher to recharge. Each voucher can be redeemed for a LARGE Monthly Plan without any additional charge."

Then at the T&C section it says "$20 Student Pack is valid for new Kogan Mobile customers only who are UNIDAYS members and only valid one voucher per person."

        • Weird first time got 40gb. This time 50gb. $1 code do not work for recharge. 0.01 do

  • Its over…

    • +2

      New code is UNIKMDAYS

      • It went off sale for a while but it looks like it’s back now

      • +1

        Code is already not working…

        • Yup just have to wait for op to update.

        • I can't get a new code atm
It says "We couldn't issue you a code. Please check back shortly."

  • This was good whilst it lasted.

  • Hello friends…..does anyone know about the new code…..the last one is not working anymore…..kind regards

  • Thank you my friend…..GB

Does this thing works for recharging further month as well or not…..I just ported my number from amaysim to kogan using this….I was wondering if I can recharge the same Sim next month using this or not…..

    • Not for recharge

    • +1

I just recharged after 28 days of using it. Thought it would be worth the dollar if I could save tens of more to check if I can recharge. Seemed to work just fine. However on the previous one I had 50GB (they gave me 20 bonus) but this time around just got the 30GB. Either way pretty worth it. Stocked up a few because of this

      • So it does work for recharging the next month….means i can recharge till we have this offer….

        • Yep from what I can see. I bought 8 as it says the vouchers must be used before 30/11

          • @DiZzy123: Perfect… Sounds so good….. At least we can save a bit of money in this category considering the rising cost of everything elsewhere…

            • @ARUN365: For sure. Hopefully this keeps going in the next promotion once this expires. Hope you have a great weekend

      • +1

        a) Mine have been saying 30GB upon activation. But when I login some time later I find it has updated to 50GB. So login again and check.

        b) I'm surprised recharging worked, because people have been saying recharge only works using the 1 cent SIMs (those lucky enough to get them), not the current $1 SIMs.

        c) Keep in mind even if recharge works, someone earlier in the thread said if you were already on a different Kogan plan and use these SIM codes to try and recharge that, your plan changes over to this one. (I don't know that for certain. I'm just citing what others said.)

        • +1

          a) yep now got 50GB thanks!

          b) I’m as surprised as you are. Don’t know why it worked but had another voucher for a family member and thought to try it out and it worked. who knows

          c) Yep it did override my previous one can confirm :)

      • Glad it worked for you Dizzy!

When you successfully recharged, did you recharge on the Kogan Mobile account site (one that says I have an email with a voucher code) or on this recharge link (the one that's mostly a blank page that says "Recharge Prepaid Service" then you put your number in)?

        • via the Kogan mobile app, which I'm assuming is the same as the account site since Kogan just uses the site as its app

          • @DiZzy123: I received invalid voucher msg when I try to recharge with this $1 code
I am wondering how you successfully recharge it . Did you recharge AFTER everything has expired ?

            thx

            • @ggfatty: That's weird. No, I didn't. I used to get invalid code but then I waited a couple days and then it worked. It seems kind of hit or miss sometimes so I reckon try after a day or two?

UPDATE: Just tried putting in another code I bought without clicking "Next" and it doesn't say invalid code. Might be depending on when the voucher was bought?

              • @DiZzy123: I activated one of these vouchers/SIMs, used all the data, then installed the Kogan phone app, and tried to recharge it using a second voucher. It wouldn't accept it.

If you're doing the same thing and work out how/why it's working, could you let us all know?

                • @[Deactivated]: Just recharged an expired plan by a 1c voucher. Like you mentioned above, 1c deal may be different to 1$ deal.

                  • @Neoika: Ah ok that's probably it then. Thanks.

                    • @[Deactivated]: Data is updated to 50GB now. I was on the old $4.9 deal plan, expired a few days ago. 20GB was probably added for being a new customer to this 30GB plan.

                • @[Deactivated]: Really sorry but I wish I could explain how it worked for me. Really not sure why it worked. I've been with koganmobile since 2017 but I don't think the sim type impacts on whether the voucher works.

I only used about 20% before the month ended and I recharged, so not sure whether it depends on how much data you use or when the voucher was purchased?

                  • @DiZzy123: I bet it's due to either a) what the plan was originally before recharging, or b) the voucher was one of the 1 cent ones. My bet is the second option. It could still be something else, but if so I can't think what.

