Really wanted to get this but logitech reputation of double click issues kept me from pulling the trigger

Can any ozbargainer comment on their experience with logitech?

I've got the G Pro Wireless. Unaware of any double click issues.

    • +2

Have owned multiple mice from Logitech, never had an issue.

Currently using this mat with the Superlight wireless and its perfect.

    • Read about it and have worried a little but I don't use my gaming mouse unless I really need to (I use a different mouse for anything that doesn't really need the precision of a high end gaming mouse). Don't really game as much these days either as we have a young one to look after so I hopefully won't run into any issues for at least a few years.

    • I've owned a variety of Logitech mice (GPW, G502, G703, MX Master 3) - have only had my G502 develop the double click issue after about 2 years of daily use.

I don't believe this is a Logitech-only issue - and is instead tied to the cheap switches that companies may opt to use.

      • Yeah, I've had issues with other mice, including I think a Razer and a Mad Catz R.A.T mouse. Definitely not confined to Logitech mice.

    • I’ve had the g pro wireless for 3+ years now but no double click issues. Only issue I have is with the scroll click and when I single click or hold click it doesn’t hold or holds itself… it’s intermittent as well and hasn’t happened for a while now.

    • The double click issue was fixed in a firmware update for certain models (with a small latency increase)

    • had 4 logitech mice, only the oldest one didn't have double click issue and still going strong.
the logitech anywhere mx mouse just developed double click and I ordering japanese switches to replace myself as we speak.
got the Logitech G903 to use with the powerplay mouse pad, developed double click while still under warranty so Logitech sent me another one. Second one developed double click as well after just few months but warranty is over so Logitech didn't do anything for me. Went to order 2 sets of new switches and replaced both mice myself and now I have two working G903 :)
If you don't mind getting your hands dirty down the road I think it is a good buy, with youtube step by step videos it is not hard to replace the bad switches.
Shame that logitech opt to use cheaper switches for their premium mice :( but powerplay mousepad is really good

      • Where do you get your switches from? Not sure if I can do it but may look into it if mine do develop problems.

        • +2

I got them from ausmodshop.com after googling around for australia based company that sells switches.

They charge a premium - $7 to $9 per pair of switches plus another $7 (regular) or $10 (express) for shipping compare to say buying from aliexpress for less than $3 (haven't tried them).

Reason I use ausmodshop is because I urgently need to repair my mouse for my gaming sessions and couldn't wait 2 months for delivery and ausmodshop got a good reputation so probably no fakes. Bought twice from them and their delivery is lightning fast.

By the way forgot to mention to replace the switches we need to do some soldering, not hard for those who done it before but might put off some folks as it is not plug and play

          • @iori57: Yeah, I don't have the gear to solder but I do have a mate who could help me out. May be an option down the track. Thanks for the info.

            • @ozbs25: Nothing to worry then :) by the way my second G903 wasn't use much for gaming as I was busy with work for some time, so I didn't spam the clicks as much as the first mouse, but it developed double click quicker than the first so quite disappointed with Logitech.

          • @iori57: I got some Kailh GM 8.0 Black switches from ausmodshop (got 10 for like $20 so I can put them into future mice) and had a crack at the desoldering/soldering. Just did my Logitech G Pro X Superlight and wasn't too hard. A little finicky but plenty of tutorials on youtube made it much less stressful. The switches are a huge improvement over the stock Omrons (feel much crispier and easy to spam) and don't need to worry about any double clicking!
Would also recommend getting new feet as once you peel off the old ones they never quite sit the same.

            • +1

@thelastsensamurai: That's awesome! Yes the best thing about going through all the hassle is not to worry about the damn double clicks anymore XD the difference is like night and day. For the feet I followed one tutorial where they use a hairdryer to blow on them before peeling them off and putting them back (to melt the glue it seems) and so far so good! Did you get the feet from ausmodshop as well?

              • @iori57: I'll have to try the hairdryer trick next time, thanks for the tip! Yeah I got some Corepad Skatez (2 sets in a pack so I have backups) and some BT.L grips as well from ausmodshop. Recommend the grips, the Superlight is a little too narrow for me so I just applied the side grips and not the M1/M2 grips and it feels great. Now to see if any of this actually improves my gameplay! :)

    • I probably shouldn't be commenting on this as I'm not an avid mouse fan like others here, but I've been using the Logitech G903 for about 2 years now. I've had to have the mouse replaced twice due to double-clicking, but YMMV. Generally speaking from my perspective, unless you're a pro player or take gaming super seriously, shouldn't be a major issue.

