For those who had been saving TCN/ TUGC, another 10~15% off.

    • +8

as good as an extra 10/15% off is with GC, should really buy high end items with a credit card that offers either price protection ,screen replacement, extended warranty, loss/damage

      • +1

Like which ones, would love a credit card that covers loss/damage, would need applecare then

        • Mine is commbank gold credit card offers "Up to 1 year extended warranty on most purchases"

          • @durianbiscuit: i use qantas, i think i only get travel insurance :(
but i get a lot of free flights and hotels, so free holidays, lol.

        • There's one Amex with screen protection and no annual fee

        • +1

28 degrees was one of the best but thats only for previous customers cant get it anymore, other cards offer 4 months, amex has extended warranty & screen protection, just have to go through each card & see what suits you

Citi Rewards credit card has: Complimentary mobile phone insurance - Enjoy monthly cover on your eligible mobile phone for Accidental Damage or Theft when you pay your Monthly Mobile Plan bill with your Citi Rewards credit card4

          • +3

@RogueWolf: Correct, and you don't have to purchase your phone with the Citi card, only pay the bill with it.

Also, Apple observe Australian Consumer Law and will remediate iPhone failures up to 24 months within the guidelines discussed here: https://www.apple.com/au/legal/statutory-warranty/au/
…which beats any credit card extended warranty (which charge an excess also).

            • @dkausa: yeah I know it comes with 2 years, but always good to have the extra cover, most important is the screen protection cover as you're looking at $439 to replace through apple, amex plat edge you only need to pay 10% of the replacement cost so will be $43.90

              • -5

@RogueWolf: Just take care of your phone. Or don't buy an Apple 13 if you know a crack will set you back $400

                • -2

@shegeloaf: Why did you neg the post??

                • +1

@shegeloaf: Pretty much all iPhones released since the iPhone X have the same (or very similar) screen replacement cost if you were to go through Apple today. So by that logic…don't buy an iPhone from the past 4 years?

            • @dkausa: That does not cover accident though. My 28degree card would cover anything within the first year.
Ps: the new Applecare+ is actually good as you can keep it indefinitely. Didn't have it with my XS, my replacement broke after 1 year and the out of warranty fee is almost double a 2nd price lol.

              • @ntb: Citi's card does cover you for accidents: "Our insurance covers you for Accidental Damage that affects your eligible mobile phone from working the way it should, like if you can’t make calls for example. We'll also cover you for unavoidable Theft."

So from that it seems they won't cover a cracked screen if you can still use the phone. If the phone is inopeable, then yes.

I agree it's not a direct replacement for Applecare + as they will replace the screen regardless (for a small fee).

                • +1

                  @dkausa:

So from that it seems they won't cover a cracked screen if you can still use the phone. If the phone is inopeable, then yes.

I guess you could just crack it some more…

            • @dkausa: Credit card extended warranties start after the manufacturer warranty ends, effectively giving a third year of warranty for your iPhone scenario.

          • @RogueWolf: Does 28 degrees price protection works with Amazon?

            • @Ninja9: yeah no issue at all with amazon, they practically price match any retailer/online site

              • @RogueWolf: just curious how do you get Amazon to price match? is there a link or phone you can talk to?

                • @Ninja9: ooops i said that wrong, i meant yeah you can claim 28deg price protection if you see it cheaper on amazon

  • Good guys looks like they have same pricing as JB

iPhone 13 Mini is a great phone (if you like "small phones") and according to the rumours the last one in the "Mini" lineup. Battery life is no longer a pain compared to 12 Mini and it should last for 3-5 years with no issues with its hardware.

    • So no more small options for iPhones?

      • If I remember correctly, the iPhone SE from 2023/2024 will be mini sized. Might come with a 5.7" screen, or have the same size as Mini.

    • +4

Holy crap, the battery lasts 3-5 years?!

      • +1

I easily get 6 years on screen time (with light use)

        /s

    • +4

I guess if storage is all you are after in a phone?

    • +11

Imagine thinking that storing data on the phone is the only option.

      • +3

My iPhone 7 has 256gb and I've barely used 70gb without ever deleting a thing over 5~ years since music is on the cloud.

        • +1

Newer phones with multiple lens can take multiple photos for each photo you take. Storage gets used up a lot quicker now.

      • Yeah, I’ve just started using Plexamp. No idea why I didn’t before.

I always wanted an SD card, or larger storage. Not an issue any more.

      • +3

You've missed the point. If you wanna pay $1100 plus cloud plus big plan thats fine for you. Personally i only want to pay $1100 plus $150 per year for boost. Why? I like when I get to keep more of my money.

        • How many GB you get with boost $150

    • -2

You can buy a 10tb mechanical drive to go along with it off that helps you?

    • Spotify library and 7 years of photos with a mere 56GB free…..Oh the storage anxiety! Why didn't I get the 256GB? WHY?!??!!?

    • -2

Imagine all the people inarticulately parroting memes… oo hoo

  • Still waiting for my 12 mini to arrive from previous deal

  • Is the full size 12 version worth the extra $200 over the 12 mini? I'm thinking about getting one.