If you have another voucher, and it works a second time, please let us all know. That is:

                    • What the plan was called when you logged into the account (before recharging). e.g. Mine shows: "MEDIUM - 30 DAYS"
                    • Was the voucher one of the earlier 1 cent, or the current $1 ones.
                    • Was the recharge done via the phone app, or the "Activate SIM" button on the main Koganmobile site, or something else.
                    • If the successful recharge was done via the Kogan phone app, was it on android or ios.
                    • @[Deactivated]: Please find a screen recording of me redeeming another voucher: https://imgur.com/a/9UJ9AAk

                      • My original plan as you can see was MEDIUM - 30 DAYS
                      • Notice the date the sent was received in the email (5th April), which I believe the 1c ones were not available. Also, it says in the email "Your voucher code for a Kogan Mobile Student Prepaid Plan plan is:"
                      • Was done via the phone app on iOS

                      Hope this helps!

                      • @DiZzy123: Thanks. I'll try again in the next day or two.

                      • @DiZzy123: Say did you recharge that with 95% of its data left, lol?

                        • @[Deactivated]: yup hahaha. for educational purposes :)

                          • @DiZzy123: Ok I tried a bunch of vouchers, oldest and latest purchased, but all were rejected. It might be a bug specific to the iOS version of their app. :-(

                            • +1

@[Deactivated]: Ahhh damn. Okay so I just tried to do it online and it worked fine for me for the ones I bought on 5th April. However, I bought a couple more codes on the 9th of April and those emails say:

"This voucher is valid for new customers only. Please visit the Activation Centre to redeem your voucher. Your SIM card will be on its way soon - but if you can't wait for delivery then you can buy one today from these 7-Eleven or United Petroleum outlets."

Whereas the ones I bought on the 5th say:

"If you are a new Kogan Mobile customer, visit the Activation Centre to redeem your voucher. Your SIM card will be on its way soon - but if you can't wait for delivery then you can buy one today from these 7-Eleven or United Petroleum outlets. If you are already a Kogan Mobile customer, simply login to your account, click recharge, choose your plan type, then enter your voucher. You will not need a new SIM Card."

So I do believe it depends on when the voucher was bought? Not sure

                              • @DiZzy123: Yes, hence the difference. But we all know, it is from Kogan. Whether the terms is strictly enforced or not is a concern.

                                • @Neoika: Agreed. Hopefully those who got into the loophole stocked up before they patched it up. Still super dodgy on the enforcement

                              • @DiZzy123: I did buy some before that date, but I only tried recharging for the first time several days ago. So maybe I had already used the SIMs bought before that date.

So we'll never know why now, lol…unless someone else succeeds in recharging on iOS (using a recent voucher).

                                • @[Deactivated]: Yea I’m pretty sure it’s just based on what it says in your email. Ahh well hopefully next time they run this promo next year there’ll be a similar loophole

  • Does anyone have the discount code for today?

Or if you read this Saturday or later just the current day's code?

  • Excellent situation. Just putting these SIMs into an old phone and wireless hotspotting for when I'm working from home.

  • I’ve been on this plan for 3 months now, when i went to activate one today i kept getting an error that my id was invalid, i tried a medicare card and my passport. Have i been blacklisted?

    • +2

You said you've been on the plan for 3 months, but this deal was only posted on 5th Feb. So it sounds like you're trying to recharge an existing plan using one of these SIMs/vouchers. That (normally) doesn't work because their system knows that phone number is already a customer. If you want to keep that same phone number you'll have to chose some other plan or port out for 30 days, then port back in on day 31 using the new voucher.

Alternatively you can activate as many of these SIMs as you like by accepting the new phone number printed on the SIM packet.

The other thing that can go wrong is if you activate too many SIMs too close together using the same bank details. The Kogan site then asks for a different payment method. Just use another card to pay. A few weeks later the first payment method will be unblocked again.

If it's neither of those just contact Kogan and they'll ask a few questions then reset something.

Oh and never tick the box to say yes, I have more than 4 services. Say no every time.

    • @lmc87lmc1

How many have you activated within the past month?

Also are you using it in a modem or a phone?

      • Ahh sorry, i was forgetting to put my middle name in. I meant i activated 3 sim cards

        • Ah, so it was resolved? That's nice to know.