    • I've been using Logitech gear for ages, they make good stuff but i have had issues with a couple of products. (keyboard LED's & Mouse double click , G703) Although in Logitech defense, they sent me a new upgraded replacement without too much fuss twice! Went from a G703 to GPRO. so i'd recommend their products overall. Alos is great that they offer 2 years warranty on most of their products.

Also i used the powerplay matt for close to 2 years with no issues. Ended up changing it to a larger desk mousepad though because i missed the mouse room.

    • G703 started double clicking on all except the side buttons after a year. I buy other brands when I can.

The first G703 may have been one of their worst offenders though.

    • All my peripherals for many years have been nothing but Logitech. I've never encountered the issue.

All my hardware has been faultless, it's the G-Hub software that has the problems.

    • Haven't had any issues with this logitech mouse, but have had it with an older logitech mouse. Also had it with 3 others of different brands.

    • I had it with the G902 (?) And had to solder new Japanese switches onto the PCB to fix. Was unbearable until I did this.

    • I'm using this charge pad and G pro. I never charged my mouse since purchase. That's long time ago. The G lighting on both devices sync in colour and tempo. Nice.

    • I've got 2 G903's that had double click issues.

The first one started double clicking about a year and a half of use, the second one took six months. I didn't RMA mine and just ordered some new Omron switches to replace them. Both mice have been rock solid since.

The Powerplay mat is good. It acts as a dongle as well as a charger but I found the mouse wouldn't charge quickly enough. I ended up connecting the mat to a proper 2.4 AMP charger and I use the dongle that came with the mouse to connect it to the computer.

Doesn't the mousepad need a wire? So why not just get the 3 dollar wire direct to your mouse and save 130 bucks

    • +3

Having a wire connected to your mouse can affect the movement of your mouse. Really annoying if you are playing online multiplayer games where any distractions can make the difference between you winning or losing. Yes, it's only a game but some people take their games very seriously.

      • +2

not just games, I use it for both work and games and it's awesome not having a wire and don't need to worry about charging the batteries

    • +1

Once you use it you will finally understand how something so seemingly useless becomes such a big thing.

I thought the same thing until I was gifted one and I'd easily buy one full price now. It's hard to explain until you actually experience never having to charge. It's a small thing with a much bigger impact than you'd think.

  • Have this mousepad along with a super X and damn they're perfect

  • Been using this with my G Pro Wireless for past year and it has been great.

  • +1

I was debating getting this mousepad but got this instead from AliExpress. Hasn't arrived yet but I heard good things about it

    • +1

Can't use your mouse while it's charging though. Might as well just stick the cable in. At least you can still use it while it's charging.

      • That's true. Though I usually just charge it when I'm away from my pc

        • If it's something you do on the regular just through habit I can see why you would use it. I only charge when I get a warning or my mouse stops working. :P

    • It's not great if you like using the weights in your mouse.

  • Given the mouse takes minutes of charge for hours of use (and often over a week without a charge), not seeing the value? Is it also a generic wireless charging mat for phones?

    • At present I hardly ever have to charge my gaming mouse. My other regular mouse isn't compatible I don't think and in any case I don't mind charging that by cable when it needs charging as it's not that often. Also my mousepad is actually pretty decent too so I can't see myself getting one of these mousepads for the foreseeable future.

  • using this with a g pro wireless, best combo ive ever used.

    • What's the second best combination you've ever used?

      • razer mamba hyperflux with firefly. Had connectivity issues with that pad as it would sometimes stop providing power to the mamba then it would cut out as it doesnt have batteries but capacitors

  • Does this work with Razer mouses? Or only Logitech exclusively?

    • Logitech and only with the compatible mouse which takes the powercore.

  • OOS now

  • Does this work with the mx nice? Had a search and not much luck, which makes me think not.

    • +1

Nah they don’t. It’s a small disc inserted into the bottom of the mouse that allows it to charge and only their compatible gaming mice have the right slot

  • Impossible to find the exact soft pad replacement, that sweet sweet 2mm thick pad
