Opticomm Fibre Broadband 250/25 for $3.70 a Day ($112.54 Per Month) @ Launtel

110

This is for households that are hooked up to the Opticomm Fibre network. Not the NBN.

  • Standby = $1.20 a day
  • 250/25 = $3.70 a day ($112.54 per month) + $25 credit if you use a referral.

From memory Launtel have a 7 day free trial period too.

The standby feature effectively pauses your internet connection when you don't intend on using it. Perfect for people with holiday homes or AirBnB's, people who go away on weekends, or if you intend on being away from home for more then a day.

For people that don't want to swap between different Opticomm ISP's every 1 - 3 - 6 months when you sign up offers expire and risk getting hit with that $100+ Opticomm reconnection fee for doing so, this appears to be the best offer ongoing for the 250/25 speed tier on the Opticom network from a decent ISP. Throw in the $1.20 standby 'plan' you can switch to at any time, it may suit some people.

Enjoy and dont forget to use the referral codes mentioned below for that $25 credit.

Pfffft, my internet only costs 20c per hour!

  • I'm not eligible, but just noticed that we are eligible for 400Mbps on HFC NBN. It seems to be about the only worthwhile plan at $4.1 per day, the rest is terrible value IMO

I didn't even realise it was capable of going that fast

    • Yeah Launtel's lower speed plans on NBN and Opticomm are not competitive.
Its the higher speed plans (250,400,1000) where they are competitive.

I guess that's the market they are going after?

      • It is the higher speed plan 250 mbit we are talking about here. That price is close to what i pay for gbit.

        • $4.10 a day for Launtel's Gigabit plan on Opticomm. So you are right, its not far off.
But this is OzBargain, if you can save 5c on here people get excited :P

I didn't even realise it was capable of going that fast

There are 1000Mbps/50Mbps plans available on Opticomm and NBN now

  • I thought standby was $0.00 per day with Launtel? When did that change?

    • Maybe on NBN it's $0.00 per day? Can someone with NBN confirm?
I am only quoting the Opticom prices.

      • Standby on NBN is $1.20/day

        Paused is $0/day

        • seems like Opticomm doesn't have a 'Paused' option. It's only standby.

      • Standby provides very slow internet to keep Home automation running and to avoid the long time it take to unpause on some connections.
paying and unpausing is quite fast on my fttp connection.

  • Harbourisp is currently offering 250/25 for $89 a month with "speed" promo code. However, it is for a 1 or 2-year contract.

HarbourISP is absolute garbage. Avoid like the plague. Myself and a few friends have been with them and their service is trash.

      • Congestion
      • Drop Outs
      • No aussie call centre (like Launtel, Aussie BB or Leaptel)
      • Crazy wait times on hold
      • 12/24 month contracts
      • No trial periods

      Yuck

  • Hmm, i am an existing user and when i tried to change it via the launtel residential portal its still showing 4.20 a day…

    • You maybe on the old plans.
When you try and change your plans, there is a button - forgot what its called. But it will show you the new plan pricing.
Once you click this you agree to the new plans and you can't go back to the old plans.

  • My experience with Launtel was hands down the best and fastest with any ISP EVER!. Not the cheapest, but man they are good.

    • What I loved about Launtel is the daily plan. One day, just for fun, I switched on the 1Gbit plan - my custom router (or maybe the NBN termination unit) could only do 600 on the FTTP connection but its amazing to be able to switch just for a day, for example to re-download your games after a reformat. Their fixed IP is also free, with a refundable $100 deposit (everyone either charges for this or just doesn't have it).

I however recently moved back to ABB when I moved to a new place (that has Opticom).

My take on reliability and service (based on my experience) is that AussieBB is still the best, followed by Launtel (this based on experience using Mate, TPG, ABB and Launtel). This is based in general on random packet loss, occasional service interruption, customer service and app/web-based self-service capabilities. AussieBB hands down is the best on these points. Its not something I noticed until I used ABB and decided to leave to try other providers.

    • I couldn't agree more, and the personal touch sells it for me. Getting a check-in from Damo or having a laugh with the Customer Service Rep about my lack of knowledge is worth those few extra pennies. If only other companies realised the value in proper customer service!

  • This is for households that are hooked up to the Opticomm Fibre network

How much does this cost and is it the same as that Technology Choice scheme (spelling?) where you can pay like $10k to get FTTP installed at your premise/house/etc?

  • I can't get the referral link to work

    Anyone got a code 😊

  • Attempted to report this deal as expired following an email I received from Launtel about prices for this speed tier increasing for new customers from Wednesday 26th June 2024 (apparently no action taken?). Plugging a new address in on the Launtel site reports $4.10/day now instead of the original $3.70/day for 250/25.

$3.70/day is available to existing customers until Thursday 25th July 2024.

Wednesday 26th June 2024 - New retail prices will be applicable for allnew customers. Existing customers stay on existing prices for a further 30 days.
Thursday 25th July 2024 - New retail prices come into effect for existing customers and unpausing customers.

    Major Launtel callouts -
The higher speed 250/25 and 1000/50 will be the only speed tiers increasing in price.
Prices steady or dropping for all other speed tiers.
The wholesale price drops in the higher speed tiers (250/100 and above) allowing us to reduce the daily price by up to $5.40 per day.
