[SUBS] The Book of Boba Fett (from December 29th 7pm) @ Disney Plus

10768

I would like to remind everyone that this is a completely new show coming to Disney Plus, not a new season. If you would like to stop seeing these deals please hide them.
Tweets and sneak peeks here: https://twitter.com/starwars

"On the sands of Tatooine, bounty hunter Boba Fett and mercenary Fennec Shand navigate the Galaxy's underworld and fight for Jabba the Hutt's old territory." Good to see Boba Fett, again, more of an Antihero. Finally an Asian American Co-Lead Ming-Na Wen playing Fennec Shand in a Disney Star Wars Series! Jon Favreau started the whole Marvel Cinematic Universe and Mandalorian so I'm looking forward to this!

To recap, here’s what to expect and when:

Episode 1: 7.00 pm AEDT, 29 December 2021
Episode 2: 7.00 pm AEDT, 5 January 2022
Episode 3: 7.00 pm AEDT, 12 January 2022
Episode 4: 7.00 pm AEDT, 19 January 2022
Episode 5: 7.00 pm AEDT, 26 January 2022
Episode 6: 7.00 pm AEDT, 2 February 2022
Episode 7: 7.00 pm AEDT, 9 February 2022

What is going on did Space miss putting up something ?

    • +1

The exception being that when I do it, it's due to a new movie being added that's already in cinemas or close enough to (feel free to correct me).
This, however, has turned it all into a shitshow…

      • Believe it or not I sign up on Xmas day and will end up getting 4 out of 7 of this Baby lol .
Your deal for the kids this 1 for me .

  • +3

    Really looking forward to this.

  • +2

    agent May

    • ?

      • Bounty Hunter

      • +1

Actress starred in Agents of Shield as Agent May. She was also Chun Li in Street Fighter The Movie…

      • -1

Same actor Ming-Na Wen plays Fennec Shand as Agent Melinda May of S.H.I.E.L.D

        • She is also the voice of Mulan in the original Disney adaptation, as well as having a cameo in the live-action one.

          • @NickimusRex: She also played Dr Tracy Lim in 2 episodes of the George Lopez show.

            • +2

@animal: don't forget her iconic role as Royal Trumpeter #3 in Mister Rogers' Neighborhood

  • +64

Looking forward to the show! But not really a deal?

    • +11

      Agree… Belongs on OzTVGuide…

    • +2

      deal there is not

Whirlpool covers this topic perfectly well, no need for it on a bargain site.

      • +27

should be opt in not opt out lmao

      • +6

Noone is obligated to retract thier downvote, you'll just have to live with it

        • Just like you will have to live with seeing this

      • +4

Not sure why the downvotes. I thought this is a reasonable comment, and on ozbargain it's just set up to be opt out rather than opt in to see things.

        • +8

On OzBargain you never tell people how to vote, this is the way.

      • +6

You're going to be downvoted to a galaxy far far away lol

      • +9

Not if its exclusive. The examples you've provided were all released on cinema or were able to rent them in other forms, and in my opinion the "deal" was that you would be able to watch it for free on Disney+ if you were already a subscriber and save on the movie ticket/rental price.

But this series is EXCLUSIVELY on Disney+ and you can't find it anywhere else or watch it in the theatres. Therefore, NOT a deal.

        • +3

But this series is EXCLUSIVELY on Disney+ and you can't find it anywhere else

I guarantee it'll be on every torrent site an hour after it airs.

      • +4

lol 20 downvotes in 15 minutes.

      • +9

Really wish it was opt in rather than opt out, the settings for OzB are bloody awful to wade through.

        • -2

Perhaps you can start a Site discussion forum thread?

        • Deal Filtering is available via My Account - Edit - Deals or by clicking the gear on the front page. You can also click the hide button below the deal above to hide deals from the user posting or the store (e.g. Disney Plus). Feel free to suggest a better area, preferably in the Comments / Feedback / Suggestions Thread 2021

          • +2

@neil: I see no option to hide subs under my account - edit -deals why make it so damn hard. Just filter out this crap by default.

            • @gromit: We don't subjectively filter anything by default.

Instructions, type in any word in the title tags section, you want to filter e.g. VIC or NSW or in this case SUBS. Shoot me a PM if you are having further trouble and I'll walk you through.

