  • Any deals on the new Redmi Note 11?

    • +1

I think you can get it from AliExpress rn.

    • +6

This is an infinitely better deal.

Redmi Note 11 may be cheaper, but the Snapdragon 680 is even worse than its predecessor, just more efficient.

Redmi Note 11s on AliExpress is 340AUD, so not much cheaper than this, and comes with a MediaTek G96. By all accounts it's pretty decent, but not a world beater and for some reason video recording is capped to 1080p despite the chip being capable of 4k.

Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G comes with a Snapdragon 695 which is still worse off and more expensive.

      • +4

        Way to push an agenda.

Snapdragon 680 is much much much better in efficiency vs the 678 to the point reviewers are reporting better battery life than the Note 10 even with the 90 Hz refresh. 11nm to 6 nm is a huge jump, that alone is worth an upgrade from the Note 10. Note 11 is an excellent phone for its price, Xiaomi have refined the already great Note 10. Also the Note 11 Pro 5G Global isn't even out on Ali Express, where are you getting the price from? It will probably be around 450-550 which is the regular price of the F3 when not on discount. Also the SD 695 is an excellent mid range chip, it performs better than last gen 7xx chips even though it's a 6 series and it's 6nm too. I know people don't believe in nm but this time around the new chips have had a big impact on battery life.

However at 370 the Poco F3 is insane value. I bought two of them for 410 and am happy. It's not perfect but man what a phone for the price. If only they added in the option to disable the front speaker to stop the back panel vibration.

The Note series is a different class of phone from the F3, doesn't mean its bad because of the chipset.

        • +1

I think you're pushing the efficiency angle a bit hard as well.

          Here's a comparison:
          https://nanoreview.net/en/soc-compare/qualcomm-snapdragon-68…

Efficiency is just about the ONLY score that the 680 wins on. It's important that people realise that because it's easy to think a newer version has better performance, which in this case is completely not so.

Yeah, the Redmi Note 11 Pro isn't on AliExpress yet. But we are comparing prices we can get the phones at today. So 370 for F3, 340 for 11s, and when the 11 Pro is out I can guarantee it won't be anywhere near those prices, even with early bird discount.

I'm not sure what you mean by different class? The F3 is competing with the Note 11 at this price range now, and unless there's something in the Note series that makes it stand out against the F3, it's fair to have an opinion on which is better.

          • +1

@Jenus: Oh paper there isn't much of a difference but real world is different. The same chip manufactured on 11 and 6 will perform the same on paper but in a phone where heat and power matter, there will be a difference. Even in your linked stats the battery efficiency is 20% higher, that's a huge jump and not me pushing anything hard.

You are right we can compare phones at the same price point, the F3 will beat everything out of the water and beyond at 370, I just bought a 3rd one. However what I meant by the phones being of a different class is the Pro model of the Note series has started to focus more on camera and build quality, as well as design, in that regard, for their class and price, they are excellent phones and now more than ever with Xiaomi focusing on evolutionary upgrades rather then total redesigns. The Poco F3 is an unnaturally good deal and only because it has a SD870 and keeps being put on discount. However you can tell the parts bin feel to the device, I have a Mi 9T Pro and it feels more premium, there are compromises to the F3, it's not as good as it seems on paper but even with that its incredible at 370-400. I haven't held a Note 11 Pro 5G but just by the reviews and class of the device, I can tell it probably feels a lot more premium and quality in hand than the F3. They are two different types of phones, both great value at the same/similar price.

            • +11

@Zylam Marex: Two tech gurus fighting it out on OzBargain - This is what we come here for. Thanks heaps!

            • +1

@Zylam Marex: I am not disputing what you are saying, but as most people use phones in a case you would hardly

feel any difference, the main factor usually being the size and weight. I use both a Pixel 3 XL and Xiaomi RN10

and prefer the cheaper, lighter plastic back as well as narrower RN10 over the Pixel. All comes down to personal

preference and always some trade offs either way. Don't sweat the small details too much.

