  • Are we allowed into malaysia?

    • Last time I checked yes but with PCR, quarantine at hotel etc… So not very appealing. Things might have changed

    • Pretty sure we aren't allow in as Tourist, you might have to find another reason before going

Also a weird statement I found out.
"Fully vaccinated travellers who were infected with COVID-19 11 to 60 days prior to their departure are not required to quarantine upon arrival in Malaysia"

      Source: https://www.smartraveller.gov.au/destinations/asia/malaysia

Thank goodness with triple Vax you don't have to worry about covid anymore. Do any of the flight paths go into Ukrainian territory? What are the chances you'd be blown out of the skies?

      • You dont have to worry about rona? Who said?

        • Putin and Xi. (The Greek letter before Omicron).

      • -1

Who negged me? I bet you it was Putin.

        • +1

I'm sorry people felt like Putin you down

          • @Telios: I can't decipher if your posts are humorous of like… Some sort of weird type of serious.

    • Not if you're entering as a tourist. I've heard that Australian residents have entered on a Malaysian passport though, had to home-quarantine for 7 days.

  • Syd to KL via Singapore…..so travel time is actually almost double what a direct flight would be.

    Scoot is still alive?

  • Looks like MEL to KUL involves a Singapore stopover of anywhere between 8 and 18 hours which is a bit smelly. Hopefully AirAsia starts doing direct Melbourne flights again.

    • Not to mention the PCR testing requirements to get into singapore (which i think also apply if only transiting). Not to mention the risks of having to reschedule due to testing positive before returning. These "cheap" airfares are a total mirage.

      • +1

Transit pax don't need PCR on arrival. I transited in Singapore a few weeks ago. I was allowed to roam around the airport shops.

        .

        • Do you need proof of negative one within 72h of arrival though? And what about on entry into KL (is Malaysia even open to tourists yet?)

        • Were you allowed to visit Jewel Changi during your transit?

  • anyone know the entry requirements for Taipei? wouldnt we need to quarantine once back in OZ?

    • +1

      no tourists in…

I’m in NSW, so no quarantine here

      • damn….thanks mate

  • If you are going to go through the pain of travelling at the moment, it is worth paying a bit more for a non-shit airline.

    • Tend to agree on this. I went to SG on Qantas and paid close to double these prices (peak period) but totally worth it as it was relatively hassle free.

  • Not sure if the requirements and testing costs are the same (I travelled 25th Dec - 3rd Jan), but you'll have to factor in PCR and RAT expenses. Had to take 1 PCR when departing Sydney ($80), then another PCR when arriving in Singapore ($125) - and they violate your nose. Their q-tip is huge. Then you'll have to take another PCR when departing Singapore which cost me $200, and that wasn't even the most expensive, other places were $350-$400 (And you'll probably have to dedicate half a day waiting in line to get the PCR). And don't forget the endless documents… Literally brought a folder to help me through the check-in process. Oh, can't forget the daily RAT tests for 6 days straight (half of them you have to a supervised location outside of the CBD).

  • Very annoying Australia was a green list country then opened up and now amber to red list. I have been waiting 2 years to see my wife and 2 young kids in the Philippines but now because we have such high infection rate they are not accepting foreigners.

    • Just read some good news

MANILA: The Philippines will reopen to fully vaccinated tourists from most countries on Feb 10 and lift quarantine requirements, officials said Friday (Jan 28), nearly two years after closing its borders to contain the coronavirus.

Tourism operators across the archipelago nation famed for its beaches and dive spots have been devastated by a plunge in international visitors and restrictions on domestic travel