      • Too much time 🤣

      • Levity by name, not by nature…

      • +4

I wouldnt take the negs personally.

Let mods be mods and explain/enforce rules.

        • They stay away from these posts but I feel some consensus should be made on [SUBS] deals

          • +2

@[Deactivated]: Nah they probably just want people to take personal responsibility. :P

          • @[Deactivated]: You'll find that it's a public holiday and perhaps we are taking some time off. We don't stay away from any posts, we follow the:

The consensus is SUBS deals are allowed.
The consensus is that people can negative vote deals like this within the voting guidelines

  • I wonder if ming na wen is still hot at 58
    Seems ageless

    • +1

Check her insta, its called make-up :)

She still looks ok without it but does actually look 58.

      • Yeah I think my brain is stuck on how she looked in 2 and a half men

  • +3

These are not the deals you are looking for!

  • Is it the whole season though or is this post just for episode 1?

    • -4

To recap, here’s what to expect and when:

      Episode 7: 7.00 pm AEDT, 9 February 2022

    • +2

not whole season, will be weekly like other Disney+ shows to keep trial users from subbing longer.

      • +1

Yeah definitely not a deal then haha! Minimum 2 months?

        • -1

You could trial it in 2 months or pirate it like all the other people who don't want to sub?

          • +1

@[Deactivated]: Point is it's not a deal, its a show that Disney has made to make their platform more profitable - this post is just free advertising for them.

Wife paid $141 USD for 3 years when Disney Plus first launched (through D23 Disney Fan Club). That was an example of a great deal that was posted on slickdeals at the time.

  • +10

I think there needs to be some policing of these subs deals, this is a show that is only on Disney + and made for it, it is what you expect when you buy a subscription, not a deal

If it is a movie that is coming to Disney that is either currently in theatres or currently priced at $34 on demand then that is a deal

    • -7

All previous "deals" posted on Ozbargain from Disney Plus were either shows being put on Disney Plus after being on Disney Premium pass for $34 after a long period of 120+ days in Cinemas or Movies and TV Shows specially made for Disney Plus which this category fits in

      • +14

Policing of these deals need to improve. You've provided perfect examples of that by linking previous deals and by employing a monkey see monkey do approach. Thanks for proving the point.

      • +4

Then please update us weekly or monthly by posting a deal for every show or movie that comes out on subscription services??

The first part of your comment makes sense - a cinema release coming to Disney+ early, or premium content being made "free" - but this deal is more just a D+ advert.

      • +3

I'm saying that if this is being allowed under current rules then the rules should be changed.

I want to see Subs deals such as Shang Chi or Free Guy coming free while still being in cinemas as it allows me to save on buying a ticket but instead we are flooded with this crap where it is always free and not a "Bargain/Deal"

At the moment I have 2 options, either block out subs fully or keep my home page with this crap that isn't even a deal.

    • +2

Exactly, adding new content specifically for that subscription is like adding new content to a game. Expected.

Don't see there is a post every time Fortnite starts a new season or chapter lol or Apex introduces a new character.

Now if there is something like a free concert in Fortnite, or a new blockbuster available for free (with subscription) that you'd otherwise pay for that's a deal.

    • SUBS deals are permitted. Staff aren't going to pick and choose which ones we think fit or not. We've had a LONG discussion on this which lead to this policy enacted. If you don't like seeing SUBS:

Deal Filtering is available via My Account - Edit - Deals or by clicking the gear on the front page. You can also click the hide button below the deal above to hide deals from the user posting or the store (e.g. Disney Plus).

      • Thats a terrible decision which will continue to have backlash amongst the community

Xbox gamepass subs discussion is clearly not equal to this either

        • Why is it not the same? It's all paid subscription entertainment. I actually like some of the deals as they show me which steamer is showing something and then the comments often give tips on a way to save a few bucks on that one. You have the option to ignore as well.

          • @[Deactivated]: I don't have the option to ignore these non deals if I want to see the actual deals, such as explained in previous comments.

It is not the same because Xbox games can be purchased separately or had on the pass therefore providing a deal, this TV Show is exclusive to this pass and is expected when you purchase it, it is one of the selling points.

