These are very poor quality - not great for Australian conditions. The ones I had were in full sun and lasted one, maybe two hours each night. Several stopped working after 3-4 months and after 9 months all had stopped working. The plastic spikes break easily and after some time in the sun the plastic over the solar panel turns yellow, becomes brittle and cracks up (probably why they stopped working). The screws on the top also start to rust. Ultimately rain starts to get in and the lights will stop working. They looked nice while they worked but this product is not durable.

Any suggestions on solar lights that will last a long time as in years. Or am I better off wiring it in

Go the wiring route you will never look back
The lights last years full sun to full shade. I have some under trees pointing up they make a great feature in the dark and some around a water feature that always get wet.
Do it once do it right, Solar garden lights end up in the bin go the wiring route for bright reliable lighting that lasts

I have an 18w solar panel, 10ah 12v battery and a $15 ebay solar regulator in a waterproof electrical enclosure fitted with cable glands. This powers a bunch of LED lights meant for truck bodies (clearance lights) through a cheap programable 12V timer. Been working for 5 years with no failures or water ingress.

        • would love a pic of your setup mate

        • pic or drawings for your set up would be wicked

You used them outside? No wonder they broke!

      /end sarcasm

    • Agree. Rubbish landfill. Half mine are flakey after 3 months or so

  • Bought similar ones to these from ALDI as A4 pack about 6 months ago, and although they cost $30 for 4, they haven't missed a beat since, they've been outdoors and no issues with flaking, degradation in hours of light on time, it anything else. You get what you pay for.

  • UV deteriorate housing rather quickly - no good for oz sun.

Battery will be dead in no time.

    Expensive landfill.

  • Will this work for a year?