    • I think its the same internals so you should be just getting a bigger screen and a bigger battery

      • Yeah fair enough. Seems a bit confusing with most of these phones are similar price points. Is the 13 even worth it for a bit more?

        • Yes.

        • +1

Yep. The 13 mini has better battery life than the regular 12, so that should tell you the gains it has.

          • +1

@giventofly: Plus double storage (on base model, if that matters to you), better camera/s (again, if that matters to you)

Battery was what sealed the deal for me - storage and cameras are just 'nice-to-haves'.

    • they are the same, just a little smaller screen. i have the 12 mini only because i got a great deal with it being free and paying for the $99 a month 5G plan for 12 months. I would say I love it. i forgot how a portable phone feels like. i usually get the pro max model every year which now feels like an iPad mini, lol.
the only downside is when you play games like clash of the clans, its really small. its not a problem for me because i rarely play that game on my phone unless its an emergency. i always play on my iPad anyways even when i had the pro max, but i could see if all you have is an iPhone it could get annoying with big fingers trying to press already small things on the screen, lol.

other then that, i think i'm going to stick with the mini every year now. i really love that it fits and its compact. i no longer feel like I'm stuffing a billboard in my pocket, lol.

      screen sizes to compare
      iPhone 12 mini - 5.4
      iPhone 12 - 6.1
      iPhone X - 5.8
      iPhone 8 plus - 5.5
      iPhone 8 - 4.7

      • Who was this deal with?

      • Isn't this the last year of the mini?

        • +1

you're right. i spoke with Ming-Chi Kuo, and he said that he is 99% sure that the 13 mini is the last one. :(

          • -3

@Hugh G Rection: If you had spoken with him, he would have corrected you on the pronunciation of his name /s

      • -1

Not sure what phone you had before the mini, how did you find the transition to the smaller screen? I saw the mini briefly at the Apple store and it kinda threw me off with the small size because of how used to I am using the Xs and 12 Pro. My work phone is the 12 Pro so I’ll be switching between that and potentially the 13 Mini (replacing the Xs) but wondering if the difference in screen size will make it annoying.

        • +1

I had a xr before getting the 12 mini. Love the small form factor and haven’t had any issues with the screen size.

        • +1

I have a 13 mini after an 8 plus. It’s definitely smaller than that.. screen is smaller than you think.. noticeable when showing people photos or videos etc..
buts it’s extremely portable. I forget it’s in my pockets all the time. It’s great

    • I have a 12 from when it came out, great phone. I couldn’t see myself with a mini. Too small, but it depends on your needs.

  • Can TCN gift cards be used online for jbhifi?

    • last time i checked, could only use instore

    • +2

I was able to redeem the HER cards for jb hi fi cards and make purchases online.

    • I get mixed up between tcn and ultimate. But one of them is upgrading and their website will tell you that card numbers starting with 5xxxxx or whatever are basically visa and can be used online

  • +5

    1300 for a 60hz screen is rough.

    • +1

      Seems smooth to me

      • +9

exactly, you can spot an android user from a mile away, lol.

          • +12

@shegeloaf: Well, just the mere spec sheet doesn’t translate to real user experience. Apple always has been better so in terms stability, security and updates. Android phone doesn’t last as long as iPhones. Coming from a person who has used android for more than 10 years.

            • -8

@Allaboutdiscounts: I totally disagree. My samsung phones have been so good and reliable.

Specs, security, accessibility, options, and durability I chose my Samsung. The only reason iphones seems to work well for you is because they have a closed loop system so their coding is not expansive as Android.

If iphones had to process what android phones process we would see a significant decrease in iPhone performance.
              - but it is what it is. 🤷

              All opinions are just opinions.

              • @shegeloaf: Yeah, I agree. Phones are just tools whichever suits you better. Apple really kept me in their ecosystem from last 4 years. iPhone, watch, iPad, MacBook, AirPods and HomePod. Now, I can’t switch. But, I am enjoying it. 😁

                • +1

@Allaboutdiscounts: I’ve got the same issue. I love my Apple watch but you need the iPhone, with latest iOS capability to go with it. I, also, love my iPad, which is my go to browsing device. My phone is my hot spot and my camera. Frankly the Apple ecosystem has gone beyond the phone. I’m going back to normal screens, and lower prices, and relying on the watch and iPad. Who cares about the phone’s screen refresh rate because I, barely, look at it?

      • To you.

        • Yep to me. Compared to my galaxy flip 3 too.

  • How would this work with Telstra’s 7 day price policy? I haven’t looked into it sorry but understand that if you order an item through Telstra e.g. mobile outright or on a repayment plan, and a competitor has a cheaper price then Telstra have some rebate etc

  • +2

Good deal but as someone who takes a lot of photos/videos and used Spotify offline, I bought a similar deal last year on a 128gb iPhone 12 and regret not going bigger as I’m regularly deleting photos and videos after backing up. Yes I know they aren’t lost but it’s just a hassle

    • I tell this to apple users and they are quick to shut me down. Apple charges to much for 128gb.
Is best to go 512gb or 1tb but be prepared to spend.