An example of something similar to the Xbox subscription is Shang Chi or Free Guy being available while in Cinemas as an alternative "deal/Bargain". There is a deal as you are receiving something valuable added to the subscription

            • @freoleo: I'm pretty sure you'll get the option to purchase these shows from other vendors, a quick Google has it available on disc to purchase online.

              • @[Deactivated]: A quick google says it has no confirmation of a DVD or Blu ray release

  • +5

Actual deals for firearms were able to be hidden to. Didn't stop people crying about "gunz iz bad" until they were killed.

    • There are actually gun deals on OzB? I haven't seen any

      • There were a few a while back, but comments and downvotes section were heavily pro and anti-gun
        Discussion thread: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/322997

        • Crazy that they were banned not because any side won out, but because it was too much of a s hitshow

          • @dbmitch: Posting gun deals in this country is ridiculous due to the hurdles you have to go through to get one.

            • +5

@Mondorock: There's over 850k Australians with a firearms licence. I think they'd be interested in deals when they come up.

              • -1

@apsilon: And that's what, 3% of the population? Of which, how many would even visit this site?

              • @apsilon: There are a lot more people with smart TVs.

            • +2

@Mondorock: And yet, many more hurdles to get a car licence

          • +1

@dbmitch: I'm surprised everything covid related hasn't been banned for the same reason

    • That's not really worth the neg. Though the last couple of star wars were bad

      • The movies were B tier, but Mandalorian is great which is why I posted this Jon Favreau started the whole Marvel Cinematic Universe and Mandalorian!

      • +7

        Ok mate,

        It's not a deal. It's an ad for disney+

    • +3

Just reread my original post and would like to clarify: The firearm related DEALS were killed……NOT the PEOPLE CRYING.

Thank you and have a fantastic evening.

  • +5

To be honest I'm sick and tired of everything being subscription now.

Every single piece of software is subscription.

    • Starts with Stream and ends in io

Doesn't work so good for garbage content only kids would watch on Peacock, But all Disney stuff? The high seas have you covered.

    • Yeah ends up being more expensive! Unless you sail the high seas.

      • It actually ends up cheaper than going to the movies costing you $20 each time and Blockbuster rentals were $5 now you can just pay $10 a month for your subscription service of choice and watch as much as you want, or split 4 services with 4 people on Classifieds and watch 1 screen of all 4!

        • +5

They actually refer to these streaming services/youtube/tiktok as infinity loops. Just endless content which pretty much erodes your time. Time being the most expensive thing in the world, what would actually be the true cost?

This is more so for the people who don't control their time watching.

        • The problem is that each company now has their own streaming services and it fragments the market so you need multiple services costing more.

  • +6

Can we have different tags rather than it be all lumped in "SUBS"?

For example, I use the Xbox Game Pass posts but have no interest in Disney+, Hulu etc

    • +3

Agree. I may be interested in some actual deals on subs so don't want to block the lot but new shows being added aren't a deal IMO and shouldn't be posted as such.

    • You can block seeing Disney+ deals by clicking the hide button at the top of this deal, below the description. Hulu isn't available to Australia but for other services, e.g. Netflix, just click on one of the deals e.g. this one and click hide.

  • +15

this is not addition to a sub, it's just a show. are we really going to post every new netflix and prime video show here as a deal?
should be opt in for stuff like this.

    • -3

Please follow Ozbargain rules as outlined below:
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/help:voting_guidelines

      No Vote
If the deal doesn't apply to you or you aren't interested in the company. You may also choose to leave a warning about the business or deal via a comment only.

  • +2

    Prefer dubs

  • +19

    Not a deal.

  • +10

Why aren't the mods doing anything about these posts?

    Defeats the whole purpose.

    • -6

      Because they are allowed…
Please refer to the discussion thread

      Moderatorneil on 05/02/2020 - 16:37
We have discussed this thread and the steps forward.

Users who wish to block "Additions to Subscription Services" can do so by adding SUBS to their front page customisation.
Moderators & Power Users will add [SUBS] to any deals that fall under additions to Subscription Services.
Xbox Game Pass, Netflix, Hulu, Disney Plus are considered additions to subscription services. Playstation Plus and Games with Gold are not considered additions to subscription services as you need to claim/"buy them". We will tag any other services that may fall under these deals.
A reminder of how to block these kind of deals will be added to deals for a short term period, just as we do with targeted offers.
In the near future, the filter will apply to the new deals page along with the current front page.
