Looks good on paper and the specs are better than the Asus AX55. Not sure about the performance in real life. The review on the Amazon website is a bit worrying. Does anyone have any experience with this compared with the Asus?

From the description: Drastically improved speeds enable streaming, fast downloading, and gaming—all at the same time. 5 GHz with 160 MHz channel support doubles the bandwidth, enabling 8K video without lag. 4 high-performance external antennas boost Wi-Fi signals throughout your home. Beamforming technology detects devices and concentrates wireless signal strength towards them, especially for previously hard-to-reach outlets. 512 Mb memory + Qualcomm CPU.

I'm done with TP-Link - good for about 80% of the time but just want reliability. Have been spending a bit extra and trying other brands lately - Asus seem solid…

  • have it and wouldn't recommend it. though its specs are better , the range was not good - my 2018 120$ router was better. i had to get a mesh extender to resolve the issue. have wifi 6 and mesh - thats a plus. may be you can buy if its a smaller place like apartment

have been using the Archer D7 for about 7 years now and it's been solid for me. Picked this one up and will report back if I run into any issues.

    I think ax72 for $215 is better.
For this model ax55, few sellers on ebay sell for $155 then you can apply ebay plus code to get $10 off.

  • i have the ax50 ax3000, first version, works fine in my 2 bedroom house …. through 4 brick walls into living room and i can still watch netflix on the google chrome cast no issues …. you just need to make sure it has the latest firmware, mine used to drop a few times when i first bought it ( 2 years ago), put latest firmware on it and it hasn’t missed a beat …. 2 brick walls into the study where i work from home no issues and i’m on zoom all day ….i’m on NBN HFC with the netcomm NBN modem.
i’d buy the TP-link again or a newer model.

there are only a few chip manufacturers for the wireless chipset if you did a tear down between brands, in regards to range and secret tech, it’s the software that makes the difference if it drops out or not if the models have the same wireless chipset ….

    • Review said 55 is way much better than 50

  • Highly don't recommend TP link. Not consistent and have to reboot once or twice a week on my old TP link router. Firmware issue takes few months to fix.

  • I have the AX1800 now. Is this worth the upgrade?

    • no. you want ax6000 as you currently have ax1800. You will feel the difference much more than an upgrade to an ax3000

  • i been using this for long time and i am very happy with it,, 2 story home and speed is fine everywhere in house

    • how about number of devices connected? a lot ? no slowing down?

      • no mate… total 7 device runs on it and we do not find any issue with speed

  • The TP-Link menu looks soooo dated
I'm swapping mine El Cheapo tp link Archer vr300 out with an asus

  • been using for a week or so and it's been solid so far. did run into some issue with dlna sharing to my TV and TP-LINK support is pretty bad.

  • bought ax73 but having issue with bridging it to a belong modem (FTTN)…
