For those who never tried an Android it must be.

I'm a big Android/Samsung fan. I've never owned an iPhone, so I feel like I'm objective when I say that every Android phone I've had (Samsung flagships & 1 LG) have always had terrible battery life after one year of ownership. One thing I can't fault Apple for is the battery life. People in my life that have iPhones have them for much longer than I've owned my androids. One thing that some reviewers fail to mention is how the Androids hold up after 3-4 years. I know that Apple had that controversy where they were slowing down the processor to increase the battery life, but someone I know has an XR and it's very quick & responsive, to this day. Battery life is also amazing. my Note 9 slowed down and the battery health was at 65% according to AccuBattery, after 3 years of ownership. My current S21 Ultra is at 92% battery health and I've owned it for less than 2 months. Apparently this is common among the S21s. Same thing happened to my S3, S5, LGV20. And I think that my S21 will face the same fate. My partner has the same Macbook since 2017. My Samsung laptop aged terribly after 2 years. Apples products hold up really well and they're very polished. Yes it's true they're priced higher because of the name, but you're also getting a very high quality product, and you can't deny that. All these android phones come out with all this great "new" tech but they're not really polished and most of the time it's a gimmick. Samsung learned from apple and are literally copying their phones. Apple changed the way Samsung designs their phones. No SD Card, No Jack, which was a big selling point for Samsung flagships. Now all you can hope for is buying a mid range Android to get these features, even then, it won't keep up with the software updates and it will age horribly. Which means you dishing out more money for a mid range to have a decent phone. Rinse & repeat.

Samsung made the OLED display, NAND flash, and DRAM chips in the iPhone. So yeah, Samsung is literally MAKING iPhones lol

        • +1 to all this - except-

The Pixel 3 was/is a really good alternative. There's one in our house that still has good battery life, and just got the Android 12 update. However this is its last update…

Of course this is an exception with Android rather than the rule.

Oh and happy to chat about my Pixel 6 Pro and the botched December update :)

          Use paragraphs

        • While people generally feel the battery life of Apple iPhones is better, it is not necessary the case. I use and have used both iPhones and Android phones. Here are a few things you may not know:

          • Apple's battery health percentage can be different to 3rd party apps, the 3rd party apps I normally use consistently indicate the battery health is less than what Apple quoted. Honestly, I am cynical about Apple's figure.
          • "That" speed slow down was/is necessary, I had an iPhone, which had 89% battery health (according to iOS settings), but as soon as it reaches 30%, it would shutdown. Letting the phone not to operate in optimal mode (basically allow that Apple slowdown option) does at least allow it not to shutdown when it is below 30%.
          • One of my family members complained about her iPhone battery life after 2 years. Upgraded her to a new iPhone as a result (by the way, the official battery health figure was 90% and that phone was a Pro Max).
          • One of the iPads used to require charging every day, even if hardly used (used less than 30 minutes in a day). It turned out there was an app which kept draining battery in background. However, at least the battery history allowed isolating that app and deleted it fixed the problem.

Aren’t the flagship Samsungs like over $1500 now?

      • -1

agree, better to get android phone as open source platform is always good to know what is it behind the screen

    • -5

sure. its iPhone, thus 300% markup but if a person ok with a 60mzh screen in 2022, its ok to rip him off