  • What's the new code today? Cheers

  • what's the code for today. Thanks

    • +2

      UNIPWORD

  • thanks very much

  • UNIPWORD not working.
Can anyone get the new code please ?
    Thank you.

  • DAYSMOBILE not working anymore

  • Anyone have trouble getting the sims delivered? I placed order and it says "partially dispatched" and no sim in the post.

    • +2

I always receive them… eventually. Many have taken 12 days.

This is why it's good to have blank SIMs on-hand. Place an order, receive the code via email, activate blank SIM 1 immediately using code, SIM 2 arrives days later - put it in a drawer to activate immediately using next code. Get at least one spare from a petrol station for $2. Then if a SIM doesn't arrive you can still activate and get Kogan to resend.

  • UNISTUDKOG doesn't seem to work for me.

  • +1

Should the title be updated to 50GB? The last 3 i activated i got 50GB

    • Is everyone getting 50GB guaranted ? Do the terms and conditions say 50GB?

      • I’m not sure but i’ve got 50gb for the last 3 i’ve activated

    • Some people only have 20GB, and it is advertised for 30GB.

      • How many of those people are members of unidays (as is required under terms and conditions) and activated through unidays ?

        • None. There's only one way/place to activate, and the code just gets entered during that one signup.

          • @[Deactivated]: What about purchasing? There's a link on unidays to purchase it as well as the link here on ozbargain. Can Kogan tell which site the person came from? To get the link on unidays it requires the person to be a unidays member and to login. How many people who purchased via the unidays site and purchased no more than one SIM are getting only 20GB ?

            • @finbar: I'm not a student, nor am I clicking through from the Unidays site. I'm only clicking the "activate new SIM" button at the top of the Koganmobile site then copy/pasting the code from here. But yeah, Kogan's IT/marketing drones probably are tracking where traffic is coming from in order to justify their ongoing employment. ;-p

But as far as the end user is concerned it doesn't seem to be making a difference. The Unidays link is more of a courtesy for Uniday users to click on, rather than needing to click on it. Because I've activated several SIMs in the last few weeks and they're all getting 50GB now. (Whereas earlier, the amount of data I got seemed random.)

As in my post just below, it seems to take a while to finally update to the total 50GB though. So MAYBE some people are checking only once shortly after activation, seeing 20 or 30GB, and thinking that's all they got because they only logged in once to check. (It seems to update in three steps with a delay between each bonus - see my post just below).

      • Earlier SIMs bought before the 50GB top-up was added got less data. But more recent ones have all been 50GB. It doesn't show up immediately after activating though. Right after activation it shows 20GB. Then if I log in a couple of hours later it shows 30GB. And the next day it shows 50GB. i.e. There's a delay between each data bonus but I'm not sure exactly how long.

        • What's determining the amount of data received? Time of purchase or time of activation ?

          • @finbar: By purchase it seems. Earlier I posted I was getting random data quotas. But I realise now that was probably because I bought two rounds of SIMs. Earlier ones were giving me random quotas. But once the early ones were all used up, the later ones have all been 50GB.

It might be a sign Kogan is improving actually… because they used to offer deals, then change the t&c days/weeks later, and apply those new rules to old purchases. e.g. I remember past deals where Kogan changed something (like shortening an activation expiry date), so people here were providing Kogan with screenshots and copies of sent emails to get what was originally offered. The fact some of us were getting random data amounts early on might mean their systems now 'know' which t&c's applied at time of purchase.

            • @[Deactivated]: Have you activated any earlier $1 purchases recently tho ?

A few weeks ago I activated a old $4.90 SIM I bought a year ago and got 60GB instead of the old standard 40GB.

And last week I activated a $2.90 SIM bought months ago and got 40GB instead of the standard 20GB.

With Kogan I can see general trends but there's no guarantee what you'll get tho lol.

              • @finbar:

Have you activated any earlier $1 purchases recently tho ?

I activate one about every 10 days, but it depends what you call early. I didn't buy any when they were 1 cent because I already had some $4.90/40GB codes. I did buy more later, but that was some time after it increased to $1… and I think the first few of those $1 SIMs were supposed to be 20GB but actually got 30GB. Then I bought a third lot and those show as 30GB right after activation but at login the next day they've updated to show 50GB.

So yeah… there must be a current blanket 20GB bonus, but I haven't seen any announcement from Kogan explaining why.