    • +2

It's a shame they don't have a microSD card slot like other manufacturers! On mine I added a fast 512gb card when I needed more memory. No need to replace the whole phone - brilliant.

      • In all fairness samsung took the same path. Most disappointing as I know for my use case I don't need blazing fast storage speeds which I think was part of the reason driving this.

        • +1

Samsung have made a step backwards and will not be getting my money so is apple.

  • Does anyone know until when this sale/offer is available? I would like to get one but so confused between 13 and 13 mini. My Xs finally died after a 10sec dip at the beach and the 6s is making me velcro myself to a charger.

    • +2

Offer valid until 11:59PM AEDT 3/02/22 unless otherwise specified.

From the JB email this post based off, the 'otherwise specified' seems to be 10% off iPhone13 cases /macbook air which are earlier end dates.

    • +1

until when this sale/offer is available?

According to the JB HiFi newsletter in my inbox, until 11:59pm AEDT 3/02/2022, please update OP.

      • If you click the link and slide the top banner, the last one is for this promotion, it shows end at 26/3.

  • +5

If buying from Officeworks, you can also get FlyBuys points.

  • Officeworks making it $2 cheaper so they don’t have to price beat anymore?

    • Yes.

    • That's what they do. And they probably hid the stock in the back room when the first person asks for the pricematch. OW are so dodgy with their policy, it's basically a scam.

      • +1

I wouldn’t call it a scam but a bit dodgy, better losing $2 than 5%.

      • -1

It's people like you that are dodgy. Just other day I was at their checkout and a customer was arguing with another checkout chick cos she wasn't matching her apple watch with dick smith that was a direct import. Kept saying they are all made by Apple so what's the difference - wouldn't understand the warranty and local stock differences. That customer went home thinking OW is dodgy too lol

        • I've literally seen them hiding stock out the back at officeworks in Osborne park and you call me dodgy? wtf. You are so broken.

And updating the price immediately isn't having a policy of great everyday prices which is the behaviour these are supposed to drive. It's a 'get the sucker in the store under false pretenses' policy.

AND never have i argued grey imports or any such thing. What a dumb assumption.. Guess how it makes you look?

          • @justtoreply: I am not assuming anything, just sharing my experience. 10+ stores I have been to around Brisbane have all been awesome with price matching.

Also their slogan is "lowest prices everyday" and to elaborate on that, they literally say on the website they check prices multiple times everyday with other retailers to make sure they are the lowest so the customers always get the best price. And if you end up finding even cheaper, its minus 5% again. I think that's brilliant.

Also I don't see a point hiding stock. You can always call head office, price match, then do click and collect. Everybody is salaried and there is no commision for sale, or losses to the particular store or staff for price matches. Only reason I can think of is - if they say they have no stock the customer will go away and they don't need to verify the price match. But even then the customers can do price match in store and order it for OOS items from in store. I am curious to know what you actually saw that made you believe they were hiding stock?

            • @MKBHD: Lol at taking their slogan seriously.

They were taking external hard drives out the back

"if they say they have no stock the customer will go away and they don't need to verify the price match"..that's exactly why. $.

              • @justtoreply: Ther slogan literally means that. Their radio adverts say they check prices everyday to make sure they are the lowest, they are not trying to to hide it. What's "lol" about it?

They keep high risk items in a locked room at the back - laptops, hard drives, phones, tablets, gaming gear etc. What they keep locked at the back and leave unlocked behind POS is also dependent on how dodgy that suburb is and how much space they have left behind POS. You are overthinking mate.

Even if they say there is no stock, someone can call head office, ask them to check stock at a particular store, price match, and buy as click and collect and pick up within an hour. The concept of hiding stock doesn't stack up with a company like OW where nobody gives damn. It's not Harvey Norman where sales people are actually making less if they sell for less. OW staff literally are unaffected by losing a mere $10 on each hard drive for an hour before they lower their price.

I even saw a successful price with BECEXTECH or whatever site that was popular once - a grey import. The guy matched it after checking numerous ttimes with another customer. When I approached him asking why he did it, his response was - a customer walks in there with an expectation of price matching something. The difference was not much and they were still making some money i.e. above cost price. So he chose to make the sell and keep the customer happy. Bad practice - customer could return next day for a bigger price match but I liked what he said and did anyway. That sale neither cost him his job nor his salary for that week.

                • @MKBHD: I don't know why you seem to be hell bent on telling me that something I SAW TWICE didn't happen

                  /fin.

  • +5

man was hoping the iphone 13 pro or pro max also has a deal…

  • "Or if you have Apple Gift from previous deals, go to Apple store to price match and pay by gift cards."

How does apple store price matching works? Bit worried about after sales service so would prefer buying off the apple store.

Can I price match when pay with credit card?

    • +2

I saw some posts back then that apple don’t pricematch on their iPhone ?

      • Confirmed. Apple store refused to price match in December 2021 - were buying iphone 13. Said the retailers buy it in bulk and get bulk discounts due to volume purchase/selling.