              • +1

@ozhunter68: Yeah that's a fair point. Each to their own. Personally I don't use screen protectors or buy cases, sometimes I use the one that comes with the phone but for me the feeling of the phone in hand is a big part of the experience. If people don't care about that, the F3 is the better buy because of the processor. However if someone cares about design and feel, the Note 11 Pro 5G is a valid option to consider even if the chip is not on par with the F3.

            • @Zylam Marex: Maybe I'm just really disappointed with the next generation of Redmi Note.

I've been using a Samsung A50S bought from Malaysia, and it has a piss poor Exynos 9611 but manages ok for daily tasks, and after two years it's not that far off the 680 performance.

So my attention gravitated towards the 11s, and I'm just surprised by how they limited the video recording to FHD.

I do wonder if aside from the early bird discount we'd see the 11s drop below 300 by mid of this year? That'd make it very appealing

    • +1

Yeah, it's on the early bird flash sale on Ali Express right now. The store has 14 dollars off, with GST the NFC 4-64GB comes to 162 ish shipped. I got one, just today. However you can only order via the app, it won't let you select the buy now from the browser, at least I couldn't and had to buy via the app.

      Available here

  • Hmm… The price changes when I put in the code. Shows up as the original price of US$444

    • +2

      Only blue

      • I made the same mistake with black then I changed to blue but price is $380 … Is $370 fixed ?
        *OzB tight arse here

        • +1

I got it to $370 - it was the stupid shipping insurance

  • +1

Sorry ,how does this rate against the Google pixel 5/6 ? Is the operating system pretty clean or bloated with crap, security updates?

    • If you care about timely updates and a bloat-free experience, you don't want this phone. A Pixel would be your best bet. In saying that, this phone is cheap compared to the Pixel 6.
MIUI (the custom skin on Xiaomi phones) is not for everyone. But it is notorious for ditching some things that stock Android has or changing altogether how certain things work, like the notification shade.
This phone offers insane value for money if you consider what you're getting.
Also, consider the network bands and availability of VoLTE and/or VoWiFi.

      • +3

Also, pixel has an actually good camera. These are only decent at best (by today's standard. Any camera is competent in good lightning nowadays).

      • +5

Or, you root the Poco F3 and put Lineage or something on it and get a better-than-pixel experience.

And you can install Google Camera software which gives you amazing night shots.

        • Not sure if things have changed but I used to have trouble with banking apps on LineageOS.

          • +1

@nfr: Yes lineageos still have problems with safety net. Unless you use magisk

        • +4

You can also install pixel experience which passes safety net so might be another option if you are ok with Google apps

    • If you're in a position to get a Pixel 5 or 6, definitely get the Pixel. Personally, the 2 big things for me are camera and OS updates and Pixels beat these by a mile. MIUI comes with lots of bloat, but you can remove them. They do get updates, but not as fast as Pixel or Samsung (depending on model or series).

    • +5

Ignore the OS if you want. Unlock, root and install Lineage or Arrow and get all the updates you could ever want.

Amazing phone for the price. Stunning. Good screen, good cpu/gpu, memory speed - everything. For the price, it is insanely good.

  • +3

Almost jumped on this but no wireless charing. The adapters suck

  • -4

Using one at the moment. Crap camera, crap is lots of ads. Processor is the best for games and emulation

    • +3

I was under the impression from what I've read is that you can disable the ads in MIUI under the settings?

      • +2

Followed some guide when I got mine to disable the ads and haven't really noticed any ads tbh

        • Same here
I disabled all ads and have not seen any since.

Having that said, I noticed that my phone gets fairly hot (48 to 50°C) quite often when charging

          • @marcaum123: Fast charging will do that. Do you know what your charger puts out?

            • @albert0pia: 33W I believe. But it is the original charger that came with the phone.

