I was the same. Mobile site was garbage, switching to desktop site worked, but tells you to login/create an account before adding to cart. Maybe being logged in on the mobile site would have let you add to cart?

I found that I had to sign up first, added any random item to the cart then added the bike bar end plugs, and deleted the 1st item I added. Total cost was $0.15

On a dirt bike, they (scrutineering at club events, races, etc) normally check for decent bar ends to prevent the bar from cutting (like a round cookie cutter) you if bike bar lands on your body/hand. While I wouldnt use these on a dirt bike, I imagine the concept is similar… even if a bike is much less weight so less risk.
So that you get a bruise. Without them you can lose a digit or some flesh - think of an apple corer.