              • @marcaum123: That's weird. One of my devices charges at 33W and does not get warm while the other does at 25W.

          • +2

@marcaum123: Use a charger with the same voltage output but a lower current output (maybe 1.5A or 2A). yes your phone will charge slower but the battery will not overheat, extending its life and longevity.

            • +1

@Toph Beifong: This is what I do. I use the 33W charger if I need to top my phone up quickly during the day. At night I use the charging port on my Lenovo smart clock, which outputs 500mA (2.5W). If I'm sleeping for 6-8 hours, I don't mind it charging slowly.

    • Install the Google Camera app. It's SO much better quality. It's all just software.

      • +1

I have and still not happy with either app for photos. Anything in Low/artoficial light is just plain terrible

    • +2

Dude ram is not everything. Yes it is important, especially with android, but there are phones out there like the iPhone 13 Pro Max that still only have 6gb of ram. Software optimisation matters a lot, hence why google pixels are so popular.

      • It's because that's an iPhone, I was talking about Android here…

  • how is the return experience with Banggood

    • Nonexistent?

    • +1

very good based on my experience for a POCO X3 Pro bought from them.

      • Same. Once you send them a screenshot or photo of the package and courier slip, they send you your money back.

  • +1

How is this compared to the X3 pro?

    • Better. The X3 is the budget/model below this. This is the best Poco model.

  • is this a downgrade from the OP7T?

  • Wow, what a deal. I am going to buy a 3rd one. Thank you.

  • -4

Bought the phone last deal, wouldn't recommend the phone. The battery life sucks, screen is great and camera is shit.

  • +1

Don't see much reason to upgrade from my $400 mi9t. Is phone progress really this bad these days.

    • +3

Better battery, 5G, 120hz, more storage, HDR10+, brighter screen, way better processor, ram faster, flash storage faster, cooling system, higher touch sampling.

Personally I would upgrade if I had that phone as this phone is such a good deal

      • +1

This. RoeJogan doesn't know what he's talking about, as I too upgraded from the Mi 9T to the F3.

Night and day difference except the camera.

      • -1

People are saying the cooling on these sucks. Also 120hz would lose any gain from bigger battery. One step forward. Two steps back. I want to upgrade as well but need compelling reason to do so, rather than just "Im feelin it"

        • Oh boy, your loss then

          • @HeyPapito: Still one the best deals on the market. Just Xiaomi have been knocking it out of the ball park for the last few years. Do any stores stock them for trying?

        • +2

Think you're getting confused with cooling on SD888 phones. I've had the F3 since April and never had issues with cooling and been running it at 120hz the whole time, I get 5-5.5hrs screen time.

It wasn't too much better on my Mi 9t with its a smaller battery so it compensates for the most part on the F3 with its bigger battery. And faster 33W charging.

  • Never ordered from Banggood but better use shipping insurance with them?

    • +4

No, shipping insurance is a scam. Always pay via PayPal so that you will get your money back if something happened during postage.

  • NO NFC, NO SD-CARD EXPANSION, NO HEADPHONE JACK, NO WATERPROOF RATING

    • +4

      It has NFC.

      • -7

no i do not think it does

        • It does

          • +1

@HeyPapito: I have the phone and can confirm it has NFC.

It also has a horrible habit of losing the data connection every 30 seconds for a couple of seconds which is infuriating.

            • @psyclone1982: Never experienced that. Must be a miui bug

            • @psyclone1982: my redmi note running miui used to do that, if you can find "sync" in the setting, try turning it off

            • @psyclone1982: There's a fix for that

              • @JordannSTIXX: Do you have a link at all?

I was hoping when the android 12 updated rolled out it might fix it, otherwise i'd be looking for a new phone.

            • @psyclone1982: That's Radio issue. My phone was fine for months then suddenly this happen to Telstra. It works fine with Optus. So I downloaded Activity Launcher, search for Band. Then set band to LTE B3 which is 1800mhz. That's what Telstra uses for their 4G. Telstra has two more bands for LTE but my phone doesn't like it. So locking the frequency stop it from switching back and forth.

You have to lock your band to your mobile provider specific frequency.

    • +2

      No caps lock?

My F3 certainly does have NFC, I use it every day. There's some confusion about IP rating as it wasn't advertised at launch, but the consensus these days is that it has an IP53 rating like the X3 Pro.

It's true it has no headphone jack, but there's a single in the box if you need it. I can't speak to it's quality as I already own several external DACs and haven't tried it.

The lack of SD card expansion is annoying, that's why I went for the 256GB model.

    • WHY ARE WE YELLING

  • I have been waiting for a deal on the 8GB/256GB variant :(

    • The higher end models are usually the last ones they clear out as end of life. I want that one too lol.

  • +1

Do these phones have any form of warranty?

  • Picked one up.

  • Can I install Samsung pay on this?

    • +2

      No. Samsung only.

      • Thank you for the reply

  • I got the Reno4 5G from JB a couple of weeks back for $250. Maybe I should have waited for this?

  • +2

Was holding out for the redmi note 11 series reviews, and while they seem pretty good for the 6/128gb model redmi note 11 that I was interested in, this appears to be a far better deal for ~$50 extra delivered. Wish it had 256 or 512gb of storage (or expandable for that matter), but considering I've only filled up 45gb of my x3 nfc's storage it will do fine for my use case.

Wish this was available in the white though. The blue was my least favourite colour option.

    • +2

Hoping for white again too. It was included in the last sale.

  • how long does shipping usually take from this store?

    Am I doing something wrong?

    • +1

Are you selecting the blue colour? It's the only one at this price.

  • Wife still waiting 2 weeks in previous deal for the white one

  • Serious question: what's with the 120hz screen. It's nice to have no doubt but is there a typical use case for it?

    • My understanding is it's for the people who like playing games, and it makes the general phone usage feel "smoother". Even though my current phone supports it, I've left it off to conserve battery personally…

  • It's got a Snapdragon 870 that's prev generation refreshed Flagship CPU for the price of a budget phone. Poco F3 good deal indeed.

  • Finally after 2 weeks the phone is in AUSTRALIA I just hope it is going to last long term

  • CAN ANYONE give me a real world review? It is flagship specs but can it last over long term use

    • Typically, people like to install third party ROMs on miui devices. Miui can be buggy and their optimisations can break apps. You won't get a cheaper phone than this spec wise. There newer devices with hotter chips perform worse than the competition temp wise (if you stress it, it shuts down the apps). The 870 in this shouldn't overheat.

Can't really say how good miui is at running over the long period.

      • +1

I've personally been using MIUI on and off for the past 4 or 5 years (redmi note 2, note 3 pro prime, note 5, Poco x3 NFC) and can truthfully say that it's improved considerably over that time. The only UI I've appreciated more was the clean, near-stock Android experience on my old Motorola G6 plus. I'm upgrading to this Poco F3 from the X3 NFC, so I guess that goes to show that MIUI can't be that bad.

  • All kudos to the OP. Been thinking about a new phone for ages, never considered this one, but bought it on a whim after reading this post. Afterwards I thought what have I done, no research or nothing, but got it 18 days later and this beast is amazing. So fast and the amoled screen is stunning. It's got everything, including 5G, except wifi charging (meh) and output to a monitor (but not many phones do). The camera is good, too, especially the 48mp camera shooting RAW. Just an amazing bargain.

    • Oops. Wrong post. I was referring to the previous Poco F3 deal in January. This one is even cheaper!

  • -1

Looks good on paper but how about in real world

  • Thanks OP. I just got one, going to give it a try after drowning my current phone.
i forgot to untick the shipping insurance. extra 12$ ahahah oh well.

  • Does anyone have an update on your order? My order says processing for the last 5days
